  1. I don't care about if something is datamined or leaked, personally. What I don't like is uncensored spoiling. I swear, every fucking kirby game's endboss has been spoiled for me since Return to Dreamland on wii and I hate it.

  2. Yeah leaks for content is not cool but I do like it for cosmetics it helps to get over the first excitement rush and actually think if you really wanna buy it when it releases and not just think it's cool but never use it

  3. i always feel so bad for all the hard work that went into everything just for it to be leaked.. i remember hearing everything from dredge to knight got leaked basically all at once. and then skull merchant leaked. then singularity leaked. then nic leaked.
it’s sad and frustrating that the devs do so much for us and yet never get to be the first ones to tell us what they did. i’m at least glad that chucky wasn’t leaked and no one even saw it coming till the teaser yesterday (at least from what i saw… not sure if it was leaked earlier)

  4. My problems arent the leakers/dataminers. Its the people that press that info into everyones face.

I feel like its fine for that community to exist since from time to time i do like to know about the newest unreleased stuff, the theorycrafting behind some of them etc. However i feel like the moment those infos reach you without you actively searching for the tweet or whatever, thats the moment where its a problem. If you wanna spoil yourself sure. If you have a community for it yes, thats cool. But just keep your mouth shut since not everybody wants to know.

Dvveet as a well known example never tags someone to only spoil people that wanna know. ive seen different people in other communities that actively tag big streamers or whatever so that they might be spoiled.

Tl;Dr: Leakers/Dataminers arent necessarily the problem. Assholes are.

  5. Spoilers will always and forever be unforgivable for movies I agree. However when it comes to video games I'm personally a little 'meh' on it. Would be nice to be excited and surprised about new content for games but over the years of getting hyped just to be disappointed really leaves a sour taste. Like when Cyberpunk came out, the hype for that game was astronomical just to get shat on and laughed at upon release. At least with leaks I can get my disappointment and shattered expectations over with instead of being pissed off on launch day.

  6. I personally am both for and against leaks, the leaks I do like are subtle ones that gives us some ideas if what to expect without just coming out with every little detail. One example of this is when the artists map was leaked, it was only a tiny little bit of the map in its early stages but it brought about discussions and theories creating hype. However the only reason why those work for me is because it fills that hole that dbd's marketing is missing. I do agree though leaks that just drop most of the details suck so much as any interest is gone, even worse it must suck for the devs as they miss out on seeing the reaction to everything on their terms with proper marketing to try manage expectations better.

  7. The act of posting it publicly will always be selfish & to cause harm, no matter what data miners/leakers claim. The act of doing so is to strip a community of that first time reaction, that rush of excitement & big emotions. &, even worse, to make hard working devs feel like crap. As an artist, part of my joy in creating comes from getting to show others what I made. It's a personal thing, it's a wonderfully exciting moment. & to strip the devs of that moment, of the genuine reactions….it's so hard to watch because I can imagine how deflated & hurt they must feel.

I hope one day this trend of needing to know early dies off, & we can go back to suspense & fun.

  8. You can really tell how much bhvr was burned by the slew of leaks in 2021/2022. They had so many great hype promos and teasers, ARG easter hunts and stuff but it got wasted by leakers.

I don't hate dataminers and leakers, But dbd leakers and news channels are on cracked because unlike other games, the dbd leaks are inescapable if you're not into them and infect every corner of the community. in other games a player needs to go out of their way to look it up if they wanna know about leaks.

luckily bhvr made the fog whisperer not spoil it for people and the forums . as well as having community reddit not to openly discuss it on.

  9. I like the datamining that gives so little crumbs of info that we are left speculating. I do not like getting the answer given to me. It is just how I like it because I am not patient at all yet when you give me crumbs my mind can go all over the place about until the release then it is awsome. However giving me the answer right away just breaks the fun because now I got no guessing game and no killer to play either.. I want to go back to the time we were thinking so and so was coming because we saw the power's name and we were like "Omg it may be Pinhead because the ability is shred and that has to do with hurting" (bad exemple I know but I hope it gets the point accross)

  10. I hate them so much, last year (or the year before) was DbD at the worst, where the next 2-3 Chapters got leaked with Killer Model etc., it really killed the hype for Sadako back then (sure she was underwhelming but we know half a year before release that she is coming)

what I don't mind are "soft leaks" like "oh the new Killer Power has something to do with Lockers" or vague comments like that

The Chucky Chapter release was the best example for how good it is that we don't know shit, it's so funny with his voice lines and power and I'm kinda happy that we are at a more healthy spot with that and not in this time where everything got leaked

  11. Depends on the company/game for me. If it's a company that you would think didn't even exist except for update days, IE no communication whatsoever, then yeah I'm gonna want a little leakage to know they're alive and the game isn't abandoned. Especially if it's something that only updates maybe once a year.
