  1. Of course there's no difference. This is the dumbest argument ever. Literally. The dumbest. Thanks for making this vid because one of my favorite streamers is always saying EU players are wayyy sweatier than anything anyone else experiences and it makes me mental. I like this streamer, but ffs get off the eu players soap box because the last time I checked there's the same amount of dopes in eu as na. I'm dope so I know a dope when I see one and there's plenty of dopes in this person's streams he plays against. 👍

  2. "Probably the most famous one you've heard of is Koreans are the best at Starcraft right? That's probably like, the most universally known one."

Nope. I have never heard this, ever. 😶
Then again, I really never heard of Starcraft before I started watching Scott years ago and he brings it up every now and then.

  3. The ultimate way to determine skill across regions is this:
People on MY region are the sweatiest, bestest players ever. People on YOUR region are muppets, your life must be sugar and velvet.
Also, people on MY platform are the best, but those players on THAT OTHER platform are just the worst, am I right?

  4. I can actually speak in depth to the Starcraft analogy used here since I've been watching SC pro stuff since like, 2010 or so.
Koreans actually are indeed better than most other players from most other regions.
It's only extremely recently that Serral (Finland) became extremely dominant and generally considered best. The only other player who has a decent winrate vs him, is Raynor (Italian) although Raynor doesn't have as good a record vs Koreans, Clem (French) is the only other non-Korean of comparable skill, and those 3 are very, very, close to one another in skill up at the top.
But you know who else is indistinguishably close to them in skill? Maru, Rogue, Parting, Dark, Trap, sOs, Zest, Bomber, Cure, Showtime, Byun, Innovation, Bunny, etc etc, all Korean.
And that's only the people off the top of my head that are currently in the scene, I'm leaving out like, half a dozen or so other names that spring to mind of Koreans who have since moved on, or had to stop to do their mandatory 2 years of military training.
One of the players I mentioned? A zerg player called Dark, he was famous for literally never losing to any non-Korean player in any tournament. Serral was the first person to change that back in 2018 when he rose to prominence. Korean dominance was so prevalent that they would hold region locked tournaments, and entirely separate tournament circuits for Koreans.

Now, there are a ton of really cool reasons why this has been the case, and it has slowly changed over time.
Mostly because players and pro teams in other regions started training in Korea, and copying the things they did like the teamhouse model, where you have your team of all these insanely good players and you bring them in to live in the same building and do literally nothing but train, practice, coach, be coached, watch/analyze games 16-20 hours a day ever day.
Although Koreans still view Starcraft e-sports much differently than we do in the west.
Pro players are celebrities that often need bodyguards to leave their homes, they have popular ongoing televised tournaments, hell the Starcraft Broodwar (1998) scene is still just as if not more popular over there than Starcraft 2's pro scene (2010-current via DLC's).

Now-a-days, we have a respectable smattering of EU and NA players, and interesting stereotypes/style differences across regions.
The Korean scene often favors timing attacks and aggression, the EU zerg scene in particular is extremely competitive and aggressive, although they also express a more defensive style where they absorb all the damage you try to deal, while slowly outgrowing you over time and then destroying you in the late game.
The NA scene has such a breadth of uniquely potent strategies, that it's become a very unique quirk/joke, that in a tournament, ANY NA player, can beat any other NA player. Regardless of perceived difference in skill/ranking.

  5. Wait Scott uploaded 4 hours of pure dbd. Brb. I just found out theres a video i need to watch.

Also Scott, in terms of your confirmation bias i think its fair to take into account that if people are going to make claims without at least making a fair attempt to try and view evidence that they are right is right is sort of its own confirmation bias.
Person 1: "This is absolutely true"
Person 2: "Here is some evidence i collected, its not much but its honest work"
P1: "Eh idk if i wanna watch it"
To an analytical brain like mine, that speaks volumes. I can understand making claims on beleifs and not wanting to invest in proving it but if someone is handing you any type of evidence and you just reject it without thought, … To me… Youre just kind of ranting pointlessly.

  6. I have played on Asia server before and I will say on average it is more competitive/sweaty server. Killer tunnel and slugging is a very common tactic and if you played that way no survivors will blame you in the end game chat because they see it as a normal and fair strategy. One additional reason is the absence of console players in the server. People who played PC only game knows that it tends to be more sweaty or toxic. Pc only player tend to have more stupid ego and they will disconnect soon something didn’t go with their plan.

  7. sometimes i get put with eastern europeans in my eu server and omg they are the most toxic i've been insulted a few times in end game chat but when there is a eastern european they have always said something vile (N-word, F-bomb, etc)

  8. I swf with a friend in Asia and I can solidly confirm that every single killer in those servers will always tunnel the first hook to death. Whether it's to the benefit or detriment of their win/loss is a non-factor. A killer playing in the Asia servers will ALWAYS tunnel their first hook to death. They then play normally for the rest of the match, however much or little the time is left after tunneling the first survivor.
