really? i loved using the prestige hammer and outfit with the claudette face. never once in my entirety of playing this game have i seen it used for racist reasons. good god these devs cave in to way too much to twitter users

Why can't people just accept that the Claudette mask was a problem?
It's not about stopping Bubba's toxic playstyle (camping and tunnelling). People wear the Claud mask and make racist remarks in end game chat or in people's message boxes.
I literally have faced a Bubba wearing the mask whose name (in Chinese, as I'm in Asia) was 'Little Blacks die' and he only went after the Claudette and Adam on the team. Me and another Meg could do gens right infront of him and he didn't touch us at all. He was in 'character', a racist, and the mask only helped that.

I think its stupid to delete these masks just because a portion of people are using a particular one to be toxic and not banning these people. That's like if all headwear was banned just because white nationalists wore durags to make fun of black people and not send white nationalists to prison.
still seems nice! also i often run boil over bc i like to have one meme perk amongst my build so i like the change. ofc it seems weird tho.
I feel like they could have just switched Claudette's mask for a Nea or Feng Min mask, but we all get almost enough shards for a free character! So awesome!

I run distortion.. I use it to kno what perk the killer is using im all ears/ BBQ/ nurses. Then I can let the people im playing with also kno what to watch for. I get quite a bit of use out of it honestly.
As a person who uses Boil Over all the time, the buff makes me happy haha.
So their reasoning of removing the masks was so people would stop getting targeted and bullied right? That’s what they said. So what are they gonna do about the pride charm? There’s way more targeting and harassment cases from people wearing the pride charm then there are with the smartface mask. So why only remove one thing that causes targeting and harassment but not the other? What’re they gonna do when they add the first gay survivor? The amount of targeting and harassment is going to be even higher. Removing the masks is just taking away content from the game. It wouldn’t be a problem if they only let’s say adjusted the smartface mask in particular. As a bubba main, it was always fun to put on one of the masks when you saw a dwight Meg Claudette or Jake in the lobby. But now this will be taken away from us. And since there are still cosmetics in the game that encourage toxic behavior such as harassment, the removal of the masks are quite hypocritical and removed in vain.
I get the removal of Claudettes face cosmetic, but removing ALL of the others doesn't make sense to me
The bubba thing is a realy weird decision. Its not ignorent to say « this won’t change anything » bcs its true. The claudette mask is not related to black face, its related to the center of the lore of leatherface. At this point u can also say that we should remove inspector Tap bcs we are killing a black guy, it just does not make sens to me.
So many people in the comments are really THAT upset over a couple of masks getting removed? At the base line horrible people are using this cosmetic to target and abuse people of colour (And yes it does happen even if you haven't seen it). No of course this won't end racism, but surely it's a sacrifice that's pretty easy to make to make sure POC aren't attacked as easily simply by using this cosmetic? It literally changes nothing about bubba gameplay wise or lore wise. So from what I've seen some of you really need to grow up and think about the bigger picture. Bye masks ✋
Here I am, an ex-addicted DBD. seeing all these changes without being mad. I don’t care what and how they destroy the game even further. But reading the comments made me more grateful that I have removed DBD from my daily bases. As a killer role enjoyer, I like to win BUT I don’t want to stress to win. this is the first thing. Second thing is, how survivors are on the edge. removing the cannibal masks because it spreads hate? seriously? Is wearing what makes my killer “looks” more intimidating makes me a racist or hater? are you serious now? is DBD now have a touch on real life? a videogame? in a stupid unrealistic game?
This is why games are getting to be destroyed.
We wanted the game to be fixed and balanced for a long time and the devs comes up with this bulls? I don’t hide the fact I enjoyed DBD for along time and wanted it to be balanced but if they keep coming with stupid stuff like the masks removal. And to the people who get triggered for flashlight clicks ir gate dancing is helping too. You people worry about “toxic” behavour over game balancing. keep being soft and cry over stupid things to keep the game from being balanced. Good job to you all and good job to the dummy devs.

Glad to see the devs take this action to remove the unlockable masks for Bubba. I think it was the right call to remove all of them and compensate generously, even though I would have happily accepted it if they just straight up removed them.
I'm interested to see how Dead Man's Switch might be fun to pair with a couple of other gen defense perks, I also think Eruption might pair well too.
So can we remove Claudette because she is black?
Using Claudette face always felt kinda iffy and uncomfortable for me. So I've always just opt for the dweet or meg head one because they have a really funny expression on them.
It's really sad to hear that so many people would go out of their way to harass black players with the Claudette mask. I knew that people used it problematically but i never knew that it was actually that bad and how they used it to target people like that.
Why not remove the crouch button while they're at it.

I have actual dealt with this racist behavior before in this game and I’m not even black but for someone to do this is honestly just tiring because you have nothing going on in ur life but to sit and act this way. But in all I’m glad this is happening because even if your not racist, it’s still a problem and I respect that it’s being handle.

Yes upsetting for sure, first off leather face is like the only killer with a unique cosmetic unlock like that. Second leather face makes masks outta peoples faces, he doesn’t care about your race, only the very small amount of racists that I have never even witnessed on the game do that. But sure remove the only unique cosmetic unlock, I’m sure that’ll remove all the racists and improve the game I guess.
