Some games have rank difference restrictions but a game is more enjoyable with friends.

The only good reason I can see someone smurfing is to practice a new move or setup that would be hard to do in high rank. Even though, what’s the point of practicing it if it is so niche.
Not only do smurfs berate bad players, they are also ruining another player's experience with the game. Smurfing can even turn away new players from a game because they just are not having fun going against tryhards. It's so sad.

Overwatch has so many smurfs that I can't hardly stand to even play it anymore. Blizz said years ago no smurfs but they don't do anything to prevent it.

I will admit that when I hit rank 4 as killer I try to de-rank to rank 8. The ranking system is so trash I go from players that are around my skill level to people I just can't catch ever. I want a challenge, but it's not fun when I stand absolutely no chance what so ever. I don't like smurfing to crap on bad players I just go down a little to face people I feel I can go back and forth with.

I'd like to throw in one other possible reason for smurfing. Money. We all know how things are. If you're good or you put up great games then the better chance to get viewers, subs, and donations. So if you smurf you have a better chance to get "amazing" gameplay to get more views. And thus more money and praise from fans.
I definately agree and understand where you are coming from. But what if ya meet someone new that is new to the game? And so you are helping them out and also for them to understand the game? Second is that going against sweaty rank ones constantly when you are just trying to have a good time yourself. Sometimes taking a step back is good. I definately agree with the gloating and being rude and laughing at someone else is garbage to do. But just trying to give my opinion on the smurfing. And say you don't want to lose your rank one so you help them get started to where they are more comfortable with playing. Teaching them along the way. I personally don't care for ranks. So I use my main accaunt and just enjoy playing the game. But sometimes it is nice to take a step back from sweaty games

smurfing ruined any chance of me trying league properly. Ive tried it like 4 times over the past decade, and every time without fail, an admitted smurf has been on my side or the enemy side and the game just ends when they feel like it. Smurfs should be banned the same as cheaters.
