1. So during the DBD Public Test Build I noticed that my survivor lobbies were being filled with perkless bots. Yesterday a dev confirmed that bots will be used in the future to fill event queues if lobby times become to long. Will we see bots in the Chaos Shuffle tomorrow? In the 2v8 event queues in the future? Most likely. Let me know what you think about this.

   Remember these bots are intended to only be used for events which is considered more casual play, not for the normal 4v1 live games.

   Let's discuss the possibility of these bots being used and I want you to share your thoughts on whether this is a good thing or a bad thing from your perspective for the game.

   Here's the DBD forums thread where the dev confirmed they may fill lobbies with bots to ease queue times for events. You can add your own opinion to the thread or simply read what others think. But definitely tell me what you think in the comments below please!

2. I think it's a really bad idea. If I wanted to play with bots I should just play custom. I feel like it would make 2v8 and other modes way more unappealing which would make no one want to play them. And if they added bots to normal games too it would be a catastrophic mistake, making the game lose players and eventually lead to the games demise. What makes DbD fun is that it's real people.

Personally Survivor bots need a rework, and personally I think this is fine, but I don’t want them to add too many bots however I’m fine with it, but I do think they need a full rework to how they work, because most of the time they’ll do gens and save people off hooks, and sometimes heal, but other than that they can be useless and boring when in chase.

4. When someone dcs, I’m going STRAIGHT to the bot 😂 they have an inhuman ability to efficiently focus on task and loop you.

5. They need to have a Casual Mode (Where you are matched with anyone no matter the rank) and a Competitive Mode.

6. Ya know when someone DCs I felt it helps in ways for them to help unhook heal etc..and recall when someone would DC back on the day u lost a whole other helping hand.. so based on knowing what it was like vs now I like they do try but the only thing I really hate is the fact they can open the gates and leave.. they need to turn them off from touching end game gates so we have a chance ya know

7. It's the usual bhvr bandaid solution.

   They need to address WHY ppl don't want to play as some roles in some modes. But as usual naaaah just do sth nobody asked for.

8. Only use bots to replace teammates that DC or in practice to try killers. If they use bots to make queue times faster then DbD will be ruined.
   I mean they’re already pumping out skins and battle passes which is a sign of the last years of a game.

9. the bots in custom mode know how to loop, at least a bit, they're easily predictable but they can loop, mostly because they have wall hacks, which is why i am fine with them for replacing players or event queues that are getting long. Me personally i could care less about bots, if i wanna play DBD i usually play bots anyway because i dont have the patience to deal with toxic survivors and 3 gens popping after i finish my first chase, despite only being in chase for like 30 seconds to a minute. for 2v8 i'm fine with this. Also people that bitch about bots are kinda short sighted because if someone dc's at least the bot actually preoccupies the killer or pressures a gen instead of leaving 3 people to fend for themselves. All bhvr need to do is remove the DC penalty now because bots replace DCers. Other wise people just kill themselves on hook and then we have the same issue we had before bots replaced DCing survivors.

10. I do not want to play with any bots, AT ALL! I wish they would remove them from being DC stand ins now! The game should just end when someone DC's in the first 3 minutes.

    Just like Crossplay, there should be an option to opt out. I would think a large majority would opt out of playing with bots. This will definitely get long time players to fall off… AKA: the beginning of the end of DBD. I've played over 10K hours. This would definitely help push me away from this game unless they make them as good as a mid-tier player. Loop skills, gen rush, etc…

11. If the bots were better, it wouldn't be that bad but I'm not thrilled about bot fills as they are. DC bots are fine because at least it's another target for the killer but just to fill a lobby? Nah.

12. I like the idea of bots if they are pushing for ai killers as well as ai survivors, I wouldn't nearly mind as much about dcing teammates if I had a chance of an easy ai killer.

13. Bots: Person leave or DC's, Rest of team DCs/leaves minus me. Killer tunnels me. Bots win.

14. Having played many a match where everyone DCs and turns the game into just a Custom match you can't leave, I am both for and against this. On the one hand, 2v8 makes the game unplayable for people who don't have time to play lobby simulator, so bots would make that better. On the other, there are a good amount of Killers that just don't work with Bots; the Bots automatically dodge projectiles, they have Wallhacks so they always know the Killer is approaching even if undetectable, and for a good chunk of the Killer roster there's no mind games to playing against Bot; they all play the same, meaning you're going to be doing the same thing in every chase to get the hit and down.

    Also, Bots know where hexes are, are constantly working the objective if left alone, and are generally just unfun to play against. I'll begrudgingly accept them for things like 2v8, because again the queue times make playing during the mode a slog, but I don't want them anywhere near the base game or event modes.

15. for the 2v8 and remove the time it takes to find a match i belive the bots would make that better. 10 20 min is a long time for waiting. for other events i dont think the lobby takes that long to find a match. sometimes super fast sometimes slower. but not longer then other games i would say. would i mind playing against bots. depends. me just doing the killer stuff to get blood points. dont care about any out come. well sure ill do bot games. but i prefer the player vs player with players game mode. i would say they are more then welcome to bring them into the game. if it dosent work out and moste of the players dont like it well. they tried and removed it. its nice that they try to make stuff better. its a fun game with friends and to watch on stream etc. so im all for it

16. I would take waiting 2/5 mins in a event and 15 mins 2 vs 8 then VS/having bots in my games.

18. Last time I checked this was a pvp game. Lol I guess that's what happens when your survivor base quits dbd. Killers are so busted you have to have bots to fill the games

19. did the devs for get about play with friends swfs and solo qu? and this what happens when you cater to the killer side nowadays and not the survivor side, there are not a lot of survivors mains to go around anymore and now killer mains are faced with this

20. An idea for a work around… in 2v8, give a full bot lobby like every 6th match to killers but as a trade off make that match is 3x blood points.

21. Hey Paulie, I’m about to watch your video but before I do, a thought came to me about the bot situation. All beHaivor has to do is make it to where a player can toggle the bots on or off. This toggling would not include when players Dc. Basically, just like we can toggle cross play on and off, if we are able to toggle bots on and off that would please players who hate long que times and don’t care who is on their team. It would also appeal to those who don’t want bots at all as they could just toggle them off. The only “down side” would be longer que times for them most likely. This is actually the case already with disabling cross play. So, longer que times wouldn’t be that hard to understand for those who don’t want to play with bots. To be clear though, toggling bots “on” wouldn’t automatically put bots in the match, it would just make it to where if the que times took maybe too long that the player would get teamed up with a bot to help the que time. The bots name tag should be the generic charceter name so they don’t get tunnled out or miss treated…lol but yeah, those are my thoughts. Btw thank you for telling us all about dbd mobile leaving the App Store etc. i just got my rewards for it. Thank you 🙏

23. What I think about bots?… They at least play the game, badly but they do. Better a bot teammate than dead teammate. Also, the bots didn't change queue times on the PTB at all ( because there really wasn't anything interesting for survivors) and it just… Can't BHVR just make the PTB changes an event in live servers like for example like Testing Grounds in For Honor? People wouldn't need to install the second version of DBD everytime, queue times would be faster, console players would join and maybe they could even make that you can pre-order DLCs which is money for BHVR while the hype is there

25. I kept a timer going on some of my Killer Queue times, sadly my longest was 58 minutes. I’m not sure splitting the game modes was a good thing because it brought the concept of using bots to help the queues. I don’t remember having a queue time problem back when an event was just in the background and not a separate mode. I’m okay with 2-4 bots if it’s 2v8 🙂 but I’ll gladly take a bot in 1v4 if it cuts my 58 wait time to 8 minutes

26. Just got done watching your video. Here’s what I think about playing with bots. I am really bad at the killer role. Tbh I feel like they secretly give me bots to play against bc I’m always going against someone with boil over…. But in all seriousness, tbh on the killer side I think I’d only want to see like maybe 1 bot if the que times are stupidly long. I haven’t experienced long que times. Maybe my mmr is so low and that’s why? So, que times aren’t an issue for me. I just played a match as Nemisis and I brought the survivors to RPD and used a full undetectable build in an attempt to have some fun and scare the survivors by being somewhat lore accurate. If I had 4 bots to play against I would feel like there was no point in playing bc the survivors wouldn’t have had fun with me bc they would have been bots and not been surprised by my build. I let everyone escape btw. I wanted them to have fun and a good jump scare or two. On the survivor side, I wouldn’t mind playing with at least one bot if the que times were long. I do feel it’s more fun with 4 survivors and that would be my preference. I think for new players to dbd maybe bots on both sides would be a good starting place for at least one match. After that match they should be told they have the option to turn off bots with the exception of when someone dc’s from the match. I think having the option to have bots on may help. Maybe someone might feel like human players are too difficult to go against. In that case then maybe turning on bots would make 1-2 bots be put into the match. Maybe that algorithm would match other players who also have bots turned on. My overall preference on both killer and survivor is to have all human players. However, I would occasionally turn on the bot option if I’m not feeling my strongest that day. But most of the time I would have human all players preferred. 🎉 thanks again Paulie.

27. Bring them. 2 bots per lobby in 2v8 would be great.

    Of course, keep them out of regular 1v4 beyond dcs.

I'm sure this has already been suggested but regarding 2v8 mode, someone that wants to play as killer should be able to queue up for killer and while you're in that queue you can ready up to play a match as survivor. Like you said, Paulie, 2v8 matches are generally 10 mins long on average. So your survivor match is done and you're still in the killer queue. Ideally this means you almost immediately have a match ready as killer, maybe 1 or 2 min wait at this point, if not immediately. I think BHVR should at least try this out. This means less down time for everyone and streamers have something to stream while waiting for their killer match.

29. For me its totally fine. i prefer a shorter que over a long que.
    Many friends said to me the killer que times are insane long in event modes and wish not to wait so long.

31. If I wanted bots I’d play a custom game 😂wtf this is terrible. I wouldn’t wanna have actual person & have a team full of bots.. but 2v8 I can kinda see it but it’s not fun with bots

32. Bots are far from perfect, but I will happily take them over some cry babies offing themselves on hook. If somebody DCs and leaves a bot behind, at least it's something. Wheras people throwing in the towel on hook (sometimes in games that are still perfectly winnable) always leaves the team with a massive handicap, which is insanely selfish and, quite frankly, pisses me off. It's not just a matter of going next but the entire remaining team getting sandbagged, just because someone is throwing a fit.

    Either the DC penalty or the self-unhook + struggle phase gimmick needs to go. Because I am beyond fed up with this BS. The game is fine with letting people on the ground for 4 minutes, but gives them a cop out on hook, which is just asking for the exact problem that we have right now.

33. You know, I wouldn't mind trying having bots in 2v8. Killer queues are way too long, and I think it's easier to win as a survivor. We have to test them eventually.

    Adding 2 bots in each match wouldn't hurt that much. 6 players and 2 bots would have perks, and to be honest, they're not terrible. I wonder if they're trying to make the bots smarter as well.

36. I wanna believe that if they buffed the incentives, people would play. But they need to be more than Bloodpoints. Put some Iri Shards in those incentives after 100% BP and see what happens. Bots are a real spanner in the mix as they still have some funky AI that can ruin games.

37. Im surprised they haven’t added killer bots for when killers DC.

    Or maybe the fact the game ends just means that ppl don’t wanna face bots. So why don’t just end the game when a survivor DC?

    Seems like ppl play DbD to make it the worst experience possible for the other side. At least that is the echo im getting from reading online about DbD.

39. I don't believe having bot teammates really impacts the gauging of a reworked/new killer.

    How quickly they can get downed or even make macro decisions doesn't really affect the, at least for me, interesting part of the killer which is mainly the chase aspect.
    As long as I consistently get in a chase with the killer, that's all I would really care for in a PTB environment, I want to know what it's like to truly go against them, and chase is pretty much where it's at for most killers.

40. What's ruin it for me is to many killers in the game and same ole drag, chunky, ghostfaces, Myer's, huntress, wraith, trapper Billy, & nemesis i barely see pig, spirit, hag etc so just stop playing entirely 😢

43. I don’t mind bots but I would only want 1. I don’t think it would be fun as survivor to land into a match where it’s you and 3 bots. I hardly play killer so I don’t really have an opinion on that side.

47. man…am I the only person who's gotten awesome bots?
    I saw a player bot out and then , Felix2-D2 took a P70 Doctor on a 3 gen chase…single circuitly turning the whole game around. 3 of us got out…bot caught the hook at the end.
    And this wasn't an isolated incident. I've seen it happen several times…

48. The ideal number of bots is ZERO. I happily play Civ 5 when i want to take a break from PvP. Theres barely enough patience in me for disconnect bots.
