Hmm. Gotta disagree, I think one of the issues is simple. Why play trickster over any other ranged killer strength wise? Most people get main events strength that really was never in question, itโs trickster overall that was in doubt.
Improved cooldown i think is where after main event ends for like 5-10 seconds in the PTB (it was kinda random) you couldn't throw knives if you had any left, kinda like how huntress can't M1 after throwing a hatchet despite being in now animation
Great video man. Very good perspective that I feel people are missing
Iโm pretty sure you misinterpreted the first one. I might be wrong but I think all it means is the power is identical to what it was itโs just when you activate main event you donโt have to hold down the fire button, cuz you auto throw knives. Second features a nice buff so you donโt have to immediately reload after using main event because you vomited out all your knives. The ricochet element I think ads lot more fun to his kit, I think this is pretty minor, But itโs a good little bit of pizzazz.
Thanks for sharing this! ๐
Really liking these discussion videos
Main event won't immediately and instantly activate when you fill the power gauge, it'll still have a activation time and just shoot without needing to hold M1, it might be weird having to control recoil without actively shooting… we'll see. But I do think he has potential. He can play basically like a more versatile huntress in loops, and straight up machine gun people down outside of loops. Plus stealth potential and the main event which is basically a 10s(?) corrupt purge puke
How are Tricksters buffs even remotely good?
Actually, this could be terrible depending on how they implement it. Trickster has a cooldown where he can't throw after using main event, so if it actually still has that, and it automatically activates, that means that Trickster now has to be extremely mindful on whether or not to use even his basic power on places with lots of line of site blockers.
Also, there's the possibility that "canceling the power early" could wipe the gauge back to 0 and have all the cooldowns. The survivor is faster than Trickster in Main event, so yes, you can turn yourself into an M1 killer again if they hide behind a LOS blocker, but then you can't use knives at all, whereas in PTB, Trickster could just ignore the power, and play normally, which was stronger.
This unironically could turn Trickster into dogshit if BHVR approaches this in a dumb manner, which they might.
There's still the glaring problem with him not being an actual trickster. Using that as a stage name doesn't work at all, it sounds awkward and something you'd expect a wattpad tween girl to call her Mary Sue. Doing tricks with his blades isn't even a part of his base power, and moreover he doesn't even trick people in order to kill them, he straight up kidnaps them. Claiming he's "tricking" people into thinking he's a nice, charming idol is spectacular bs because this isn't unique to any artist. I can guarantee you the creation process went like this – they pitched a "trickster" character, someone said the k-pop thing went really well with Riot games and wanted to make them a k-pop artist, someone else pitched making him like an fps character, then they splashed the trickster idea in the most lazy way possible and convinced themselves it works. It feels extremely forced and out of place to call him "The Trickster" but they were so committed to the title they simply kept it.
You'd imagine a trickster to be a far more versatile character with many faces you don't know what to expect from. "The Showman" or something would fit this guy way better. You know what to expect of him, his kit works in a very linear way and there isn't any tricking, just outplay. There's a million times more tricking when playing spirit, hell, playing her optimally actually requires you to trick people. Even with the twins you have options to mindfuck because you can fake being somewhere else with one or the other. I'd expect at least some similar element with a character whose identity is titled "The Trickster". If I were new to the game and wanted to get the character that lets me fuck with survivors the most, seeing this name would, ironically, trick me into believing he'd be the one, and upon reading his ability I'd sure as hell be puzzled as to why he's named that.
Hate to burst your bubble but the tweet said " main event will automatically throw knifes when **activated**" so you'll still need to activate it manually. You just don't need to hold m1 to throw knifes anymore .
So it is just a couple of QoL changes. Which is nice, he needed it. But a little more would have been nicer
These "buffs" are shit and continue to show that the Devs ignore the killer mains and listening to our feedback.
