Honestly I’m fine with complicated and not have 350 hrs, as long as they are fun and have a cool aesthetic, I’m loving it lol
Now that you mention it I play this back in 2017
“This killer is no skill! Stop making these killers!”
“This killer needs too much skill! Stop making these killers!”
Huh?
Im always down for hard killers its honestly whats keeps me interested in dbd the only simple and easy killers i like are wraith and legion, my problem when the devs make a hard killer their are people that complain that its to much work and all that bs that the devs will obviously cater to them perfect example of the killers that were made easier singularity for me he went from the hardest killers in the game to a mid tier difficulty now same for billy super difficulty killer but one small change in the turn rate brought the difficulty down a lot, what scares me in upcoming is unknown getting this treatment and pinhead, the devs are slowly removing this skill from some killers.
Even though I might get annoyed with some killers, if they take skill to actually use then that’s fine (for example, Deathslinger and Xeno). While they might be annoying, they do actually take skill to play. Shooting a survivor is not as easy as it looks, and Xeno’s tail attack can be difficult to master at first. If you’re facing someone who’s good with them though it often times feels like there’s nothing you can do.
I don't think older DBD players necessarily want complex killers they want skill expressive killers but those are often correlated. Killers like Huntress and Blight are very simple to understand killers but have very high skill ceilings and expression. Having multiple abilities or forms doesn't mean these killers necessarily have high skill expression. I fear BHVR is starting to go down the road where they feel they need to start topping the previous character. Thinking that since the past character had 3 different abilities then if the next killer has less or isn't as complex it'll be a step backwards. League of Legends is so far down this road that they can't turn back to simple characters, so every new character has 700 different things, and I really hope BHVR doesn't follow that.
Honestly they should release more killers like Wesker, whit a very low skill floor but have a stupid high skill ceiling
That can possibly make both old and new players happy
I can see but don't understand people saying Dracula is just reused powers.
He is the first shape shifting killer, the closest you can bring a comparison is Doctor stance change.
Hellfire is the most punishing power if you try to zone with it, and also the only power that can scalate highs/lows up to 1.5 metres.
Wolf has a very low to ground body along double pounce, the closest would be Wesker but you can see and prepare for Wesker unlike a small wolf.
Vecna is easy (:
I think a high skill floor is fine, if their skill ceiling is high as well. Dracula at his best is just sort of okay. Vecna isn't that great either since his nerfs. Not a bad killer, but just not really worth investing that time in. Compare to like, Singularity who is also considered very technically difficult, even with recent quality of life changes; a good Singularity can absolutely dominate matches, even in comp.
I disagree that BHVR can't add new simple mechanics and objectives. They absolutely can. But it takes more work than just slighrly tweaking existing powers, and whenever they try to introduce something new, everyone calls it uncounterable anti-fun garbage because it forces them to play differently than they're used to.
This is why I prefer killers who have alternate objectives like pig, sadako, pinhead etc., because even if they're not the strongest,it makes matches different and interesting.
I want waaaaaaay more high skill characters. It gives me so much more incentive to get into the game and really learn the new killer, because I feel more rewarded in doing so.
I completely agree with liking more complex killers. I've been playing since 2017, and as of 2022 switched completely over to playing on Steam. (I think 2022 atleast lol) I'm not the best player since I used to play once in a blue-moon, but I played enough over the years to where simple killers were sort of boring for me, and now The Unknown, Vecna, and Dracula are some of my favorite killers to play, even though they are hard to learn. Though I will admit sometimes I'll want to go back to a more simple killer to relax a little (I usually go back to play Nemesis or Xeno)
Besides that, you did make me realize that the FNaF Chapter will most likely have a massive influx of players, and that it will probably be a more simple killer. Personally i'm a big FNaF fan and I hope that he is a more complex killer so there will be a lot to learn, therefore making me spend more time learning him- But I understand why it would be more simple to appeal to the new players.
I wouldn't say most of the killers that've been coming out recently have very high skill floors, is the thing. Sure, give a new player Knight, Singu or Unknown and toss them into a match, and they'll probably have no idea what they're doing– but most of the killers that've come out in the past couple years, like Wesker, Skull Merchant, Chucky, Drac, Vecna, and Xeno all have some sort of basic tool that they can use and fall back on for zoning, which, in a lobby full of beginners, might be enough to bag a win on its own. Most killers in this game do have a low skill floor regardless of how complex they are, if for no other reason than DBD itself really not being a mechanically complicated game
You kept calling Dracula complicated, but I think the correct word is complex. Don’t sue me if I’m wrong.
Unknown should not be lumped in.
I think it's better to aim for simplicity. Easy to learn, difficult to master. Complexity doesn't necessarily mean there is higher skill involved.
I don't mind new killers being complicated to play as, but when playing as survivor it's annoying to not know what to do to counterplay and it's not like I can choose to play against a specific killer over and over to gain that knowledge.
Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'd rather have a killer who stands out from the others even at the cost of being more complicated rather than a killer with very basic gameplay. I don't want another M1 killer.
Had the game since the start but don't play consistently. If you got like 2,000+ hours, get a life G
This debate amuses me. There are over 3 dozen killers in the game. That's a lot. There are few conceptual options left that haven't already been used. So you either start introducing game breaking things like the Nurse, or you just make the new guys more complex. It's inevitable. Personally, I prefer the high skill floor characters. The dedication cost of fully exploring and learning your kit comes with the payoff of having an adaptable killer power and wider perk synergy.
I believe that rn, behaviour is going one of the worst ways possible.i actually am on quite the opposite of what you said, about these killers being"skill based",they're literally not,not even a bit.the last like 6 or 7 killers(vecna, dracula, xeno, etc.)are all generally 3-4 killers in one.
There are 2 problems with this:
1.Theres nothing unique about these killers except for the characters themselves. They're just a copy n paste from most og killers/ a 4 in one killer.this is a big problem since theres nothing unique coming out, wich will be the downfall of this game if this continues,i guarantee.
2.The reason why these killers are not skill based at all but absolutely infuriating, is because there is almost 0 counter play.all of them have multiple powers and if one thing gets done(like dropping a pallet),well, just use your ranged ability, or your dash, or teleport,or this and that.its just absolutely unfun.skull merchant still the worst and would be happy if she actually gets removed from game, same goes for sable ward, not even kidding.
You forgot to mention the singularity as a complicated killer, before his QOL changes he was the most difficult killer to master.
The singularity is still hard to master, it’s just a tad bit easier now.
firstly, I reaaaaly want to know what was the last killer that is not complicated. Wesker? Sadako?
Secondly, I really like Vecna and Drac simply because their multipowers create a feeling of constant action. "I need to use this and swap to that" "Oh, I missed with that now I need this to account for my mistake" "now this then this anf go there" Its really fun, and also feels not stale. Like Blight or Xeno can be active too, but it's always the same. Run to the tree, bumb, go tunnel destroy turrets. But when you constantly using three or four different powers, you simply don't get tired of using one and only thing over and over again
fun fact: the wolf hug tech is being removed as BHVR responded someone reporting it as an issue.
we have wolf hug tech for another week or so tops, so have fun with it while it lasts.
….. theres no way Dracula is considered to have a high skill floor. Ceiling sure but floor? Yeah he has 3 forms but they all do super simple stuff.
I don’t know to me at least I love hard to understand characters and vecna was never hard for me and to me his spells are really not complicated
I'm not opposed to Killers with a lot of mechanics, though the devs have generally been pretty good about complex Killers introducing some sort of mechanic for the survivors to interact with. Vecna's Treasure chests, Xenomorph's Turrets, Singularity's EMPs, etc. Everyone has more stuff to keep track of.
Yeah the Xenomorph has their Tunnels and Tail Attack that enables a higher level of skill expression, but the survivors can have some degree of elevated counterplay beyond, "just learn to dodge/loop better", if they're smart with use their flamethrower use. It spices up the usual gameplay.
Dracula feels kind of meh to go against as Survivor because I'm expecting there to be some kind of interesting mechanic to accompany the Killer having access to 3 different forms. But it really just boils down to, "Is he in Vampire or Doggo Form? Now learn to dodge/loop better."
The different forms get compared to pre-existing Killers because there's not really enough unique or interesting about playing against Dracula beyond calling upon your pre-existing knowledge of playing against a PHead/Blight/Spirit depending on what form he's in at the moment.
this community is crazy lol
The bat would be spirit like IF THE BATS WERENT SO FREAKIN LOUD
I dont like complex killers. I like simple killers like wesker, chucky and pyramidhead. Killers like dracula, singularity and vecna are too much for me.
