Is new Sadako an S-tier Killer? (No, but…) | Dead by Daylight

This video showcases why the new Sadako rework makes her a very fearsome (an easy to play) monster. And also how coordinated Survivors can remove her pressure with one simple strategy. Overall, this version of Sadako swings extremely hard from too strong to too weak depending on how well Survivors can adapt.

  1. I’ve played against her in solo queue today and she is far from op. As long as you keep an eye on your condemned and keep on grabbing tapes she’s not very gamebreaking. The only thing she’s really strong at is punishing survivors for being careless.

  2. My humble ideas:
    – Mother's Comb addon is reworked in some way as it was too strong.
    – Teleport to TV cooldown raised from 45 s to 55 s.
    – Inserting a Tape removes 3.25 stacks.

    – TV turned off by Survivors cooldown lowered from 70 s to 65 s.
    – Lullaby range is reduced.
    – Manifesting-transition movement speed buffed slightly higher.
    – Teleport to TV within 16 m of Survivors adds 1 stack instead of 3/4 if map-wide.

  3. I played today my first game against new Sadako in Duo, my mate and I didnt had many problems because we have a lot of hours but our mates were kinda new i guess and forgot to search for tapes and were killed really fast.

Maybe set some numbers higher but more or less i find playing against her more fun now. But maybe thats just my hours… good luck to anyone ❤️

  4. Hard disagree, she's going to bottom out after people relearn her, it's like when a new killer is released and people don't know exactly how it works, and her kit now revolves around condemn even more but it's easier to counter and it's at the cost of her general mobility. You can already see people countering demanifest in this video by waiting to drop pallets until you're almost out of it.
She's going to have a brief visit to B tier and a trip back down to C tier.

  5. This rework wasn't really good, she's now stomping on new survivors but is worse against expirianced ones. She's going to get nerfed and just be even worse then she was originally because BHVR can't balance their game-

  6. I hate that the changes literally did the opposite of what they said and yet they are being heralded as amazing sure she's stronger but she is now more heavily dependant on her condemned. I ended up dropping after all the work I put in during the masquerade. they said they'd make her condemned more consistent but make it so shes not solely reliant on it we'll look at how that turned out. Ive lost 3 mains this year simply from behavior "reworking" them I'm getting extremely tired of these lazy attempts at balancing good or bad they need to freaking deliver what they promise not do half asks.

  7. I really hope she gets a fair balance change, she's weak against tape holders, but ultra kills people who don't interact with her power. It should be less deadly for people who don't interact and there should be some counter play to tape holders.

So basically if you don't hold tapes she can be a more deadly Michael Myers with 3 tombstone pieces, but if you hold tapes she kinda becomes a worse Freddy, at least you can teleport near gens unlike trapper.

  8. Sadako right now is just tombstone Myers on crack. Even to the point that she decimates public games unless they consist on top tier players. And if at least one person doesn't immedietly go for tape (which is and will be common on publics), it's game over. If 2 won't go that's just game snowballing into Sadako's favor where she doesn't need any addons or perks to do 3 kills – had a game like that where 2 survs played like against old Sadako, despite that I picked a tape immediatly, once those 2 realized what's happening there was just so much traffic on those 7 tvs that it was basically impossible to get new tape with 5 people constantly turning off tvs (survs to get rid of high condemned and Sadako to inflict it and she had it better since she knew where TV is and could go to it from anywhere). Not to mention that tapes block you from using items, which is such a feature that definietly was needed and shouldn't just be a quirk of Singularity.

I don't know what devs are thinking, but 5 recent killers (since Knight up to Sadako rework, including Executioner pro tunneling rework that thankfully didn't pass beta, but I worry it will return now if they consider cage camping fixed) are just extremely miserable to play against due to how they are designed (and at that point I want to believe they will make fun killers to play against, but it's hard).

  9. Remember when Sadako came out? People used to take out tapes too much, but learned they shouldn't. It's this, but in reverse now. Survivors trained to not deal with tapes will struggle for a while, but they will adapt and the meta will make it so Sadako will be similar to Pig. Her power won't kill reliably, but will apply some slowdown. I think this will be true for more casual levels as well.

  10. I don’t really understand the point of this build. It’s fun and all but you’ll get little bps even if you mori everyone and your rank’ll probably not get higher, so what’s the point?

  11. Tier lists arent made my devs. Let me know whe there is one because I dont care at all about any youtuber or streamers tier lists. Its 100% personal opinion of a gamer, not a developer. Onryo is awesome and always has been 🤘🏻😉

  12. I have to say it but Willie isn’t that good of a player. He crutches on using the easiest ways to win possible (old Condemned Sadako, Skull Merchant, MDR Spirit) and pub stomps casual players. I’m not a fan of the comp scene but seeing him get put in his place was hilarious. He got absolutely dumpstered on, and it was deserved. Hopefully he’ll try playing Killers that take actual skill some day 🙂

  13. You guys all continually demonize killers who have to camp and tunnel. But for some reason the devs have designed Skull Merchant and now Sadako who can deal with teams and can actually pressure players instead of just have to commit to one target. And still you say they are "too strong". I get it, survivors provide bags of money to you content creators, but when do we draw the line and say, "You know what survivor mains? the devs finallly did something right, lets give em a compliment, thanks for making a killer that doesn't try to give an illusion of skill to the survivors, thanks for making me be able to have to actually learn how to play the game and practice good teamwork." But nope…. too strong NERF KILLA, make em weak but camping tunneling BAD.

  14. I personally don’t mind playing against condemn sadako. It’s really difficult in pub lobbies, although a bit simplified with the new TV’s. I think people’s main complaint is that it encourages slugging but honestly what’s the difference of being slugged on the ground as opposed to hanging on a hook? Both don’t let you play the game until a teammate helps you

  15. Bit worried shes just gonna end up in the same situation, run the iri addon or don't bother, once people learn to play against it.

I'd like to see them do something more with demanifest not stunning, like giving it the same mind game Wraith has and let her destroy pallets quicker whilst demanifested, its a fun mind game on both sides and I don't see why it has to be for Wraith only

  16. It's a bit sad that suvivors that know her kit can counter her really easily because I think she'll get nerfed anyway cuz she destroys people that don't bother to play around her tapes. She will be straight up unplayable against people that actively counter her post nerfs I think

  17. Just another killer that's gonna make soloq more unbearable. I've yet to encounter a single surv other than myself in soloq that was holding tapes, and the 9 or so sadakos I've faced all got a 3k or a 4k, we never got past 4 gens done.

They need to make the counter to killers something casual people can reasonably figure out themselves, or else they'll never get it. Legion, cenobite chainhunt, plague, all have this problem .

  18. the biggest fault with how she is now is that it's not engaging for survivors. You don't get to be in chase and you can't mindgame teleport spam. She needed a boost for sure but this isn't fun to go against.

  19. I think a good change would be to either just reveal the auras of tvs to survivors as long as they any condemned progress simple change and makes countering her easy to do. If you compare her to another killer who can "mori" survivors at 0 hooks (technically) like pig, the moment a survivor get a rbt on their head, they can see the auras of all the boxes so that they can take it off, obviously pig has the addon that removes that ability until the trap is actually active but regardless it gives survivors a fair chance to not die to the rbt. Since condemned Israel's basically a rbt you can't take off and that gains progress based on the killers actions, it makes sense that if you have any amount of condemned that you should be able to cleanse it. They could even reduce the amount gained by survivors to .5 stacks with each tp and basically get rid of teleporting spam as a viable strategy. Great video otz!

  20. i think making survivors on the ground begin to gradually lose condemned stacks after a few seconds might be a good way to balance out her new strength. let the strat remain strong while punishing the most toxic method of performing it

  21. We needed this video. Hope that Sadako dont get omeganerf because low mmr solo Q. Survs seeing tvs or a minor nerf could be acceptable just really hope they dont send Sadako to F tier again 🙁

  22. Please don't nerf her PLEASE I've been playing her since her release please let the survivors just learn the match up and not just tell the Devs "she is a bit too strong" they are gonna nerf her to the ground

  23. Personally sadako is B tier. If the survivors knows what they're doing they can easily counter condemn e.g taking a tape out of a TV when you have 4 stacks of condemn. However, the iri video tape add on and the green tape that spreads condemn through heals should both get reworked whilst they're broken

  24. Mfs saying "once we figure out the counterplay" are dumb asf. It's literally the same, only force locker pickups over getting hit w tape (if healthy, take a hit first) 💀💀. Like bro she's still A- even w counterplay (Sadako main btw)

  25. i think is too powerful for the average soloq team, which is the real place people should think about balance, i dont get what do we gain by seeing that a pro swf that knows they are playing against onryo from the start happen to be good at countering it. the thing is, can 4 randoms without comns counter her? and the answer i think is no. the real game was the first one, were a one handed otz basically obliterated a team, that lets be clear, was probably a swf partially and had actually good items. the average soloq team sometimes doesnt even have items.

all in all i have played against her these days, and she seems quite powerful, to the point that i have seen something that i didnt see in a while, which is a survivor dc-ing before the game starts so that the game is cancelled, survivors see the killer making an offering to the game or lerys or… and they dc before the game even starts. one of those games was not even against an onryo, a pyramidhead put the offering.

another thing i think is bad is that she requires a lot of knowledge of how her power works from the survivors to avoid a very big punishment. usually survivors dont have to know much about how the killer works, but here they do, is like:

-when onryo teleports to a tv i get 3/4 of condemn
-i can avoid that condemn by taking tapes for tvs
-but i dont see the tvs
-also the tvs have to be on
-when i have a tv if she hits me i get 2 condemn and i lose the tape
-i can lose 3 condem if i put the tape on another tv
-she can appear from any tv
-maybe (with some addons) she can even know when i take a tape
-and can calculate where i have to place it
-also she also demanifest and i cant see her when she does that

see the problem?, with huntress is "huntress throws hatches". with blight is "he is fast and bounces around"… of course there is more to them, but survivors dont have to learn a new game just for one killer, but they do need to learn onryo better than onryo herself, onryo only needs to teleport around like an insane person and chase people, and suddenly one of them maybe starts to glow red, she doesnt need to think, and i think that is bad design

  26. I think she's a lot more fun to VS now in general, but it can be quite annoying actually finding a TV you can put a tape into, if the aura reveal range for nearby TVs was extended a bit I don't think she'd be quite as much of a pub stomper.
