Have Survivors Learned to Play Against Onryo? | Dead by Daylight

Read more Dead by Daylight ➜ https://deadbydaylight.mgn.gg

Continuing the series with a video based on the new updated Onryo, with a build based around condemn. This is one of those playstyles that is very difficult to play against for newer players, and requires both knowledge of the killer style and also general looping skill.

  1. I lowkey main Onryo but most of times I play against her as survivor because it feels like my teammates just die too fast so I believe I would just do what ace did. like yeah he knows what he is doing but what is the point if his whole team is lost?

  2. For that first Mikaela to die on the second game, she wasn't putting away the tape after breaking it, she was actually grabbing another one since the first tape broke, the animations are just similar with the exception of the tape going in or out.

Her trying to "put the tape away" after being hit is something you'd do against old Sadako since hitting a survivor with a tape didn't destroy it and you'd thus still be able to insert a tape to get rid of stacks And honestly? That's all the proof you need that there's still survivors who don't know how to play against her condemn strats. That, or maybe she did know and was just like, what ever, lemme grab another tape anyhow.

Which is a fine move. Even if she's full condemn, taking a tape will turn the TV off and prevent you from teleporting it for a bit longer.

  3. One detail I noticed is Tofu seemed like he was expecting Feng Min to scream from Face the Darkness during the first game. The thing is that Face the Darkness forces every OTHER Survivor to scream, but the one whose injury lit the totem doesn't, so he was never going to hear Feng Min while FtD was up from her.

  4. Tofu, one cool thing you could do with these series is if you go against a when you play TTV, you could reach out to them after the match and offer them coaching and do a part two within this series of you teaching the best way to play against the killer?

  5. The thing is, you dont want to grab a tape because you cant use ur item that way.
Atm beamers are popular and after the healing nerf everybody brings a brown medkit at the very least.

Its not that they dont know any better, either way you lose.

I recommend not picking up a tape but when u reach 3 stacks then start taking care of it

  6. Tbh, as a Sadako main, iri tape makes getting condemn kills infinitely easier. The strat isn't braindead. It requires your close attention, but it still is an easy strat. Not the easiest, but easy. Now chase Sadako, 👀 that's a fun way to play her. Though, like all things, doing gens is a surefire way to counter it.

  7. Part of the problem is that with the killer teleporting constantly and all 4 survivors trying to grab tapes it quickly becomes difficult if not impossible to even find a tv you can take a tape from. It's a really unfair strategy because even if you're doing everything right you can still get screwed by it.

Hi, Tony Stark here, am i'm going to explain what happened
So basically, Mikaela was doing the "insert tape" animation, and when mr. Tofu hit her, it destroyed the tape
But since the TV was still on, the Mikaela then started doing the animation to take out a tape from the TV
Hope that explaination helped. Tony Stark out!

  9. I think really the only thing that needs to be changed for Onryo is her iri addon, it significantly makes things much harder for survivors and most of the times they end up dying due to it being very oppressive in time wasting or get hit. Would've been nice to see Tofu use other addons besides the iri cause I think that's whats pretty much carrying her to very strong OP levels.

  10. i went against an onryo with no perks or addons and she got 3 moris. no we have not learned 😂 and i think the buff to her was overkill. all u have to do is spam teleport

  11. hate this killer now. its kinda braindead how easy it is to get free mori kills for simply teleporting and the only way the survivors stop it is they individually have to be amazing at the game.

  12. I hate Onryo, not because of the killer but because of my teammates. It’s so frustrating watching my teammates not get a single tape all game and then getting moried at 4 gens. Its genuinely so frustrating how clueless some players are at this game. Sadako should be a C tier killer yet she’s out here pub stomping

  13. It's a good thing killers have different counterplay. They keep making killers whose counterplay is just looping or W keying. This is way more fun imo, if there are some different killers too. However for a casual player this may be just too much time spent on learning how to counter every single killer, so idk

  14. I think it's good for the health of the game for these sorts of videos to exist. You're not crapping on random strangers and insulting them; you're explaining what they are doing wrong to avoid losing the match. Someone else could easily make them badly, by just calling the survivors names and clowning on them, but that aint this.

  15. It would be nice to pair the videos in this series with a showcase of people playing against the killer that DO know what they’re doing. Maybe you could find a main for the killer and a competent survivor team and sort of explain the strategies of the survivors as a spectator.

  16. Why would new killers ever need to be added if they all did the same thing though?
Isnt that part of the fun… That each killer is unique and challenges you in a new way.

  17. I think this build should have a different name than condemn sadako. Like sure it's probably the proper name… but Sadako's Sad Slugs, Salty Slugs, or Sleepy Slugs could be a better fit. Every time I play the build the survivor reaction is always "ZzZzZzZz" or some form of upset insult directed at me.

Also I'd just like to say, new sadako is kind of hard to see with while she is dematerialized lmao.

  18. Sadako is in a very…interesting place. She's a pub-stomper, full stop, because her power will highlight to the killer exactly which survivor is the weak link in the team. Any one survivor that does not know the counterplay very well and doesn't loop very well will be caught by the power, and they will get condemned and killed very quickly. Younger survivors don't realize that every time Sadako teleports, she is advancing her win condition more than getting hooks does. This may be why even players of higher skill dislike going against Sadako. She forces every member of the team to be competent, otherwise the entire team suffers. The team is only as strong as the weakest link.

Funnily enough, Tofu, I think that while the iri add-on is still extremely powerful, her best add-on is actually the Mother's Comb. It seriously takes all of the mental load off of Sadako, turning your TVs yellow when they're off and giving you a loud noise notification when a survivor turns off a TV so you know when and where survivors are exactly whenever they interact with your power. That is my must-run add-on, flexing around the 2nd slot as I please.

While I think full on slug is viable, I think hooking can accelerate the game and against smarter survivors will add more pressure than slugging does. If somebody else is nearby for me to continue a chase I will absolutely slug, but if nobody is around I will gladly hook a survivor asap and then get back on teleporting just to force a survivor to get off a gen and deal with the hooked survivor.

Correct counterplay: Pick up tape as soon as tv turns on. Hold tape forever. When hit, Sadako will eventually peel off–go get another tape. Try to heal up if possible, but regardless just hold onto the tape. If you are healthy, take the hit again and when she peels off, go get a tape and now turn it in. If injured, hop in a locker and force her to grab you out of the locker. You'll get downed, but deny the extra stacks. Always bring down your condemned whenever you hit 4+ stacks.

  19. I really like that builds like this exist, and having to collect a variety of knowledge to survive a killers hunt because you never expect to be hunted or what by, feels very lore accurate

  20. In my opinion ohtofu, you should do what you are doing at this point. Also give the counter play against the killer so the “survivor mains” also get to learn how to play against the killers. Nice video.🙌🏼

  21. When I play Sadako I notice survivors just ignore the condemned enough to where I get at least one kill per game. Regardless of perks or add-ons. So without watching this video I'd say no, they haven't learned
