  1. I actually got DBD when it was free and I still play it. There were a few times where steam players (Mostly SWFs) got pissed because they thought I was on console lmao. I even remember this one time some kate said "AHHH ITS SENTIENT!!" after I talked lol. I have dbd on steam now though

  2. Problem isn’t concept of going “Free” but more down to the client which is light years behind its competitor in terms of providing basic features

I mean we don’t even have an option of setting a profile pic or even message people from friends list on Epic & it’s 2023 for the love of god 😂

  3. Yep, no ptb and not even classed with steam players. Only good thing was it was free for a week so a lot of my friends got the game as a result and I was able to flex my dbd knowledge all of them

  4. You can still buy the game for 5 bucks, dont need a vpn or anything special. Cheating in this game is very very easy compared to other titles that don’t get discounted as much.

  5. As someone privy to cheating, specifically the kind of cheating people dbd hackers do with menus, the idea that it's even easier with epic games isn't surprising at all. There's several games where you can use even more cheats compared to epic games that would be an instaban on steam, it's kinda sad

  6. I was worried about this when DBD became free-to-play on Epic games in December cause the game was already dealing with a massive influx of cheaters at the time. Now, cheaters are more common to be on the Epic Games Launcher than Steam, while also having the ability to use anonymous mode to make it difficult to track anyone's profile. The worst part is if its a subtle cheater on that end w/ anonymous mode, its going to be incredibly hard to confirm if it actually was subtle cheats without checking hours, achievements, and etc.

Its nice that Epic Games brought more people to DBD, but I really wish BHVR thought about this issue sooner 😞

  7. i actually got into dbd(and found ur content) because it was free on epic, and ended up moving to the steam version during a sale. its sad to hear that something that was really special for me and my friends ended up hurting the community too

  8. DBD going F2P would absolutely only be reasonable if a proper anti-cheat was in place. Maybe some day the anti-cheat will be much better and cheating will be nearly non-existent, or perhaps free accounts get matchmade with other free accounts, etc. Making the game free, in the current state, would likely bring another surge of cheaters in, but with a more stable foundation DBD has all the makings of a great F2P game and I'd love to see it open up to more players in that way.

  9. here's my problem with that take. We can all agree that cheaters are assholes, no doubt about that. Game being free on Epic made it easier for them to get new accounts, and continue cheating, but it also gave people who couldn't afford the game, or weren't sure if they'll like it a way to play it. It was unarguably nice thing to do. Are you really gonna say nice thing shouldn't be done cause some assholes are gonna abuse it? By that logic no game ever should be f2p.
Sorry but that's an hard disagree from me.

  10. I think that something that gets missed a lot in this conversation is that you don't need to buy multiple copies or accounts to cheat on steam either. Buy it once on one account, and then just family share it to a burner account to cheat. Get banned? Create another burner and family share with them too.

  11. IMO PS+ SAVED DBD

Before it, DBD was full of controversy and bleeding players (although Pig was perhaps the true first step of today’s DBD).

After it came out so many people were playing it and YT DBD EXPLODED! That’s when guys like Noob3 exploded and manage to create a 1 million Sub audience out of nowhere.

Sure it will always be horrible to have free to play entry on the PC market.

But console hacking while possible has only become rarer.

Sure PS3/Xbox360 was full of hackers while it was THE console. But for the PS4 and nowadays with PS5 seeing a hacker in a non-Crossplay game is almost enjoyable because you almost never see them!

  12. Here waiting an in game profile that doesnt lead you to steam necessarily, but show up your hours, achievements and if you are in swf
That way it doesnt matter if you are in anonymous mode or if you are on console, people can know if your are legit or a cheater with that info

  13. i dont think them giving it away was such a big problem. most cheaters prob spend a lot on their cheats and im sure 6€ or how much dbd is on steam wouldnt have made a difference for them. i never would have started playing the game if it wasnt for epic and now i have nearly 1k hrs all dlc s and lots of cosmetics.. it was a good business decision imo and brought many new players in. and in my 1k hrs i found 2-3 cheaters so it doesnt feel that bad. +i think most cheaters that we have didnt start cheating just bc dbd was free on epic, it just became a bonus for them not to buy new accounts every time

  14. How about, the devs instead just fix the clustertruck that is their game? How about they simply fix the cheating problem instead of sitting with their thumbs up their asses making pride charms and shitty, buggy new killers?

  15. But You know that lot of games are free to play, like LoL, Fortnite or DoTa? Those games do not have as big problem as dbd, yet all of them are free… more on that, dbd had problems with cheaters also without epicgames. And more on that – even with the epicgames, Behaviour said they improve their anti-cheats.
There is just no connection between free game = cheaters.
Im not saying that being free did not bring more cheaters, it bring more players, and cheaters within them. What im saying is that its not "being free" fault. Its fault of poor anti-cheat.
Are You just jealous that some people got game for free? I also bought my version on steam, but im happy someone thought that game with ingame purchases dont need to be b2p in terms of profits, im happy that more people could try and stay in game.

  16. if ya ask me the whole epic thing was just gasoline on an already slowly building fire. it's just something that happens to online games. seen it happen to tf2 friday the 13th evil dead hell seen shitters hack among us of all games. pretty much cheaters gunna cheat and it's only going to get worse the longer a pvp game exists in the public sphere as hackers find more and more ways to break the game and give them an advantage over other players and circumvent whatever anti cheat is put in place and selling those cheats to others in an endless cycle that brings death to every pvp game. it's just kinda that dark part of humanity. some people like to win at any cost so they use steroids and other performance enhancing drugs or in the case of games cheating to get an advantage. whether that be the old ace up the sleeve counting cards and other things that get you kicked out of a casino or moving a piece to a better spot in a board game some people are just shitters and cheat without a care in the world. like it's at least semi understandable if there's money on the line. but when it comes to videogames it's a strange case as there's nothing on the line no prize to be won other than "I won at the videogame" then again some peoples lives revolve around that. one round of pretty much any moba with my buddy made that rather loud and clear mobas are an absolute salt mine. recently had someone go on a tirade about how much they hated their kids and wife and now me cause I wasn't doing the meta dance of the meta gods and instead was grabbing things that fit my playstyle/helped in the situations I was experiencing that game.

  17. Ngl for some games it's ok to be free to play as long as they don't have any ways for cheats to happen but dbd is one of the games that should never be free NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER. Here I thought being a game designer would be fun but I've realize how much work it is to make a game and Ik it's not easy no one said anything is easy lol but yea anyways ugh I tell when cheaters came to dbd I was like so upset with how those who streams make dbd content have it where they have to make videos and show just how upsetting and frustrating it is to deal with them. Like no matter what people would just be like huh what the oh no no no no then they start holding u hostage and omg that's what made it even more worse however ever since then we all realize that we have all the time in the world and like if they stay with us and they don't have to be bothering other players hopefully and we just wait heck we could even just play dbd in our other things if we had it etc etc u know like boom 😂😂😂😂 but anyways I'm very glad the cheating stuff is getting taken care of it's beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
