I think Hope is overrated… | Dead by Daylight

Hope is a general perk that every survivor has unlocked by default. Given its strong effect, you’d think more people would run it! Are they missing out or is the perk just generally not worth it? In this video I give you my opinion on it.

  1. Personally I like taking hope with refined syrum and deadhard. At endgame I've never really been caught. That 7% messes up all killers, dodging things, making killers miss their swings like hag or nurse, and making the curve faster than the Billy/oni will.
The perk is bad enough to need a buff to like 3minutes but it's not as bad as like the new genorator one.

  2. I usually run Distortion, Calm Spirit, Borrowed Time and Inner Strenght.
Any advise what I should use instead of some perks.
P.S. thank you Otz for entertaining not only me but everyone else here and spreading happiness in this difficult times.
    You are awesome <3

  3. I definitely think it has potential, its the same gripe though as having adrenaline or any other perk with similar requirements obviously. In this case, it requires a pre-requisite for it to activate, in this case. The exit gates need to be powered to benefit form the perk and contributes nothing to the initial/mid way point of the game.

  4. Let's assume you are in an end-game situation while injured.

At base survivor speed (4 m/s), you would run a total of 28 meters in 7 seconds.

Adrenaline gives 150% speed for 5 seconds.
With Adrenaline, you will run a total of 30 meters after running for only 5 seconds. By including the heal Adrenaline gives you, and assuming you don't get one-hit, you get an extra 2 seconds of 150% speed after being hit, which means, in total, Adrenaline can provide you with an extra 14 meters of distance after running 28 meters during 7 seconds.

Meanwhile, hope gives you 107% speed.
With Hope you would have to run around 200 meters to get an extra 14 meters of distance, that is 50 seconds of running.

This means that even though Hope can potentially give you an extra 33,6 meters of distance (2.4x more distance than Adrenaline) during its 120 second duration, the value it provides is so slow that you can find many scenarios in which it is worse than Adrenaline.

Forgive me, I got a bit carried away.

  5. Thoughts if Hope gave like 15-20 seconds of the 7% Haste whenever a gen was completed? Plus maybe a good 60 seconds for the final gen? That way it could have use throughout the match and not be as overshadowed by Adrenaline.

  6. I think he meant to put “underrated”, since it’s a “hidden gem” and people overlook it easily. If it were overrated, then people would be using it commonly and it’s not as good as people make it out to be. :p
