New Killer The Houndmaster has finally arrived in the live servers and well. She is absolutely broken, by bugs. Her power can completely stop working or hit so many janky situations that deny her power outright. She should have been left in the oven for a few more weeks but the saving grace is that she is incredibly fun to play!

Its behavior. This is nothing new. Bugs are their bread and butter. Every time they release something it fucks the game up. You would think at almost a decade they would understand their own game and how to implement an update, but its behavior. What's so shocking?
I’ve been lagging hard since update
what BHVR releasing broken and buggy update dont say its true old new dude you shouldnt be shocked anymore
Have a feeling that the killer got rushed and was released early unless im mistaken….but it feels like the devs are looking forward to a break of some sort especially considering Christmas is around the corner now which I'm fine with
Of course…terrifying killer…poodle lady!!! 😂😂
Just not feeling this one. Unknown was peak design imo. This feels rushed and half brained to me
Stbfl is pretty fun with her
1 Change i would make is when the Dog is sent to a Generator,If he finds Survivors He should Auto Attack the Survivor closest to him and if there's nobody he pees on the Generator, If a Survivor goes on this Generator he will be exposed for 5 secs. Now He just stands there.
Behaviour should make killer models of killers of both male and female.
I really hope they fix her bugs, but there’s a chance they won’t. Knight was released so long ago and he still has bugs from launch.
I wish if someone got hit by Houndsense with chase command, the dog can either home in without redirection or just damages a survivor.
One interesting "bug" (although it's really more of a bad design choice than a bug) is that apparently the dog drags the survivor it catches back toward the spot where you initially sent it from rather than to where you are currently. This seems to result in a bunch of the times the dog drags the survivor in the wrong direction, i.e. the dog is trying to drag them to where you were a few seconds ago and not where you are. This is especially noticeable, for example, when you've dropped down a level or vaulted a window, etc, since the path the dog takes to where you were could be entirely the wrong direction in those cases compared to if it was coming straight back toward you ala something like Deathslinger's harpoon gun.
How good do we think this killer will be on controller
love how pompous you are and don't even know the killer – just like you get stun and "I meant to do that" or "that actually works out". Then 5 seconds later cry about being stunned. So weird how your brain works when narrating these vids.
It’s odd how they keep making killers that depend on some amount of AI when they still haven’t figured out how to make a reliable AI
A quick build request for Houndmaster (if it's not already posted):
– Scourge Hook: Jagged Compass (turns normal hooks into Scourge Hooks and shows aura of gen with most progress)
– Scourge Hook: Hangman's Trick (while carrying see auras of survivors near Scourge Hooks)
– Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain (when a survivor is unhooked from a Scourge Hook they suffer Mangled and Hemorrhage and the first time they're healed have a significant slow down to healing and repair speeds)
– Perk of your choice (Mindbreaker could be interesting, also Monstrous Shrine)
Add-ons
Unfinished Map (green) – Survivors affected by Houndsense are Exhausted for 15 seconds
Belaying Pins (yellow) – Survivors affected by Houndsense are Oblivious for 20 seconds
Notes:
The idea here is to hook people on normal, non-Scourge Hooks as much as possible to build up as many radar sites for Hangman's Trick as possible. With just a few new Scourge Hooks created you can get quite good aura readings across the map while carrying survivors. (This also makes Monstrous Shrine an interesting fourth perk since it adds the basement area to the aura sites. This is especially true currently with survivors experimenting with the various basement related survivor perks, if you can see basement auras while carrying survivors it could make them sitting ducks if you go after them!)
Gift of Pain synergizes with this strategy because (unless it's been changed) the Jagged Compass perk will turn the normal hook into a Scourge Hook first during the unhook, and then Gift of Pain can trigger immediately after. So basically you'll get Gift of Pain on every single hook with this combo.
The add-ons both enhance Houndsense, with the idea being that while you are carrying survivors you'll see their auras due to Hangman's Trick and know where to send the dog on a chase to hopefully get someone into Houndsense immediately after the hook is done, even if they're not near a gen at the time. An Oblivious, Exhausted survivor who glows bright red when you see them will hopefully be an easy target. You could even add in Mindbreaker for the fourth perk to further increase the chance that survivors you go for after a hook will be Exhausted and not see your aura coming for them.
Caught part of your stream last night and was gonna buy her immediately but I think im gonna wait and see if they address any of the bugs this week and see if they can resolve them soon before I pull the trigger on her
I know you said to never rate the Killer on Day 1, but after playing with her for a few games and getting the hang of how she plays, she has the potential to be a Tier B+ Killer. She's still janky and buggy, but she's honestly a pretty solid Killer with a steep learning curve.
Part of me for this potential in ranking is because of her zoning ability to cause Survivors to position themselves poorly and end up in situations where they get mindgamed into a free hit. After all? There's a surprising amount of loops that are really unsafe from a well-timed Snug Chase Command. The Slipstream speed boost combined with Snug's Search Movement Speed also lets you do some really dirty moves with forcing Survivors into poor positions for a free hit. Also, getting bitten by Snug = a free hit in general too.
She can't be any higher than B+ despite her strong options because she's just an M1 Killer while Snug is off doing Snug things and a skilled Survivor can juke the Chase Command or position themselves where Portia is in a worse position than she entered Chase with. But that's why I say she has a steep learning curve because Houndmaster players starting out will struggle with trying to force Snug to do the heavy lifting and end up frustrated when that rock-headed approach doesn't get wins.
From my experience, maps with narrow and predictable pathways and junctions are Houndmaster's best maps. Meanwhile, wide-open maps with a lot of messy collision detection zones are Houndmaster's worst maps. The best advice I can provide for playing her to people who are curious? Play in a way that limits as many of the Survivors' options in Chase as possible. Doing so will cause them to mess up and take easy damage states. Learn to break away from Chase when Survivors enter unfavorable tiles with many blindspots. Give them no quarter when possible, and the booty of constant wins will be yours.
My favorite perks to use with her would have to be Languid Touch + Spies in the Shadows. The Crows notifying you where Survivors are nearby and exhausting them gives you such a strong advantage in Chase as they'll have difficulty fleeing from Snug with how poor their positioning ends up
That dog has a puffy tail!
the voice is cool,i like that VA
My review of this killer after playing a couple games with her. She just feels too jank and buggy. I feel like she would be fun if they made her feel better to play. The worst thing is that her power feels too inconsistent to play with.
Why some gens aura are yellow and others red ?
(not talking about Jagged Compass)
I tried playing her but she is so frustrating to play. Like if I wanted to play a killer that does the same thing I would just play Deathslinger.
I've been playing a lot of matches with her, and though she's buggy she just takes getting used to, and also USE HER SEARCH POWER the speed and info it can give you is crazy especially with perks like bbq
She looks bad and hard to play, not sure I'll be playing her much.
It’s very buggy but I don’t think it’s broken if anything I think she’s a bit weak I think the dog should have a circle around it so it can hit the survivor cause I’ve thrown the dog and alls they gotta do is move slightly and it misses
32:40 can u send the dog through that tiny gap on the bottom of the wall???
The most devastating bug is that you can’t pet the dog when survivors are standing too close to it.
Thank God police K-9's catch bad guys better than this dog catches survivors.
I would have loved for them to have given her different types of houndsense, probably through addons. Half duration where you see their aura for the whole duration, maybe 1/4 duration exposed. Like Red said, making getting caught by search very bad.
Using search with devour hope speed boost just makes you zoom
From my experimentation search is also good to gain distance
They gotta polish it, i think the stun is alright cuz catching anyone near a pallete would always be a free hit
Also personally i don't think grievous wounds is a good choice for pay off for hitting a detected survivor, i just feel like the killer is made to commit to chases more often than not but grievous wounds incentiveses not chasing the survivor who needs to mend
This was a hard watch its like a circle jerk hate train so much complaining and you were doing so well. The power looked like it worked fine except for here and there, the vibe in the vid was not it though will not be tuning in again 😭
i love her and she can quickly end chases but it's almost a gamble doing anything with the dog. it's like a slot machine. you could win big or lose it all
honestly its the first killer ive been excited about for a long time, and when she gets a few bugfixes and QoL changes like the hitbox treatment wesker got a few years ago I think we will finally have a killer that will peel me away from only playing billy 😀
