Flashlight Saves Are COMPLETELY BROKEN On This DBD Patch

In another episode of accidental greatness, Dead by Daylight’s Forged in the Fog PTB broke the timing on flashlight saves so that you’re guaranteed to save your teammate as long as you blind the killer during a pickup animation. This included flashbangs, with it even being possible to save yourself from a locker by blinding a killer with the flash at the same time they retrieve you from the locker.

The chaos of this accidental change made for some hilarious moments, but ultimately it’s just a bug. It’s just nice enjoying the one patch where your timing doesn’t matter and brain lag is less of a factor when you’re trying to save your team.

  1. It's not "broken" broken though. Being too early in the flashlight save is so hard if the killer is being cautious – if the grace period was about lengthening the time window and it was this lenient, then it could be a problem.
Flashlights are still worse than medkits and toolboxes. It would be nice if they had additional utility, the value of you having a flashlight is just so inconsistent.

  2. It is meant to be like this… if the killer is blind during the grace period, the killer drops the survivor. They specifically said they did it to make flashlight saving easier for new players because they want everything to be all inclusive. I have to agree with it as with all the killer buffs recently there is something to reward risky plays. Its sad that it won't be as satisfying anymore to get a flashlight save as its practically guaranteed unless you're Hellen Keller, but hey ho.
