DOWSEY TTV STREAMER VS MANFACEJAY REVIEW | Dead by Daylight

Disclaimer: Dowsey is a decent player and this is in no means a right to attack or approach him, this is simply an example of how fast the game is now and some of the older thought process of the games no longer work.

Dowsey had a rough game here, against some arguably mediocre Survivor gameplay and I know for sure he used to be a fantastic Demogorgon player. But as we know, he has fallen a tiny bit, with VHS and the backlash from the memes and shitposting about the DBD Devs, I have other opinions on that but maybe another video. However, this is just to show case the performance ratio in the game these days and how some of the older killers, who used to run the dictatorship on how to play etc, guides and so on, are crumbling at its weight.

Every second in the game is important now, everything you do is timed, if you’re not chasing someone, you should be checking gens, the longer the chase is, the more likely you are to have to camp / tunnel them out, because of all the time spent in chase, so many variables that lead back to an aggresive end game and why specialising one killer is probably a better idea now, more than it ever was.

More about Dead By Daylight:

A group of up to four survivors must elude one killer. The survivors’ perspectives are third-person, while the killer’s perspective is first-person. The survivors cannot fight against the killer and can only survive by running away and evading them. They must use obstacles in the form of wooden pallets, windows, and items that they either find inside chests or bring before the match starts to run from the killer for as long as they can. In order to escape, survivors must repair 5 generators scattered across the entire map to power the exit gates, then they must open the exit gates and leave the area themselves or find a hatch to jump into.

  1. I honestly agree with Dowsey on his view of the game. I dont think he hates the game at all, but the way some devolpers responds to the playerbase is really condescending. There are some big problems in this game and the players also care about the game. Dowseys videos can be a bit over the top but he gets his point across and I do think that BHVR is being very petty. I love this game and I want it to succed for a very long time and critism really can be good feedback.

  2. Went to a Dowsey stream to see what he was about, and within the first couple minutes, he read someone's question then responded back in a condescending way. Just a rude af reply.
Closed his stream and that was that

  3. I don't think he has beef with the developers, but they have been extremely petty. He made a totally fair criticism about the fact that "if you don't escape it isn't skilled" even though you could have run the killer for 5 gens and then get hit by NOED.

They then found his account and removed the shirts rather than actually listening to the criticism. This is part of why I've stopped playing, because they would rather involve themselves in pettiness rather than actually improving/fixing their game

  4. I totally agree! When you play as the killer PLAY AS A KILLER WOULD! No rules for me. Do whatever I can to put the pressure on. I also don’t sweat it if I don’t win. I chalk it up to practice! I’m glad The Nurse is back!

  5. As an old generation killer myself I miss before mmr. I used to play as fair as possible and I would get 4ks basically every game. Now you have to play perfectly with the perfect build. And you have to tunnel and or camp if survivors know what to do. Best tip is don’t care about the rulebook and play however you can to win.

  6. Very good video Jay. when I play Demo I always use save the best for last. in my opinion is best perk even on Demo. fast hits is key for Demo. I know people going to say slow down perks is best but with what I just saw here it did not matter. also he did not try to get rid of that boon that you said. Also good point you said that older killer mains need to understand its not the same game no more and need to accept that. remember last week i ran a wraith for 5 gens and got tunneled as well died to NOED. wasn't even salty about it. the wraith chased the wrong person the whole time. I was solo as well. the other 3 survivors just did gens whole time and never was chase off. i made few mistakes in that game. I accepted it. Also if i play killer and make mistakes i try to record them and see what i did wrong to correct it.

  7. Why can't people just say someone is bad or a noob I mean I spend matches where killers simply cannot catch me do I call them "shit" no. Guess that's just killer vocabulary 🤷 I play both sides but survivor is my preference and I'm here to say it's not my job to make sure killers have fun I could care less about killers I'm not playing to make sure they have fun no matter what is written in the "Killers Rulebook for Survivors"🤷

  8. Love your vids man. Been watching pretty much all of them since that ayrun topic. As i said before if i weren't scared of hackers and such on pc, i think itd be pretty fun to run into you and see if i get stomped(most likely the outcome) or if maybe i can last more than 5 seconds in a chase 😂

  9. Dowsey was running Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance + Dead Man's Switch. Used to run this on Doctor. At the time of his first hook, 2 gens had popped and nothing else had been worked on – so no regression or gen block (even if he had walked all the way to the scourge hook). At the time of his second hook, 1 gen had just popped and all other survivors were accounted for – meaning even though he took the jane to the scourge hook, it provided him no value at all. No block, no regression.

He then goes after the Jane again, but on her second hook he is in range of a scourge hook, but doesn't take it – instead tossing her on the hook in front of him (because he's frustrated, he knows this match has gone south). The first bit of regression he gets is the final hook on the Jane, and the other gen popping immediately after should tell him that blocked gen is nearly complete, even with the PR damage. Even if he had found a scourge hook for the Felix, he'd have to wait to hook him until the blocked gen became unblocked to get any value out of it. Which he opts not to do.

Honestly? I think getting 6 hooks while running 2 perks that gave him little to no value (and a 3rd – NWO, which gave him very little value) – Isn't that bad. This map and scourge hooks are notoriously bad. With this loadout, you are extremely hamstrung if you can't get scourge hooks. And in a timely fashion. This is what contributed more to the escapes than any specific mistake he made, I think.

  10. ManFaceJay. Your opinion on VHS is exactly the same as mine. As well as your thoughts on Dowsey. I've been a bit put off by him with his attacks on dbd. Not his recent KILLS=SKILLS video as that is hilarious. Honestly I might have done the same if I were the devs as far as his tshirt goes, he had only been making negative videos on dbd and making lots pushing VHS which is by far a subpar game and it isn;t making sense to me that he's pushing it. As you mentioned, killer is god awful to play. You are the one scared of the survivors. You see them, you're dead. I think at high level you can destroy them but getting there seems torture and even the high level players I see cowering from the survivors. In a 4 v 1 it's never going to take off if you make the 1 weaker than the 4 individually. If all 4 were needed to take down the killer it would be something but just 1 survivor can kill the monster by themselves with ease. I think they'll need to address that for it to take off but even then don't see much from it as it plays poorly.

  11. I had to pause at the start of the video because you said he was posting aggressive content towards the developers, which I strongly disagree with. Patrick said something incredibly stupid and a lot of people have memed and joked about it. Dowsey posted a video and didn't say anything different than what everybody else is saying and then he's blatantly punished for it by BHVR. Lets not act like BHVR is completely innocent. Otherwise, I enjoy your content. Just don't play shit down like that.

  12. You’d be surprised how paranoid a lot of streamers are. And I wonder whether it’s because a few people from their chat watch the same streamers and one has been so paranoid that it’s filtering through and making other streamers paranoid about subtle hackers/cheaters, or whether they’re just going with “this person looks suss” to make themselves feel better. At the end of the day – you can’t always get a 4k, sometimes survivors will outplay you, but when they do, it doesn’t automatically mean they’re cheating.

And don’t get me wrong – I get paranoia to an extent – but it’s a little draining when 9/10 games – that’s what you hear… Then they watch the vod back and see that person actually didn’t do anything wrong 🙄

  13. He says VHS is not a competitor to dbd, he has said many times they are not the same type of game and their games demographic and players will not be the player base that enjoys games like DBD. Its like saying call of duty will be a competitor to DBD, but… its not.

VHS appeals more to your average co op team games than DBD does. It is a more casual game, easier to understand and much lower skill ceiling. It is not going to compete with dbd for players except for maybe the first couple of weeks post launch.

  14. Side comment – You say you aren't completely up to date with the "drama" of him and his shirt. It's simple.

He made a joke about the devs saying that Kills = Skill, and talking about how if you get 2 hooks each survivor and only 1 kill, you won't gain MMR because you didn't do anything skillful. And that if you run the killer for 8 mins while the rest of the team does gens, and you go down and get face camped/left by your team and you die, you lose MMR because "You didn't escape, so you didn't do anything skillful". He made a joke about it, because the statement that you ran the killer for 5 gens and get face camped means you don't have skill… That was it. It was a 1 sentence meme reposted from reddit, that the entire community was making fun of. The Devs didn't like it and took his shit..

  15. I think what make's Dowsey's take and insults thrown so casually at the DBD devs is the fact that they don't really understand their own game. That much is clear by how bad some takes were on their end. Should he eventually stop beating the dead horse? Of course, but his comment made wasn't even truly aggressive. It was an honest opinion from someone who has played their game enough and because of that his earned cosmetics were taken.

If a Dev team can't take open criticism then they shouldn't be making games. Regardless of how Dowsey's attitude is towards them now, they were quite petty in their retort to criticism not mocking or maiming them, simple feedback, simple fix but nope, they took away his stuff.

But that's my personal take on it and his mood towards the game.
I think hes just in what he says and does unless he takes it out on other players in the process in a toxic manner.

  16. Just like to point out Dowsey has never had any problem with Camping/Tunneling or Slugging, he's always played this way so don't let the nice guy persona fool you, if you've followed him for any amount of time this is his playstyle not unlike your own, difference being he is very good with macro and micro game usually.

  17. I wouldn't say he's been 'attacking' the devs. He made a meme about one of them along with a couple lighthearted videos poking fun at the kills=skill debate. He actually had a lot of positive things to say about this new chapter. Hell he's one of the few people saying Onryo is an A-Tier killer. Very strange that the man gets pidgeon holed as one of those 'anti bhvr' DBD creators when he frequently has both positive and negative things to say about the devs and the game itself. Not trying to white knight for the guy as I generally don't watch that much of his content but, I felt like I had to stand up for him a bit.

  18. i dont know how u can watch this gameplay, see rounded loops, say he just needs to wait 15 seconds for bloodlust for a chance to hit a lunge that could miss because of the dog shit hit boxes around rounded loops, and then say that dowsey is panicking whilst hes speaking extremely calmly about what every survivor is doing at every point.

  19. But how does someone with almost 25 devotions get paired up with noobs. Not sure how much time your wife has in the game or what that Jane that got tunneled has but it seems unfair. Is he just actively tanking matches to create content against inexperienced survivors or was the queue just dry and it matched all skills into a match?

  20. Hello bro, not to disrespect you or say ur opinion on "These older generation killers, they're the ones that complain about the boon totems" (9:33) are absolutely wrong, but I just wanted to say from my experience too as a new killer that had a match where all survivors had 4 healing boons and everytime I snuffed a boon they mad e another one either on the top floor of the main building or on the corner of the map and I was not playing plague either and was a doctor at the time. Nothing against those people but I think even for new killers like myself dealing with 4 boons in a match is a bit too broken. Just my opinion tho 🙂

  21. My dude just gonna say that you take this game way too seriously.
Calling people out over silly reasons and make them look bad,get a grip, you dont have to sweat every game.
Your thumbnails are clickbait and come out as very condescending and reek of elitism,I cant take you seriously and I wont bother with any of your vids anymore.

  22. ah yes the old "lets take someone else's gameplay and micromanage it for views"!!! not every killer wants to sweat their ass off and we all sure as hell have bad games, you even said it yourself. so truthfully whats the point of this video other than to gain some relevancy by using a big streamers name? you talk about "old players" and "old thought processes" but its a game so who cares?? why cant people play how they want? i thought you were an advocate for playing however you want, but here you're unecessarily voicing your game opinions and suggestions onto someone else for nothing but youtube views.

  23. As someone who enjoys watching killer gameplay I’ve been a dowsey viewer for much longer than jay’s. While I don’t agree with everything jay says (or dowsey for that matter) I enjoy his take as it’s usually one I’d not have thought of myself and delivered in his frank manner that I find refreshing.
