How To Counter Blight – Dead by Daylight Survivor Guide

I hope you learn something from this! Blight is not that easy to counter, I cut a lot of stuff from this that I thought wouldn’t have value for players from every skill level. I hope you enjoy the video in it’s final form tho.
Huge thanks to @Ev3ntic for making the Render for the Thumbnail!

  1. Another tip:

If a blight has alch ring or iri tag. He only gets those benefits on rush hits. If you think you are going to be hit regardless of what you do when the blight has these addons, it is better to jump in a locker and make him fatigue. He will get an m1 after you jump out of the locker 99% of hte time, but he wont insta down you with iri tag or get his charges back on alch ring and wont be able to rush again instantly.

When he doesn't have these addons you gift him a slightly faster recharge though so if he doesn't have the addons, only do it to waste a few seconds of his time before you go down, don't do it while you are healthy because his recharge will be faster since he will be recharging during his hit CD.

Obviously doesn't work if he has iron maiden.

  2. I was gonna make a video like this bc I was getting tired of people saying blight has no counter play but you did it better than I would have been able to. Very good vid though

  3. I feel like this video is deceptively titled … You don't counter blight in any meaningful way. The best you can do is buy a few extra seconds each chase, provided the blight is decent. The best actual counter to blight is doing the gens in 3 minutes and getting a 3 man out leaving one to die on hook.

There is no "counter" to him, because of all the ""techs"", as they call them, personally I'd call it what it is, abusing unintended game mechanics, combined with ridiculously low fatigue and recharge (2 sec lmao, cries in billy, legion), and the fact that you never gain distance on him, ever.

The real counter: Rush gens, drop all the pallets on him, and leave the game asap. Boring, uninspired killer to play against. People like to say "blight is so fun to go against". I agree, as long as you go against a blight who doesnt know how to use the power, is just learning or barely plays him. Doesnt know the techs and just plays the power as intended. Its quite fun and interactive that way.
See how you enjoy going against an actual decent blight. Same story as nurse really. Fun until they know how broken the power can be, and then you are left with literally no counterplay.

  4. Also, don't forget that Blight can do some crazy flicks around the corners to get you if he is good at doing it so. Its not easy to learn it, so don't expect much Blights doing it.

  5. and also something to keep in mind, always try to make your direction changes as unpredictable as possible as a Good or decent Blight will try to predict your next moves (With much more reason if you have already done a lot of 90° turns)

On maps like Thompson's House or Rotten Fields you can take advantage of poor vision and feint with a double change of direction. It is quite useful since people who play Blight know that missing a hit on a map with no structures hurts a lot. (They will try to play as safe as possible)

They will also try to wait for you to use your DH before making a hit, so it's always good to keep in mind how many tokens the Blight has. (If you see that the Blight has 4 tokens, it is likely that they will try to spend one more for you to use your dead hard)

  6. This was actually super informative. Knowing the time to recharge his rushes could actually be really helpful. I was wondering if there was any special counterplay you knew of for playing around a blight with the iri addon that hinders you. I find that addon super annoying with the slowdown and trying to do normal blight counterplay

  7. goddamn this was really educational, the topdown view on the loops really helped with understanding the pathing the killer would take… really cool stuff hens :3

  8. I don't see much DBD content like this on youtube (or I think elsewhere). Not sure why it hasn't been done but I'd definitely hop on it for the rest of the killers if I was you.
