Hey everyone. Today we’re looking at what I think is the most problematic chapter in the game. The chapter that has caused the most issues, and ironically, I also think it’s the chapter that lead to the game’s success too, which is why I think it’s worthy of a video. I’m not gonna waste your time. I think it’s Chapter 2: The HALLOWEEN Chapter.

I mean halloween did set the floor so we could walk
Old haddonfield houses were actually so much better imo. Maybe I'm looking back with rose tinted glasses but I don't remember the houses themselves being bad. The new houses are so awful
I dont think tools of torment was problematic at all. Unfortunately skull merchant was just released at a time when the game was focused around 3 gens anyway. All killers were 3 genning at that time and slowdown perks were king. Skull merchant just Unfortunately took advantage of the style of play that was ruling the game at the time
I don't think it's that accurate to say to this day dying light doesn't have a clear place and no one seems to know what it's meant to be. Imo it's very clearly supposed to be a perk that gives a strong gen slowdown effect in exchange for removing healing slowdown (or at least making your healing slowdown much harder to do).
The current dying light at full stacks is a pretty good slowdown… Only issue is that since the stacks are tied to hooks it gives it to you when you need it least, at the end of the game. On top of what you need being given too slowly and primarily when you don't need it, the downside it comes with is given to the survivors when they need it MOST, throughout the whole game whenever they need healing.
The best thing to ever come to the game. Well the first two I bought were the hell priest and the executioner
Maybe scratched mirror isn't necessarily problematic, but its at least poorly designed. It pretty much requires a map offering to use otherwise you are genuinely throwing the game by running it. Its also (in my opinion) one of the most boring things in the game to go against. Its definitely immersive but that shouldn't be valued over whether its actually fun.
I despise the Haddonfield map and will either AFK, or DC if I get that map as Killer. The Shape needs a rework as well.
This was really fun and interesting. I hope you do more videos like this for the other chapters.
Lmao I love how your talking about how problematic myers is as you get stuck on a bush 1:30 😂
I'm still really impressed by how hard the license carries the chapter. We have really bad Survivor perks, 1 good Killer perk and 2 trash ones, a universally hated map, and a Killer that, depending on whether or not you bring Tombstone, is either a generic M1 Killer with half a TR or you get instantly killed 2 minutes in after not seeing him the entire game.
And yet, people love it. People claim that "Myers is the only Killer that's actually scary", which is false for a number of reasons:
1. There's a difference between getting startled and being scared.
2. There's plenty of other Killers that both startle and scare better than Myers, including but not limited to Ghost Face, Dredge, Spirit, Huntress, and Trapper.
3. Even if Myers was the best at startling people, it only happens once a match. Afterwards, you know it's a Myers, and you know how to deal with him.
People say Myers is a really enjoyable Killer to play, which, again, intrigues me. For all intents and purposes, Myers is the DBD equivalent of a stat-checker. He has a smaller TR, can periodically be able to instadown and vault faster, and he starts the game Undetectable. Logically speaking, there's not a single thing about Myers that is interesting or unique. Back when Myers was the 5th playable Killer, sure, he was unique. Not like he brought anything new to the table, since Wraith had stealth and Billy had insta-downs, but he was a solid addition to the roster.
Nowadays? Even if we ignore that Ghost Face is just Myers if he was actually good (funny, Ghost Face improved upon Myers twice: once in the Scream franchise, and once in DBD), his power is just that he has better stats and a shit early game. And even then, he's soon to be outclassed in that too, since Chucky's primary power is just being small and 3rd person.
Compare that to Demise of the Faithful, probably the single best chapter this game has ever had, and no one talks about it, because it's Plague. Not Freddy Kreuger, not Michael Myers, not Albert Wesker, but Plague, an original Killer that was made in what is currently the middle years of the game's life.
Honestly.. I've played Dbd since the start of this year.. 400+ already sank into it.. But till this day Michael myers is still the scariest.. I was never a massive fan of the films, only watching a few of them. Though they were good still. I still can't help but legitimately be scared of him, not having the heartbeat warning, catching him in the distance just staring at you as he charges up his attack etc. Very well made imo and something always feels different when I play against him.
Im a slightly new player, been playing for 4 months. I never knew of this before! Love this video man!
Haddonfield is far from the most problematic Chapter in DBD history. Even if we exclude Chapters which made the game unplayable…Twins…. The endless corn is certainly a deal worse than any variant of Haddonfield. Even Backwater Swamp has had more notorious issues.
I apologize for what turned into an essay below…
In terms of killers who broke the game or caused outrage by something to-do with the Killer. Not map or survivors.
Nurse (people will always complain about her)
Freddy (more than once)
Spirit (pre-3.4.0 there has never been a killer so easy to play who was so broken and strong. Chucky may rival her)
Plague (broken status effect was uncommon and it took people a while to learn to play against her. Even to this day people struggle)
Blight (most 'dummy easy' killer since Spirit, also the original version of Hex: Undying)
Twins (their chapter literally broke the game for months and people quit in droves)
Cenobite (was very strong in his first month since people were still learning his box spawn logic)
Skull Merchant (start of the 3 gen era, overall poor chapter)
Chucky (people are saying he may be the third S tier killer if they don't tone down his power alone, never mind add-ons)
In terms of survivors who came along and broke the game for extended periods of time…
Claudette (self-care memes and its reputation exist for a reason)
Laurie Strode (the DS problem)
David (the reign of Dead Hard which lasted through its 'first nerf')
Kate (Boil Over brings new power to bully squads)
Ash (literally a wide-ranging history of broken perks, both good and bad)
Élodie (in addition to being part of the most bugged chapter in DBD history she busted our eardrums and brought Power Struggle which bully squads love to this day)
Mikaela (remember CoH in its original form? Even after its first nerf it was incredibly OP and remains strong to this day)
Ada (brought us Low Profile which selfish solo queue players run as a mandatory perk to find hatch)
Gabriel (MFT)
Nicolas Cage (people just use him to meme)
Maps which have caused no lack of drama as a result of being broken or favoring one side too hard. I will NOT include maps that are 'killer dependent' to be killer sided. However, if one killer (say Trapper) is bad on a map I will not factor the one killer in….
Coldwind maps, heavily favor survivors from the day they entered the game. Map makes it hard to see survivors in the corn as they can break line of sight easily. In addition they were just very big maps and were the largest in the game and are still relative large.
Crotus Prenn (Nurse) is another map that most survivors absolutely love due to its large size and line of sight blockers.
Haddonfield (Halloween) was formerly a very survivor sided maps due to the number of infinite loops, but has since been fixed.
Backwater Swamp (Hag) remains a fairly survivor sided map in most instances, so long as (like any map) you don't three gen yourself. Very large and many strong loops.
Léry's Memorial (Doctor) is our first killer sided map. Relatively small and easy to patrol without needing line of sight on generators.
Red Forest (Huntress). Mother's Dwelling was the largest map by a lot and may still be such to this day. Survivor sided due to strong loops and large size means the killer has to spend more time searching.
Springwood (Freddy), despite being a square it is incredibly large and has a lot of space for killers to cover. Survivor sided.
Yamaoka Estate (Spirit), though actually quite balanced the line of sight blockers are lacking and is one of the maps killers do not mind. Killer sided.
Ormond (Legion), survivor sided. Very large, awful main building, strong loops. Survivor sided.
Dead Dawg (Deathslinger) is killer sided. Easy to patrol and the main building can be avoided at no consequence to the killer.
RPD (Nemesis). Survivor sided do to its massive size in its original format and is still relatively large in its current.
Eyrie of Crows (Artist) originally incredibly survivor sided it was a stupid large map which they literally remove a third of to just balance it (previously survivor sided)
Garden of Joy (Dredge) tries to compete for the largest map award and comes close. Certainly one of the favored survivor maps by a mile.
The Shattered Square (Knight) is an awful map to patrol. Though not overly large the whole aesthetic of the map makes it hard to see scratch marks or survivors at a distance. Though the line of sight blockers are not the strongest there are some god loops. Survivors.
So, my point? In terms of chapter 'features and balance' Halloween is no worse than Freddy, Spirit, or Nurse's chapters. Though the mechanics can swing one way or another, in each chapter I would argue that Freddy was the worse chapter by far in balance terms.
While Laurie did bring us DS and Haddonfield…DS is ONE perk…Haddonfield is one map which some killers (in time) wouldn't struggle on as much as others). Even at release Nurse didn't care if she was on Haddonfield or Corn Central. Hell, she probably prefers Haddonfield.
Myer's power, though 'strong' for the time was not fundamentally broken and people learnt to counter him quick and easy. Unlike Nurse, or Blight who remain strong, or with Spirit who they had to nerf so much that she still remains a solid mid A tier killer.
Freddy gave us a map that was and is so awful than even high mobility killers loathe it.
Though Quentin did not bring any perks worth remembering (pun) Freddy was so much of a problem.
Starting with perks…though Fire Up was never meta it was a solid choice for the day it came out
Remember Me, though not 'meta' was a very strong perk and a 'safe one' at the time as its first form gave you a whole 20 to 30 seconds at max. Until recently it was nerfed from 8-16 seconds. It saw enough use to be nerfed into the ground.
Now we got Blood Warden. Next to NoEd it is the MUST endgame perk to this day.
Now lets look at Freddy's power alone…how many times has it been reworked to where it felt like it could be a new killer? Too many.
Just one patch (not hotfix) after release was the first time they had to gut Freddy (he was not even that strong beyond seeing survivors). He used to be able to see survivors when they left his terror radius (which was very small), used to suffer a movement penalty when putting survivors to sleep (which was the easiest way to tunnel and kill them since you had to do it manually), and survivors who were in the Dying State were still asleep.
The very next patch they eased up on his movement penalty for putting people to sleep. At this point Freddy was dead in the water and no one touched him.
After that he was gutted and only had QoL stuff (mostly bug fixes) until patch 3.1.0….OVER A YEAR AND A HALF LATER
This is the first rework (3.1.0) where Freddy became stupid powerful. This was…Forever Freddy era.
He becomes more like what we see today…except…
After each time being woken up by a survivor made it take longer next time to wake them up.
Dream pallets become a thing.
Freddy can teleport to gens.
From July 2019 (3.1.0) to May 2021 (4.7.0) Forever Freddy haunts people with….
Swing Chains which gave them a repair penalty while asleep (3% and then 2% PER survivor)
Black Box made is so the obsession could not wake up from the Dream World
Jump Rope, a 9% and then 4% Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions.
Outdoor Rope, a 2% Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions.
I think you get the idea. Freddy could give people up to a whopping 21% action penalty. None of there were even iri add-ons. Swinging chains was purple and jump rope was green.
as a michael player, i dont see how people think hes a bad killer. i have a little over 300 hours in the game and i still consistently get all four survivors killed. in games when im paired with people way higher above my skill level i lose of course but thats not michaels fault. i find him super fun and its hard to counter a myers who knows what hes doing
myers is too OP when at tier 3 with the add on, instant death to survivor
Killers all have bloodlust, let’s talk about that lol fences are nothing but I agree with some of your other points tho
Haddonfield today has a few buildings with double window loop that is pretty much running inside and out of the house until the window is blocked by them vaulting it too much, bamboozle which i normally run usally counters these to an extent, but still difficult to mindgame those building tiles.
It's hilarious that STBFL went from the definition of speed to being the worst perk to use on M2 killers.
6:37 DID HE FAKE GOING AROUND? oh I’m gonna run head first into so many pallets tryna get that
Myers can fully remove many people from the game within like 1.5 minutes. He has no terror radius 99% of the time and unlike GF you can’t stop him from stalking or hiding his terror radius and his exposing is for all survivors not just the one he was able to stalk. Also, let’s be real, no one plays him w/o the purple or iridescent perks. And even w/o them he’d still be a normal strength to strong killer, not a weak one.
hey man, uh
the myers house and the house of pain are two totally different tiles
9:55 bro tf r u laughing at
Myers is one of my favorite killers. The stalking mechanic works i think and as any other killer you need to learn how to play hum. Meaning, sometimes is not bad to hot the survivor if you the oportunity instead of standing there for example. The ONLY thing i think they sould change is the limite of the power as you stated because is the ONLY caracter which gets to a point where his power stops completly. My sugestion would be simply a cooldown when a survivor is maxed out. After a minute for example you could stalk them again. Allowing you to jeep tour power and somehow not exploiting a single survivor.
i hate only one character and its trickster… when i started playing the game 4-5 years ago from now it was scary… when huntress started sing near me i felt it down my spine and everything when trapper chased me it was scary or when i spotted ghostfaces face across the shack while doing a gen i almost pissed myself… then they add K-pop singer… like what the actual fuck… he seems like survivor… first of all times i missed him cuz i tought its my friend next to me…. and in general he just doesnt add to the "horror" feel of the game… like if u have seen any of the killers IRL u could be scared but by trickster ? i would laugh… broke the spirit of game for me…
Who cares? If I can just grab a survivor and kill them with certain add-ons then that's an S tier for me.
I hope they will never remove Tombstone add-ons, it's one of the last things we have for casual giggling, removing or nerfing Tombstone would ruin one of the only funny elements we have in the game left.
It can feel unfair at times, but it's not like we meet a Tombstone Myers every game
"And hopefully by the end I can convince you"
Having played when it came out, I already believe you.
