Well it looks like the “Masters of Horror” Collection of NFT’s did turn out to be real after all and in fact Dead By Daylight did some work on at least the character models for them before handing them off to Boss Protocol. What do we think of this and where do we go from here?
In this video we’re going to try to explain exactly what an NFT is. Don’t ask me to explain why people buy them, I have no explanation for that. I don’t think they are a good value and I would never recommend these to anyone.

For me NFT stands for No eFFing Thanks, but what do you think about all this NFT mess? Is this a misstep by Dead By Daylight trend jumping and getting hammered with public outcry? Was this merely a stipulation by Park Avenue to get the license? Are you fearful this could lead to DBD getting banned on Steam if it continues? Let me know what you think about all this.

am happy birthday pauliee everything cool for you and your life
I'm not wrong right? Happy birthday my dear paulie, stay awesome, you are a really nice and cool guy! I really love you and your content. You have such a great personality. 🙂
NFT really seems stupid.
VHS is looking more and more tempting by the minute.
We need to show how much we hate the NFTs don’t buy anything new or old shit don’t give them any money at all and don’t play pinhead you can play the game but don’t buy anything from them
Wow this first time I even seen pauile not agree with dbd devs
Some people just go to far without actually realising how to fight against environmental control, like voting out the people who endorse the environmental wreckage. I see alot of hypocrisy in them too and am just gobsmacked they cant see it. So dont worry about it. Everyone is a hypocrite somehow and we just need to stop pointing fingers
I can’t like anything anymore, every good thing in my life is turning out to be a bad thing😑
NFTS are stupid
It's a great game, but seeing the crazy price charges for cosmetics nothing would surprise me when it comes to cashing in & leeching of the customer base and I think they would work with anybody. Also… happy birthday you geezer 🙂
When I said it was real, that BHVR did this. Everyone on reddit, here on youtube, on twitter, spitted on me and even send me death threats to shut up. Now it turns out it's real and I was right. Honestly tho, fuck this community and fuck this game.
I just feel like we should all get refunds on the dlc
Its sad how clear you've been about hating this NFT BS yet people still call you out as if you support them, saw a few twitter replies that were saying such things, hope this clears it up, I don't see anyone big in the dbd scene that supports these
Happy Birthday dude
Just to clear NFTs up for people who don’t know how and why it’s valuable so that you guys don’t fall for blanket statements cuz technically what Paulie is saying financial advice and he should be careful about his comments. But NFTs are valuable because they provide bragging rights. That's the entire point of why they have value, they signal socially that someone has something that no one else can, much like someone can own the Mona Lisa even if one can make perfect copies of it (theoretically). There is value in owning the original. The monetary value of that work is attached to the actual NFT connected to the blockchain.
I like your content and the way you go about heavy topics in general, but… defending BHVR on this topic let me down and made me think a lot about how far you'd defend the way BHVR treats their consumers by getting shaddier on their bussiness…
Hey Paulie, I'm new to these NFT things too. I hate the idea that Behaviour is working with them and I also hope this is a one off. Seems like a scary thought that they might continue and that Steam might drop/ban them. Thanks for the informative video.
Considering I have yet to see anyone (including Fog Whisperers) happy about this, I hope Behavior decides to not deal with them further.
I personally don't agree with any of the NFTS being sold. I hope that DBD can get out ASAP and no one is gonna buy these.
If BHVR didn't make these models for them, someone else would. I'd rather have Pinhead in the game. If you don't like NFTs (Like I don't like them) don't buy the NFTs. What I really wonder is how many people complaining about the NFTs support Bitcoin?
Imagine when the copyright people get ahold of this crap. Then an image that you got from a google search could get your YouTube video copyright claimed…..NFTs are AWFUL in so many ways. It's a gateway into a whole new world of trouble.
I feel like NFT's are the final spark to a wild fire since ppl have already been hating on dbd cuz of sbmm and the match-making as well as the unfairness towards survivors etc etc. NFT's are bad ofc but i feel ppl wouldnt be so pressed over it if there wasn't already hate towards dbd in the first place. With all these streamers leaving dbd and looking forward to VHS I hope DBD steps up their game listens to their community to help gain come love back
must be a sad life to buy nfts
NFT = money laundering
Happy birthday, hoping it gets better.
Okay? I don't see what the problem is
Why didn't BHVR wait for Barker to get his property back before obtaining the license and doing these shady deals? It's almost like this game has survived 5 years without The Hellraiser. Shady as fuck.
So all of this is pointless, I don't understand why people are losing their minds over something so negligible, just play DBD and other games and have Fun.. Gee Gee 🙂
Happy Birthday!! :))))
Paulie got some balls of steel just by saying the word Nazi on YouTube
Again all these people complaining about NFT being bad against the environment. Still drive cars, eat meat, throw out trash, etc.. There are things WE ALL DO things that contribute badly to the environment. We all try to do something to offset it. If your gun ho on the enviroment. Tell our government to invest into nuke power, go after china for their issues, and stop wasting food. Because those three things would help out our enviroment so much more in many levels.
Happy birthday paulie 🎂
Most people seem to hate NFTs in general based on an argument against proof of work blockchains. Cool, except these NFTs are minted on Eth, which is already moving to proof of stake, and can already be encapsulated in other layer 2 PoS chains to completely negate the argument, but people would rather freak out over something they can't understand. The irony is that NFTs for digital goods in games would give ownership to the gamers themselves. Buy a cosmetic or unlock a character on xbox but want to use it on steam? Tough, you don't actually own it. With NFT, you'd be able to actually own your items and use them anywhere. But we can't have nice things.
I don't think boycotting twitter or marvel is an avenue that's going to achieve any results, but I do think BHVR need to get the message that we don't want this sort of stuff associated with the game we all love, and if a small boycott is what sends that message, so be it.
I still want to play the game, but I'm probably not going to be spending any more money on it from now on, and I'm certainly not buying the Pinhead chapter.
Great video. I really appreciate your thoughtful and nuanced take on all this. Really disheartening to see so many DBD creators and community members salivating every chance to tear down DBD and its Devs. I don't think creating an NFT is inherently evil, just an eye-roll. But they definitely have some explaining to do because the way this is all coming out is just sloppy, bad optics.
Those Evolved Apes NFT's are, uh… they're… um… ah, fricken racist.
Uh oh… Paulie now getting removed from The fog whisperers (?)
You have no morals or values. Shame on you
The whole NFT situation is so uncomfortable, why are they doing this to us????!
I respect you so much for being a fog whisperer yet you don't shy from calling out controversy. Love you Paulie!
I’m in over my head a little here but from what I’ve read many NFTs are built on Ethereum which has a cap on block chain size which is why it takes lots of computing power = bad for planet. If they would use a different crypto like BSV which doesn’t limit blockchain, the energy consumption is drastically reduced. I’m not advocating for NFTs AT ALL here but in my limited understanding crypto isn’t going anywhere so it makes sense to adopt the most eco-friendly one, no? I wonder why those decisions are made the way they are.
Wow! NFT's are so dumb!
I don't think anyone IN the community even cares about the NFT's all these people just showed up with private profiles no hours complaining about them – do you even play the game?
I think it's kind of ignorant to join to community to advocate against something you are against within that community. Or maybe it's not, but to expect us to give you the time of day certainly is.
I don't understand NFTs, but in the end it's BHVR's decision whether or not they want to pursue other ways to make more money. BHVR is a company and that's what companies strive to achieve, make as much money as possible. I don't agree with it I think it's dumb too, but with enough pushback and just not buying the NFTs I doubt BHVR will continue on with it. Personally I don't see this lasting long at all. Maybe it'll shutdown before the rights go back to Clive
Bought undertakers nft , they rise in value. But well ingame Model nfts mhmm dont seem to be worth
Sorry but.. Dealing with this is NOT worth the license. I already had suspensions about the Evil Dead game due to the "location" of the company making it.. and… Now I honestly doubt that game will actually come out in the first place.. And even if it does I am not sure I would be willing to get it as long as that person has their name somewhere on it. I am fine with free speech. He can say what he wants. But its also my choice to support something or not.. I really do not think I want to support that person.. and if I knew ANY of this. I would NOT have bought the Hellraiser DLC, and I would NOT have bought the Chatterer cosmetic set.. I feel that BHVR honestly owes us a bit for not disclosing anything of this till a fair amount of time AFTER the Hellraiser DLC came out. This is insanely scummy and shady as hell by BHVR.
NFT, like most art, is a way to launder money for criminal organizations. Lol.
Happy birthday paulie! <3
just to clarify the whole NFT thing in a more tangible way: remember when an artist sold a banana taped to a wall for like $15m or something like that? it works kid of like that. contemporary art is more about the idea than the art piece itself. so what the now owner of the banana bought wasn't the banana itself, but the concept and idea, signed by the artist. anyone can tape a banana to a wall, but none of these people have a paper saying they own what is basically "a piece of that intelectual property" linked to the artist. So what I can see about the DBD's (and I might be wrong) is that, whomever buys a share of this NFTs is actually getting involved in the company, somehow. the more the franchise grows, the more value the NFT has. so it brings investors, etc to the table. again, I might be wrong. fucking capitalism, am I right?
