Dead by Daylight videos are starting to become age-restricted at an alarming rate. YouTube has also recently updated their policies and it looks like DBD may now be too violent for monetization on the platform. This could legitimately be the beginning of the end for all horror game based content.

  1. Interestingly, my last few videos have been fine for the first 24 hours or so, then suddenly restricted. Really sucks, especially when you see a high-effort video's views literally drop to <10% of their trend in the exact hour the video is restricted. Sucks for those that do it for fun. Sucks for those that do it for a living.

  2. Okay, but I have a solution. Allow age restriction to happen, because, yes, while there is YouTube kids, there are still YOUNG teenagers on YT who won't want to be on a "kids" platform.

So, fine, age restrict the content, BUT then YT needs to create a second algorithm that's profile based. All it would take, is a toggle of, "Turn on or off age restricted content?" to throw the "restricted" content back into the mix.

It would also make it easier for advertisers to put adult content in front of adults who should ACTUALLY consume those ads, rather than say, when I go to play a Pinkfong video, and an ad for "Yellowstone" plays before it. Which I find wildly more distasteful as a consumer.

And, as much as I hate to say it, you could always put all of mature content behind a paywall, to some extent, ensure that those who were watching were old enough. But you're never going to have a perfect system. I also want to know which advertisement gods are supposedly hellbent on determining what medias are and are not elevated

  3. How is this "the beginning of the end" tho? This shit has been happening for years now little by little the only difference is that now the change is slightly bigger and the effect of it is slightly more noticeable.
I do agree tho this is another step forward to the end of actual good content on YT, look i'm a 24yo guy i don't wanna watch Fortnite garbage content i don't wanna watch Minecraft garbage content like many other ppl with a job there's like 2-3 hours a day i get to relax and watch the shit i like and now those 2-3 hours will soon forcefully turn into 2-3 hours of watching garbage kids content or looking at my walls and i'd rather look at my walls than watch anything "suited for kids" so to speak, i want those couple of hours of relaxation to be filled with videos about games i love like DBD, Payday 2, GTA so on and so forth, violent games maybe but are they rlly violent? and the real question is are we rlly not mature enough to realize what can or can't be done in real life and in video games?
Aren't those age verification procedures in there for a reason? that way YT Kids is for kids and YT is for grown up ppl? AND if kids manage to use YT as a platform because the parents are a couple of braindead morons and let their kids use YT using their account how is that YT's fault? Seriously having those age confirmations when making an account should be enough to clear YT of any fault for kids watching violent-ish content on YT that shouldn't mean the total anihilation of violent-ish videogame content on YT.
But hey YT is stupid and has been for many years now so what was to be expected realistically?

  4. YouTube staff, they need to grow up and stop Bible thumping and not doing the correct job they ate hired for, I've said this numerous times, if you don't want to do the job your hired for, then they should just quit!! Content creator's need to take this issue to the better business bearu and or take if to the federal gaming commission!! Start taking YouTube to court and filing reports against them…

  6. It's sad though because of the thought of a YouTube competitor is great, but YouTube competitors have never succeed in the past because of the fact that you can't take YouTubes already massive video log onto that new platform.

  8. This makes me wonder why YouTubeKids exist. Why do we, adults, have to put our entertainment away for the purpose to make it friendly for children? There's a reason we flag content as "not made for children". That's just ridiculous at this point.

  9. Great video Choy. This really sucks because I was contemplating starting a DBD channel just for fun and if it grew to something more then awesome. But now I feel like there’s no point if it’s just going to get age restricted with no potential for growth.

  10. damn, even rtg is going… that's insane, I'd imagine youtube's ideal vision would be a rainbow flag in the background, all videos are the hivemind goodwill topics, unfortunate this is something that they see has to go

  12. complaining about youtube age restricting content about a game who's esrb RATING is MATURE 17+ hmmmmm i wonder why they would age restrict any videos related to said game?

yes, parents can give their children the game or their card info to buy said game, but that is their individual choice as a parent (right or wrong), youtube has to abide by the esrb rating, am i wrong?
