Last week we had a Skill Based Match Making (SBMM) test for 48 hours. And earlier this week Dead By Daylight put up a blog post to explain how these tests have been going and their plans for the future of implementing SBMM and no longer matching players based upon ranks. Let’s read through the blog post together and discuss!

What was your experience with the SBMM test last week? What role were you playing? Did you like it? Did you hate it? How do you feel about this idea of rank reset putting everyone to rank 20 and you grinding for bloodpoint rewards each month? Let me know!

The matches those two days were the worst it has ever been sense beta..
For some reason I can’t login right now
Hey I just tried to hop on and play but I keep getting initialization errors. Anyone else having the same issue? I'm playing on ps5
When is this supposed to be permanent??
My ranks during the sbmm were a rainbow
Can I just say Paulie is smart ASF! // lovely vid mate <3
I honestly think the devs need to just do a full stop on this. They should put all of this into effort into bugfixes, perk balance, qol, performance, and other in game issues. You cannot balance a game's matchmaking if you cannot make the game completely full of bugs with 1-2 gamebreaking every patch. This game may look nicer but it is way more jankier than when I first played it and that will turn off many people. I do not care what color ranking I'm facing if pallets are glitching out, I'm getting hit inside a locker on the other end of a thrown pallet, if the darn tutorial is resetting all of my cosmetics, and if the game crashes mid match.
sadly what kills the game is entitled survivors like yourself who never play killer
Above all else, I agree with the "I'd rather be playing" mentality…
Lobby times are atrocious.
meh, we need a casual mode aswell, not tryna sweat my balls off against a spirit main every game just because im good
I really hope dead by daylight doesn’t make the same mistakes cod made where sbmm takes all the fun out of the game
Played both days and video documented it, first day was an absolute mess from the killer side. But Day two it seemed like it was on par with the way they intend for it to work. I still don't really understand how a game that doesn't have a true competitive mode needs a SBMM algorithm unless they plan on making two separate modes which doesn't sound like it?
The devs should do something about totems ,they are easy to find.well most of them.which is value lost quickly
In all my times playing during the MMR tests, I was having a HORRIBLE time. I sincerely hope they keep a queue for current matchmaking and make a new one for SBMM with rewards for playing it (comp essentially).
I hate sweating in this game, so MMR would likely kill it for me.
i don’t get why they want it so bad, most of my matches are alright for both surv and killer. i think having a range of skills to go against can be fun. most games that i play kind of get ruined when sbmm gets put in place
MMR will be the worst thing ever added to dbd. Good killers will need to swear every game and will verse extremely good survivors often and against them they can only win with nurse or spirit.
I feel like my survivor matches were much much easier, and my killer matches were much more difficult.
I don’t like this idea, I love dbd but this seems too tournament type ? it’s a fun game to play whenever you’re bored and now you’re basically gonna have to sweat all matches
Sbmm will kill dbd. Its to survivor sided for mmr
I probably won't play killer after sbmm based on the test. Watching all the gens get done in 4 or 5 minutes and being forced to slug/camp/tunnel to not lose isn't fun. I mean I also don't wanna go against spirit, nurse, Freddy and blight every game either, so maybe I just won't play dbd anymore
I like the idea of everyone getting out back to 20. Because all the toxic SWF players can't talk shit since they got put back to 20
Sounds cool. I would never have expected the killer part.
They need to broaden that timeline from 3 weeks to 3 months so it's not as easily abusable
I see we are headed towards dark times……
So, inquiry (and hopefully the devs would clarify in the future), say you make it to rank 1 before reset, but then you get a bunch of bad matches that push you back down to rank 3 or even let's say as far as rank 5, would you STILL get the bonus for at least achieving rank 1 or does it go based on the rank you get to when reset happens?
Also, I think that red ranks should offer some iridescent shards. Bloodpoints are nice, but you get more than enough by grinding up to rank 1 – we need more incentive, especially since optimization for the game has been coming SOON since 2019.
I don’t know why but I can’t seem to get the whole resident evil chapter in my platform shop because it’s not showing in my shop
1:10 "its entitled". Thought so
One good skill based factor they should look at this; when repairing a gen, does the survivor constantly look at their surrounding? How fast does the survivor get away while the heartbeat intensifies?
Other intuition based gameplay too. I feel devs can make the A.I.s do this for them and look for this instead of trying to monitor PTBs
