There’s no hope that the Freddy rework in DBD will be good. It might be okayish at best. The hopeless endeavor to include the failed binary sleep mechanic into his kit will not work.

  1. I think it would be cool if Freddy could turn into other killers and get their powers for a short time when survivors are in the dream world. Or even pretend to be a survivor and able to attack others in the dream world. But idk how that would work with license content or what killers could be used with how many are already in the game.

  2. Don’t get me worked up more then I am about this I’m already terrified for this buff I hope they at least let us alternate between pallets and snares instead of add ons. I hope they change some add ons too. I don’t want him to get fully reworked I like the idea of hindering people with traps I seen a recent interview with Mathieu where he made is seem like they’re changing his power completely maybe even removing dream world

  3. The sleep mechanic is a core part of the character outside of DBD. He is powerless in the real world. I have an idea:
    Keeping the microsleep effect –
Dream Demon: the dream world is The Nightmare's world. During the trial survivors experience microsleep, after 30 seconds a survivor falls asleep and enters the dream world, while in the dream world nothing is what it seems. While in the dream world the nightmare has the ability to manipulate the tiles of the map, survivors in the dream world have a copy of them mimicking their moves and interactions, and awake survivors have a mirror image doing the same thing. Awake survivors can still wake up sleeping survivors and there are still alarm clocks survivors can use. When you use the secondary power button, Ctrl, you manifest into the real world effectively becoming an m1 killer, leaving the dream world, while in the real world survivors asleep cannot see you and when in the dream world survivors awake cannot see you, all they hear is the lullaby. When the nightmare hits someone while manifested he drags himself and the survivor into the dream world. Anything that happens in the dream world or real world affects the opposite world as well. When you use the power button in the dream world the nightmare can manipulate tiles and do things like spin them changing the layout of the tile and map or flip them upside down forcing survivors to crouch under windows instead of vaulting them. This applies to walls obstacles etc.
This rework would require allot of effort and optimization but it would be so cool if Freddy could actually change the map layout and manipulate tiles.

  4. They need to make the dream world you don't want to be in i feel thats why you think all those concepts are boring, like yea playing survivor and being slowly doing a generator is gonna feel like shit but it is Freddy's domain and he can toy with you however he likes so it incentives people to get out or suffer the consequences cause when i play against freddy i dont care that I'm in the dream world but this would make me get off gens and make sure to get to a clock to wake me up

  5. What if Freddy, instead of teleporting to generators he can teleport to any ASLEEP survivor since he is a dream demon, which will make survivors want to wake up, still being able to hit woken survivors

  6. I just hope sometime soon they swap Reboot Freddy with the REAL Freddy with voice lines. Reboot Freddy could just be a brown rarity set. I have my doubts it'll be this year; maybe someday.

  7. I don't really agree that the binary sleep system is flawed by its base nature, only it's implementation. It's not thematically perfect, but that's true for most characters.

The current problem is the nature of the killer's power is shitty clown and a mediocre teleport. Avoiding falling asleep isn't an engaging choice because he isn't very threatening when asleep and even if you wake up, by the time he finds you you'll likely be asleep soon anyways.

So overall we need a more kinetic, interesting chase power that makes people afraid to be asleep. Think wesker infection making you not want to stay infected. That makes it a choice rather than a "god damn it my teammate is an idiot because he's wasting time waking up" situation. It would also introduce more skill into playing the character. We also need the killer to play a role in putting them to sleep in exchange, perhaps like he did originally by targeting them.

If we're being lazy, a timed automatic debuff system like what we currently have can still work, but we still need more potency from the killer power and more counter in terms of the value alarm clocks bring, perhaps requiring they actively be chased for the last 30 seconds or be hit to fall asleep.

  8. 1:45 Strongly disagree. The problem is with implementation.

Number 1) It should be harder to wake up. Other asleep survivors should not be able to wake you up. And freddy should be notified if an awake survivor is waking you up. The alarm clock should be gotten rid of entirely. If you complete a gen that should wake you up.

    2) The dream world itself should be more dangerous with more fake items for survivors to interact with. Like fake generators that let you get through a quarter of it and then takes a health state. Fake totems that take a health state and glow. Fake vaults. Fake chests that take a health state. Get rid of his blood pools. Fake pallets should stay. Theres probably more that could be done too, like breakable walls look like they arent there even if they are, or vice versa. Fake terror radius', fake lullaby. The dream world shoukd be as dangerous, scary, and confusing as possible.

I see you hste the dream gen idea 😂, the reality is freddy is a slow killer, there needs to be things that slow the game down. 50% is a bit much tho

    freddy buff idea

    Would love thoughts and opinions

+Gain the ability to place dream pallets and dream snares 5 of each

    *New ability dream generators
Place a dream generator that only sleeping survivors can see and interact with, if interacted with survivors must work on it for 8 seconds, the last 4 seconds survivors must deal with repeated skills checks in which then the dream generator will disappear

+healthy sleeping survivors who fails the skill checks or stops interacting with the dream generator become injured

+Injured sleeping survivors failing the dream generator alert Freddy of their location and allows freddy to teleport to that dream generator with a 1 second channel time

-Dream generators have no collision with awake survivors, and Freddy, only asleep survivors

+Cooldown is 50 seconds, can place up to 4 dream generators

+when teleporting to a generator gain killer instinct within 12 meters of the generator lasting 3 seconds

    -Dream Clocks
Buff duration from 30 to 40 seconds

    – survivors in chase have their sleep and dream clock protection timer go down 2X faster

+ survivors that are hit by the killer will lose their dream clock protection

+ survivors who are unhooked gain dream clock protection timer

+When all generators are completed all dream clock protection are removed and clocks can only be used to wake up

+Reduced repeated wake up penalty from 4 seconds to 3 seconds

+wake up penalty maxes at 9 seconds down from 12 seconds

That's all the changes I have for Freddy, this is just my thoughts on what the changes for him could be
Making him more interested and less boring to play against.

I didn't touch on teleport cooldowns because I didn't know all the numbers but since survivors are sleeping more often I decided not to touch that aspect

    Questions

1)Can you use toolboxes on dream generators?

Yes, and using toolboxes or perks will speed up the process of removing dream generators

    2) What happens if you use a toolbox with brand new part?

The brand new part will be used but automatically removes the dream generator

    3) can Freddy teleport to a dream generator if a survivor is working on it?

Yes, and the survivor will be kicked off it without any harm

    4) what if Freddy finds me doing a dream generator?

He will be unable to grab you but can still injure you

    5) what about maps and aura reading perks?

Aura reading perks such as deja Vu, and visionary will see Dream generators as regular generators

Thus throwing deja Vu speed bonus off real generator unless survivor is awake.

Maps however with the tracking killer belongs effect will be able to read dream generators as white instead of red.

    6) how to counter dream generators?

Remember where Generators are when awake

Don't group up on generators that are unrepaired

Being injured only alerts Freddy, and allows him to teleport to it, if he's busy with another interaction, he won't be able to teleport on you, plus 99% heal tech

    7) what about using potential energy on a dream generator?

Can use potential energy on a dream generator but can't charge it on a dream generator, 8 tokens of potential energy can remove a dream generator instantly

    8) can the new posied work on dream generators, always revealing Freddy's aura?

Yes but only once from that generator placement, a new dream generator in the same location won't reactivate posied

    9) does corrupt intervention block dream generators of the black box is used?

No dream generators are not effected by any generator perks

    10) what about wire tap, and blast mine?

Those perks can't be used on a dream generator and remember that those perks don't work unless the generator has any amount of progress, but if a survivor were to try to use it on a dream generator while another survivor was working on it, it wouldn't activate

    11) does terror radius and skill checks perks effect the skill checks of the Dream generator?

No, the skill checks are consistent and act as the perk merciless storm

    12) does generator slowdown speed effect dream generators?

Yes they do just like how tool boxes and perks speed up the process, slow down perks make them last longer.

  10. Dont be such a downer. Its always possible they could have a creative idea. I mean the first freddy design was pretty cool and technically way more movie accurate than anything later. It just had major flaws like that he could be body blocked while carrying with ease. But it did remind of the movies when there was just a floating dude flying towards the hook if you were awake yourself.

  11. That would explain why I have not played against Freddy for a long time but what don't make sense is now people have a problem with Freddy now and not when he first came to the game people need to start confronting issues the second the problem hits and not years later
