Were you stunned by that big Critical Role reveal? Would you play a beholder killer in Dead by Daylight…and what about the now yearly warhammer price increase? Let us know!
With what I know about the attempt that Rooster Teeth made on making a video game, it's a possibility that it "could" end badly, and there might be very little to no activity after 6 months after the release. But, with CR, it's a possibility that there'll be a decent turn out for it. You'll definitely get the hardcore/die-hard fans that'll get it for sure.
Watching Critical Role on Thursdays has been almost a right for me…Of course I am still binging on Campaign 2 to catch up being on ep.12 means I may not finish before Campaign 3 is over…😏
I think deciding to make a video game and buying or starting a game studio for that purpose is not the best way to go about it. I hope existing game studios with ideas for games and people passionate about those ideas reach out to them instead, so they can collaborate with them.
Honestly the "I dont trust the gods!" Debacle is getting very old.
Like yeah dorian you got screwed by one of the most evil gods in existence that was banished for a reason. What does she have to do with all the other prime gods that protected the world countless times and even behind the gate aided Vox Machina against Vecna. Not to mention the Wild Mother being clutch in campaign 2.
We need to get over the "gods are bad" story beat, its so stale.
Wish you had gotten the scoop on cr3 but lucky for me I heard it here first. What is that robot in the animation beginning
I say Critical Role team up with Larian Studios since apparently, they're breaking away from D&D… although the studio said that they wanted to break away from D&D related content, but it's wishful thinking.
There is NO such thing as AI 'assisted' art.
Current AI does nothing but 'smoosh' existing images together. There is NOTHING 'intelligent' about it.
All current AI just seems 'artistic' because it steals aspects from hard working artists and basically creates a 'collage' of images based on what it 'learned/stole' from human artists.
Hell, the same can be said about AI writing, AI assistants or even AI 'generated' anything.
As we witness "AI" today, it's NOT intelligence.
AI is just the result of our 8th grade selves creating a 'collage' art piece in woodshop by stealing images from other media and adding a 'glossy' coat of clear veneer on top of it.
So our 'AI' today, can't produce ANYTHING truly original.
Why? because it is 'trained' on shite that already was produced by a HUMAN being.
That is not 'intelligent', that is just 'creative copying'.
I love the Critical Role campaign spoilers since I'm not gonna watch it anyway
Wait… Kickstarter said they could re-do their campaign if they just remove the NFT aspect, and they went out and told their audience "Kickstarted banned us because we used AI"? So in other words… they straight-up lied to their potential backers in order to take advantage of the current tornado of AI hatred when that wasn't even the problem in the first place?
They definitely seem like upstanding folks there… yep, very Shakespearean levels of "honourable men"…
GW raising prices? No way.
My dream idea for Critical Role's video game?
A Final Fantasy Tactics-style campaign crossover game co-published by a smaller indie game studio with a proven track record and could use the bump.
If anything, why not critical role work with larian? They know how to make good games, take feedback and still take care of their employees. And made a crap ton of cash, and praise from the awards and gaming community
Is it really news when Games Workshop does what GW does??!?
CR is all over the place. They are still demanding money for, let's be honest, too many things and not so great quality content since campaing three
Does GamesWorkshop have no grip on reality? Warhammer minis are already insanely expensive that it's literally cheaper to buy a decent 3d printer these days. Let that sink in for a moment.
No you never buy a failed studio.
License it.
I don't think Critical Role buying a game studio is the play, BUT with Larian Studios departure from WoTC and Hasbro… That would be the smart play and could be used as a stepping stone to their own studio.
While I no longer play any CCGs, I now fear for their future a little more. If that AI card game is actually successful, then companies such as Hasbro will put on the pressure for their own card games — like Magic — to do the same, even after the vocal opposition they have already dealt with.
