Dead By Daylight posted what is presumably a teaser for Chapter 31 on their Instagram stories account today. The new chapter content will be revealed when Steam players get to test new content in the PTB (Public Test Build) on Tuesday February 20th. But this seems to be the first teaser with clues as to what can we expect in Chapter 31 for this new content, which will have a new killer, a new survivor, and a new map! I doubt we'll get a mimic / shapechanger (shape stealer) kind of creature without it being The Thing. It's just too iconic not to. I would love to get RJ MacReady as survivor too.
Sounds like a skinwalker, to the letter. Every single one of these characteristics is practically plagerized from native stories about them.

If they do add a mimic like killer it wont fool a single soul in dbd (ill be fooled) besides new players but itll be cool if it was a shape shifting killer unless they add game chat which prob wont happen and a bad idea
Was really hoping the doppelganger character would be The Thing, but it never technically had a beginning form so I understand why that'd be difficult to pull off

The first time I saw the snowmen I knew they could do a doppleganger. Either just choose a survivor or take a sample when you hit someone and then take on their appearance like a snowman.

I can imagen the chrismas event; Killer in a Snowman, jumps out in front of another surviver. The surviver feels save and tbags, while the skinwalker transforms and down the surviver while he screams. Already lovin it! xD
"Surrounded by forest" – definitely a windigo, original IP based on american folklore. Windigos are people who resorted to cannibalism to survive, over time having to survive in the forest they become more bestial, until no remnants of their humanity remains. Only a hunger for the human blood that gave them their supernatural strength and speed.
The idea of a skinwalker-esc character would be interesting as you cant exactly mimic voices when the only voices are from being injured or healed. It sounds super cool through the description and I love the deformed human aesthetic that many analog horror creatures have such as in Vita Carnis, excited to see what they give us
if and only if it is a killer that can take on the look of survivor (for any amount of time) it needs the following or it will not work: full access to survivor animations (actions, emotes, movements); ability to circumvent SWFs at least to a degree where they have to work a little bit together to figure out which is the real one; insta downs to compensate for the lost time it will take to "act" like a survivor, perhaps a stalking mechanic like ghost face but that requires extreme close proximity as they believe you and drop their guard.
Now this skinwalker killer may bring the horror back into DBD

wait a minute… the closet right there is transparent (u can see the stairs) and it kind of has a white aura around it and on the bottom side of it, it appears to have 2 faces on it; is this a mimic of a closet?
Wendigos can also mimic voices… just throwing that out there
The amount of people that don't include wendigos when talking about creatures that mimics familiar voices makes me sad
I cannot express just how badly I've wanted a Thing chapter, and this is probably the closest we'll get. Mimicry scares the FUCK outta me, and this chapter sounds like it's gonna be so fun
Sounds aweful simalier to the Wendigo from Until Dawn 😱 They live in a forest and mimic human voices to lure people in so this may be interesting.
I would love a doppleganger but swfs would never fall for it and it would destroy solo q so I do not see that happening.

I don't wanna get my hopes up yet, but im a sucker for folklore monsters & doppelganger horror. This chapter sounds promising & intriguing so far! Hope it's a good one!
this killer will be 100% trash if bvhr doesn't remove the hud when facing this killer! same will apply if the killer can only change to the person they attack, if the killer hits someone they need to be able to change into any survivor otherwise the killer will be garbage f teir!.
this killer should be able to remove HUD info and change into any surivvor they want after they m1 a surivvor!, due to survivors cheating with headsets or hud info you can't have a look a like surivovr the killer passives should be that hud info is removed from the match or requires survivors to do something before they can get it back!, either way hud info for surivovrs need to go vs this killer to work properly.
i really think they need to with this killer is make it so if the killer suprisses the surivvor they get to attack again almost instantly like a .50 or .75sec stun, however you cannot down the same surivvor for at least 8secs if you just hit the same survivor they just get deep wound put upon them. this will help the killer to try and get multiple people injured! instead of just attacking one survivor right away you can get a chance to m1 two right off the bat. the killers fast attack only procs if 2 surivvors are within a certain range of one another this way it doesn't hurt the killer just going around the map m1 attack other survivors by themselves.
but it would be really fun to regress gens with this killer while your working a gen, the killer would really need the ability to regress gens to a certain % so they're not wasting to much time since they doing nothing but waiting, they need to try and wait at times for a survivor to come back etc. same applies for fake healing or being a survivor and t-bagging or waving, crouching all of it to try and get the real survivor closer so the killer can go for a m1 attack.
imagine a killer having the ability to shapeshift into any random 4 survivor in the match and can do any intereaction a survivor can do except fixing generator, then it suddenly turn back into killer form infront of yo face
