Why is this story worth telling? Unsurprisingly, I have a theory about that!

  1. No I don't think so that all frank stone thing was start of dbd , Augustine might be someone like a observer, she's also traveled through timeline, she might see entity as god or something like plague does, like why would entity need frank stone to create trials, frank stone was just a offering from Augustine to entity so she could have share in knowledge that entity holds just like all those killings were offering from frank stone to accept him ! The entity is not just multiversal but omniversal , so why would a omniversal being need frank stone ,

  2. The Entatiy acts exectly how it does in dbds lore at the beining only really apearing wwhen it finds someone its intrested in and taking them. We know thanks to visual details and deep lore notes in dbds rifts that the enitys eats entire worlds oucassionaly, id ardue Augustines plans was more to anchour a killer the enity already took to a world to sacrifice it. The balck vaile is entity obsed turning pople into killers hoping to make an aceptible offering for the entity to take , following that Augustine courputs Frank and indoing so opens him up to the entity which after the massicer take shim she then uses magic or sciens bribgs him back and anchours him in her world to which the entity comes serching for himand takes the world to boot.

  3. Another baseless theory literally deconfirmed by the game and surrounding lore! 2/2 😍!!
(Christine = Augustine got deconfirmed by the executive producer, Traci Tufte in an interview on Deadline)
Anyways, no. This game does not change DBD's realm. The reason Sam knows so little about the trails is because nobody has escaped the entities realm before, meaning nobody could've exactly just gone out and told people about them LOL. Frank hooks people because Augustine conditioned him to to "train" him for the entities realm. The order of who makes it out first has zero canon implications because its completely based off of who made it out of the manor first (Linda leaves right after the elevator bit, made then leaves after her chase, then Christine after going back to the screening room, and then Sam after running from Frank). Also I think Chris / Linda have only experienced one trial, because they would be a lot more drained of hope if they had gone through many, they likely had one trial, and then were right back where they where (if they even had a trial, its also super likely they didn't). The entity has been doing trials for an untold amount of time. Literally clips you've shown in this video directly disprove this theory, with Sam saying its "Something far older". The four survivors there if you get an everyone lives are just there because they are the iconic DBD 4 survivors. DBD lore is pretty specific in saying that every match of DBD is canon, and Dwight, Claudette, Jake, and Meg can all be in trials in the current game right now, and the DBD lroe follows pretty closely with the timeline of events happening irl (like the time in the entities realm moves, and as characters are introduced IRL into the game, they get taken by the entity), meanuinf Dwight, Meg, Claudette, and Jake are still canonically survivors in the realm, not husks (or at least versions of them are). Also how tf could Frank inspire the entity while the entity inspires him, that just doesn't make any sense lol. The entity has always had the ability to move through dimensions, it DID NOT get it through the events in this game, that is just completely untrue in DBD lore. Augustine also did not sacrifice the ENTIRE WORLD, that is just not possible, we know in DBD lore there are huge groups of the black vale and stuff, so if all you needed to do was breed a killer and then get like 4 people sacrificed, then there wouldn't be any world left ever whatsoever.

This game is NOT the story of how the trials started. It just isn't at all. It's important because it explains and helps us understand DBD lore and the multiverse ALOT better, but it is not that level of importance.

  4. As a fellow lore keeper fan, I was hyper alert for references, SuperMassive nods, killer cutie pie dolls, and larger implications for the DBD universe. “A series of trials” is a definite reference to the nature of DBD matches, although it is confusing that the world jumping Sam is not at the campfire first. I really want more information about Augustine so we can learn exactly when her Black Vale schemes started. Or else how the Black Vale dispatched her, and many other versions of her, to cause havoc, death and despair… maybe the other way around?

  5. The biggest thing confusing me is linda from 2024.

Throughout different choices and conversations you can see that she both knows something about the tapes and even has trauma from it , a whole bunch of stuff that basically infers frank stone DID happen in this universe especially considering the tapes were split. . . Yet somehow. . . She has GENUINE memories of a different timeline where she never encountered frank stone. . . It makes absolutely no sense because it is implied if they encounter frank stone, they split up the tapes. How are her memories not aligned with her own timeline then? It makes no sense and it absolutely KILLS me because she is my favorite character 🤣😭

I have a theory that she also jumped timelines at some point. If you send chris back through the portal and decide not to talk about what happened, she almost immediately starts to forget and gets foggy memories. Linda also has foggy memories sometimes but honestly it's such a small detail that it could honestly be nothing and not related at all. Other than that though I can't think of any other real explanations.

  6. The only thing that still confuses me is that when you don't pick up Linda at the side of the road, Madi can see a strange light in the woods. This is presumably a campfire, so why is it there? Does the campfire mean that the entire game was already set inside the entities realm? Or is there some other significance for it being there?

  7. I really love this theory!! A lot of people don’t like it as it implies The Entity “needs” Augustine and Frank. This is of course false: if, as Sam implies, Frank and at least part of The Entity were trapped in the celluloid film of Murder Mill, then it had an endless amount of emotion to feed on from Frank’s suffering, and it seems as if it took all of it, as Frank’s spirit demean led a Haunt (a spirit banished to The Void as they have run out of emotion). It just needed Augustine to assemble the film and let it out. When Augustine has served her purpose, The Entity kills and takes her because, as we know, it doesn’t care about The Black Vale or those worshipping it: it just wants to toy and torture people and feast on their emotions.

I disagree that The Entity failed to take Frank’s soul – it likely pulled a Spirit and chose not to take him yet, as it knew if it waited it would have far richer emotion to take from. It’s also possible The Entity DID take Frank, as his phantom looks like a Haunt which implies he was tossed to The Void
