  1. This is such an important message that I wish more people would consider. When I made that Top 10 Killers video, I hit a breaking point where I grew so sick of people whining because I said something they didn't agree with. It got more annoying when certain folks started twisting my words and opinions around. I soon realized that these folks who come in and rail you for having less hours than them (allegedly) and having a different opinion than theirs, they are not there for conversation. They are there for validation as much as possible, to the point where they will accuse you of your "fandom" and even go so far as to be like "this other streamer says you're trash". And for what? Because you enjoy something they don't? Childish.

Who tf cares? Why should I care about what some random person thinks of me? My opinion is invalid because it doesn't 100% fall in line with another schmuck's?

Make the content you want to make. Make the content you enjoy making. Make the content that gets you out of bed, gets you to feed yourself, and drives you to where you absolutely HAVE to make it for your own satisfaction. I've adopted that mindset for the past year and a half, and I am thriving.

  2. This one is a hard pill to swallow. Come here from playing overatch everyday gives me whiplash. In OW, we know a character/map/composition is detrimental, and the only people who disagree are people blatantly abusing it. In DBD, though? You try to tell any side that anything they do is problematic and the get so defensive. It's like you're going after thier livelihoods…

  3. Know something that gets my goat a bit?
When people just right out call something "bad" in this game just because there's something better. Sure, there are complete garbage perks like Territorial and Up the Ante, but things like Iron Grasp and Spies from the Shadows are both solid perks. I feel like something lost upon all these "best build" videos is a lack of regard for making a build that's best *for yourself*. Like, nothing against people who need suggestions on good builds, we all need a helping hand from time to time, but just calling someone's build garbage when it works for themselves is just…not okay with me? I'm a tad out of it today so sorry if my words are like mush.
Anywho, as an example, my current build with pyramid head is sloppy butcher, bloodhound, lightborn, and spies. This works well for me because I try to corral survivors into my wires and I wind up just slapping them more often than getting ranged hits so sloppy + bloodhound make it really easy for me to keep track of people on any map, and spies gives me info if someone is lurking near by that I wouldn't have known otherwise. It just simply works well for me. People have said "there are so many better info perks than spies" but all I really have to say is "I don't care and I probably don't have them anyway"

  4. I miss when I first started playing this game and I played as a default Feng hiding from a Ghostface. I didn't care about the perks I was using, or what the killer was using. I just wanted to survive the match and feel good about it. I miss when not everything was just arguing about OP perks, yelling at each other about which side was worse; I just wanted to play the game. I stopped playing a few months ago and I just feel a lot happier doing so. It's a shame.

  5. See, I use to be the same way, in a way. I think I'm still biased to killer, but the past several months I have exclusively been playing survivor because I feel killer is simply… unfun.

Overall I don't really play much anymore as is. I'll hop on maybe once a month now, and let me tell you. Being "de-programmed" is weird. I can see all my previous arguments, some holds up, some don't.

What I do know is I won't really ever view this game the same again. It lost its chance to keep that fire in me going. I think as soon as I sort of.. started playing the other side and understood it, the game was on a timer for me, because I lost that oomph of "my side good" and sometimes that was all I needed to keep playing.

It was a fun ride, don't get me wrong. But I only watch the game now, occasionally. Go with God bran, the only thing this community has going for it the past year has been a belly full of vindictive hate for eachother. Be careful toeing the line, do your best not to trip on it, your better than this community.

  6. As a centralist on most issues on game and out I feel this all too much. I love hear options even if i don't agree with them its a new perspective and I wish more people were willing to do so. I try to be respectful with my responses and know sometimes I'm not but keep doing what you need to and the rude people who don't even want to give another opinion a chance fuck em. Love you Bran and hope it helps a bit to know a lot of people in your community love your content.

  7. The video game is fine, It's just that there's no manual book because behavior didn't put one in the game so people have no clue what's really going on, But you can tell people are salt junkies

  8. I agree with you it's disappointing how much of the community revolves around debating balance. Even on socials it's difficult to find fan art/clips/ memes (that aren't just balance takes pasted on a meme template) because everything is so overloaded with arguing. Even seriously competitive games have more friendly and inviting communities

  9. My personal take as someone who has played 5 years myself. I stopped caring what people think and just do me personally. I am more interested in just playing to be fun and not winning. The player base in DBD is very toxic in general that just grind on your nerves sooner or later. No matter how paient you are.

  10. Don't think you can't help those people. I am both a veteran and used to be a survivor main that was entitled and going for my side. Although you were the person that showed me the light keep doing what you're doing.

  11. Little preachy, but you played this game for six years bud. Honestly you need a break from this game & community. If this game making emotional why deal with it? You tell us about toxic relationships and to get away from them as far a possible. Maybe you should take your own advice

  12. Wow "You're not allowed to talk about it, because you weren't there." How stupid are those people? You can literally still play old DBD, it just requires a few downloads. I'm sorry you have to deal with those kinds of people.

  13. I value you opinions Bran even though I do not always agree with everything you say. It is refreshing to get a different perspective on things. I check your YT every day for my daily DBD quality content fix so you are doing a spectacular job. Ignore the malcontents, they will never be pleased. Cheers.

  14. It is a shame how people from communities especially from DBD can be so harsh and unaccepting of a difference of opinion or view. People play the game so seriously forgetting its a party game intended for everyone to have fun, which in turn makes it unfun for others and eventually their selfs. Then focus on their own ideology of the game and how it should be played and enjoyed, that they neglect and bash to hear other opinions is truly saddening.

I am a person who has been playing the game since Myers was released and wanted to confirm from a “vet” point of view, there no advance reasoning that we get over the game from plays who haven’t been playing as long as we have the game have changed so much over the years and still things are being learnt improve that its impossible for us to have a more “superior” view. Everyone who plays the game has a vaild opionion and should be heared and embraced. I believe the opinions that should not be taken seriously are ones thats completely ignore reason because they believe they know better or at the expense of others. For example there still some players who are still against the accessibility options, i am hard of hearing myself so having the heartbeat accessibility option is a real breath of fresh air and helps my survivor games so much compared to using 3rd party software i used to use. But on the announcement and hearing the “controversy” how it could effect game balance was so heartbreaking and alienating especially with some people suggesting i shouldn’t play the game n other non appreciated suggestions. People like that are most of the ones giving you hate and you should pay them no mind as they are only thinking of themselfs and too narrow minded to consider others.

I wanted go say i appreciate and cherish the content that you create for the community as its fresh and comes from a place of compassion for not just your own enjoyment but others too, which is so hard to find now as everyone mostly seems to be on one side or the other. I also love the range of content that you provide in which you inform vet and new players of news, gameplay tips and sharing your own thoughts. Im sorry that you get so much hate from the avid different bias sides of the community its very underserved and unfounded. People like you and most of your fanbase are what still keep me playing the game on and off.

There are lots of people in the community that love your content,
Love you to Bran and the community of nice and sweet people ❤

  15. I'm about to the 12 minute mark typing this. I am glad you made this. I know it's hard to say things when people are always ready to tear you down. The negative sticks with us and bogs us down. I am very glad you are coming out and acknowledging the behavior (pun not intended but appreciated) and effect it has been having on you. I very much enjoy listening to your perspectives and watching your content. And I love the discussions you spark.

Finished the video: This really resonated with me. I will work to remember this during my own streams and even just playing off stream. I am a person first. Because some things get me down and have my self esteem spiral, I need to remember there is more to me than being good at video games. And everyone always has room for improvement. Thank you Bran for this video. I needed this today.

  16. I think that since this game, by design, can't do much about people being jerks in the game, the game attracts jerks.

I don't think it's more complicated than that. The game's nature creates a safe space for assholes.

I was streaming killer last night, cuz i had some rituals to do… by the time i finished 2 rituals i was soo pissed off i stopped streaming and deleted the VOD… lately ived been working alot so i have less time to be on DBD, the one time i can play i ended up super discouraged. I basicly went to sleep afterwards… i had no interest or energy for anything else.
