Every Licensed Survivor Adaptation Ranked Worst to Best (Dead by Daylight Tier List)

Hey everyone, today we’re ranking all of the licensed survivor adaptations from worst to best. We’re gonna do this based off of how faithful their visual adaptation was, how fitting their perks are, and also the lore they received to accompany them. These are a lot harder to rank than the licensed killers and are definitely closer in terms of quality, but we’re gonna try anyway.

Chapter XXI is a Hellraiser one! The PTB has been released and featured the new killer, The Cenobite, or Pinhead. This is, however, the only content that seems to be releasing with the chapter.

  1. As a Bill main and having played both L4D and L4D2, seeing how faithfully BHVR adapted Bill into DBD puts a big ol' smile on my face. Grandpa Bill deserves it.

  2. I never got why Nancy got Better Together, I feel like Steve should’ve gotten it as he more often than not works with other people, whereas Nancy might go off on her own and do something.

I feel like they could’ve given Nancy a slight variation of Camaraderie where instead of a Survivor being near it would be the killer.

Side note: Steve’s voice isn’t THAT bad.

  3. I disagree with the resemblance argument for the RE characters. Leon is way more accurate in the face than jill. Jill to me in dbd looks a little like an offbrand take on the original face actor/model for the re3 remake. Especially when you take a look at her character face model in the official chapter trailer. Wheras leons face to me in dbd matches up with the face actor/model they used for re2 a lot more. I do agree howver on the perks except for flashbang, as a player of re2 remake I would know you use flashbangs quite alot as leon against the sewer creatures or the crawlers when your outta ammo or when they grab a hold of you, so those are the points i disagree on. Leon shoulda been higher. Though not the best adaptation (notably with the absence of all the herbs including the green one) I think its better than jill.

  4. I like that you took perks into account. My sister started stranger things and started telling me about Steve and I really started to appreciate BHVR's approach to what his perks are, especially babysitter.

  5. This felt like the perfect topic of discussion to mention this here, but I'm not really a fan of "people at the office" doing the voice overs. For the original characters within the realm, sure. Though in example, there are times where Chris would sounds as you'd think he would. Then other times he sounds like Leon. Another example, Cheryl sometimes sounds like Jill. I understand it costs money to gave people work, other restraints, and ect but staying within your own bubble has them overlapping in places. Idk, thanks for listening. Looking forward to your future stuff.

  6. Leon or Jill should have guns. I mean, maybe the guns only stun the enemy, after a few shots and only have like 4 bullets or something, but I think it would have been cool to introduce new means of stopping the killer.

Anyway, I understand in DBD you are supposed to be as defenseless as posible so im not mad about it, just thinking guns fit them a lot.

Tho the same could be argued about Ash, Bill, and even Heather.

  7. Bill and Ash are easily the best adapted, leagues above the others for different reasons.

Ash is the closest to his source material, being voiced by Bruce himself, and having unique qualities that make him stand out amongst the cast – as he should.

Bill is just awesome, and Left 4 Dead has been the most open license with DBD. Bill is the first licensed character to get a Tome, which is groundbreaking. The fact that this is a free license is insane, especially considering how good his perks are in-game.

  8. I would disagree with Jill/Leon's placements. I would just swap them since Jill has huge issues with her face when doing some actions, specifically her face when unlocking a gate under the effects of plague's vomit, and how minimal her prestige blood is for her pants (super specific but come on there's barely anything on those pants and if you want another specific reason her alternate costume isn't that different from her regular appearance, IMO). Also when the legendary characters (Cybil, Look-See, Chris, Lisa, Jonathon, etc.) get backgrounds, and new voices, you should re-do this list to include them as well; even if they are missing perks I think they count as another survivor since they are a completely new model/character. Valve being very cooperative/free with their IPs makes me wish we get a Half-Life or Portal chapter, or even just a Legendary skin for one of the survivors, because Gordon and Chell feel like they can fit very well into Dead by Daylight; heck a cosmetic set for Meg based off Scout or Medic for Dwight would be pretty funny.
