It has been brought to my attention that it should happen this way, but still sucks on the receiving end lol

  1. For me two scenarios here:
First I did that too, and was about to kill the last survivor, but then they dropped their Map and I was like, looking down at the his item and then up to him after I hit him, and then he looked up at me and I couldnt kill him anymore xD Would have broken my heart

Second scenario: I completely murdered a whole team, straight up hooked 2 in the first few minutes and had the third one down (One unhooked himself then and they could recover a bit) After they recovered that, I managed to kill 2 on hook, bcs the 4 survivor I never found, never saw and they never helped their teammates so they all died on hook bcs of him, found the hatch and closed it, after a long search I found him standing on the hatch with a key, and uncloaked(was wraith) and went to him, endgame was already almost over and idfk why he did that, but he moved so weird that I managed to get on top of the hatch and he wasnt able anymore to use his key, so he died because of endgame, since I didnt hit him and let him realize that he is fucked now, felt so good that he died since I felt really sorry for the other survivors

  2. I put the last survivor down right next to the hatch and then proceeded to close it with them right on top of it. Then the next one I let them crawl to it then closed it and put them on a hook. Tell your friends not to t-bag 😂

  3. Idk if someone already said this, but here's a lil thing.
If you're downed on top of the hatch, you can actually win the standoff, even if the killer presses space before you do.
I found out about this last month, i was playing Billy and i had already started picking up the survivor, but he just escaped anyway lol.
I replicated it with a friend on a custom match and yes, it worked consistently

  4. If this happens to me it depends on how they played if they played bad then i let them go cuz they prob haven't won too many times if they played really good i hook them cuz they could prob win the next few games.

  5. As far as I know, this is meant to happen?

A lot of survivors don't seem to know, but the Killer can always close the hatch before you can jump into it. Unless they're lagging lol
I've shut hatches like this on many survivors.

  6. ive had this happen to me multiple times as survivor where you can see im about to jump into hatch but the animation immediately stops. it definitely prioritizes the killer closing.

  7. It's simply cuz the system favors us in terms of hatch. Fair reason tho, since they took regular grabs away and locked them to key usage grabs that only work for a literal quarter of a second.

For clarification: If you have a key and the killer is standing right behind you as you open it, there's a tiny chance it may grab you. That was the trade-off for removing hatch stand-offs along with the killer priority in that regard. I personally found it best to figure out where hatch was, figure out if the killer knew, then if they did I'd hide next to a gate and if they didn't, I'd wait close by.

  8. Sometimes when I play as killer and there is one survive left , I put them into the dying state then i take them near the hatch and let them crawl to it and once they are very close to the hatch i close it lmao but then I let them open the exit gate and escape cuz I feel bad
