I played nurse today for the first time in half a year and the first thing I faced was a 4 man SWF, 4 dh, 4 unbreakables, 4 ds's…. the works. There was no way in hell I could have gotten a 4k on that game if I played anything other then nurse. If we are to close the gap between Blight and nurse and the rest of the killers, survivors meta and abysmal maps (Fractured cowshed and Gideon meat plant, for example) should also be addressed in the same patch. To me, mid chapters are so much more exciting then newer content, because behavior are healing the game during those time periods (something we need desperately).
The problem is there ain´t a solution that would make everyone happy in this asymmetrical game, check out the new changes to the meta, at first I was happy (as someone that prefers killer) but then I see videos of 5 health states with the new changes and still see main survivors saying the devs favor them So for example a way to fix this would be (for me) buff other killers, make them better but also harder so people have a reason to not play nurse/blight but that would make the survs cry, so then nerf nurse which also will have backlash
I really like these history video over certain aspects of the game, I hope you do more
Edit regarding nurses difficulty, while yes nurse is difficult to master she’s actually kinda over exaggerated when it comes to simply playing her, I myself am not a nurse master by any means but when I’m not going against the absolute best I find myself 4k’ing after a few gens get done the primary difference from nurse masters and nurse player seems to be the gen count if you’re a master the gen count is at 5 or 4 if you had a particularly bad game but if you’re just a nurse player like me you still 4K it’s just at 2 or 1 gen remaining which is a difference don’t get me wrong but it forces casual survivors to constantly prep for nurses because if a nurse lands even a few good blinks it’s gg
Perhaps if they buffed killers to compete at their standard, there might be competition.
The problem is survivors don't like to play in a way that isn't looping. So killers who counter that (PH, Nurse, Blight, Slinger, Artist, etc) are hated for that reason. Survivors have to break the mindset that Looping (an exploit when discovered) is the only way to chase a killer.
She should ONLY be nerfed on her add on, not her base kit. And a LOT of other killer need HEAVY buff or the map should be completly reworked and some of them literally cut in half
In my honest opinion, I believe nurse’s high skill ceiling is overrated, but I believe it should continue to stay overrated, because the less people who learn the fact that nurse is easier to learn than what is lead on means not as many nurses. And, let’s be honest, we don’t want Nurse to become even more of a scapegoat of “bad balancing” than she already is by increasing the population
i feel like nurse needs to not be able to go through walls or at least change her power so she leaves behind remmants that she can teleport too might be best imo
Nurse is such a problem child because you literally cannot have certain perks (especially aura reading) be too strong for the sheer fact she exists. A trapper with corrupt ruin undying is one thing, a Nurse with those perks is an entirely different beast. But at the same time, her skill cap means that the average player isn't going to be an amazing nurse, which almost balances her out. Like the skill cap for her is what balances her.
The best solution to fix nurse, is ironically not fixing her but fixing the other killers to be closer to nurse's level of strength
What will happen if we nerf nurse and blights, are that players who played these killers will move on to another new meta killer and this process will keep on repeating. Worst case scenario we get a facecamping bubba every match as that's the most effective strategy to guarantee kills in the next major 6.1.0 patch.
Instead, the devs could tune up the power of existing killers so that each killer will have a chance to compete against 4 man swfs with items. One example will be buffing the wraith's uncloaking speed alongside increasing the uncloak lunge back to it's original values before the nerf. Another will be giving trapper all available traps in hand at the start of the trial, much like the purple trapper bag addon but it is basekit and you can reposition any traps without penalty.
Buffs like these will make each killer's quality of life way better and more players will start to enjoy playing a variety of killers other than nurse and blights.
There are a ton of ways to buff each killer. Adding onto the 2 examples, deathslinger could get a rework, instead of a railgun, now it shoots pellets and it requires 2 shots to injure a survivor. First shot tags them and 2nd shot will take a health state. With a buff to the gun's reload and ADS speed. This will give deathslinger players the ability to showcase more of their skill in aiming their shots, particularly through small gaps in loops or structures to get their hits in.
High skill, sure, but at what? At DBD, or at measuring the correct distance required to bypass everything that makes this game its own game.
2nd spot Blight all the way down to the bottom killers make you play DBD to a minimum extent, and because Nurse doesn't, the game's mechanics that balance the match get replaced with this survivor "tech" BS that is somehow meant to be a replacement for fair counterplay.
As much as I hate nurse I'm just forced to play her with green range and green recharge it's the most fun I can possibly have next to Franklins hag, the amount of messages saying I'm an awful human is too many to count on one hand, on the other side I hope they rework her entirely to make sure she's good but not well broken.
Honestly, I don’t think Nurse needs a change in base kit (as well as blight). Addons must be nerfed for both, PROBABLY TO THE GROUND for some of them (range nurse, alchemist ring), but in general those are extremely hard to master killers, and reward for putting so much time and effort into a character MUST be close to insane. That’s why you would wanna do that in the first place.
And well yeah maybe, MAYBE the reason for so much nurses and blights running around at high MMR is how sweaty survivors get there. Do you see a ghostface consistently winning against comp team and close to them with all the genrush?
Imo,nurse is the most fair killer in the game,All other killers(maybe except blight)When they face an op swfs with dh and ds and are just too good the killer is gonna lose since also the mmr matchmaking is stupid sometimes,Now in the new update a survivor can have lots of endurance status effects at once so u gotta hit the person so many times to down them once,Nurse is the best one to go against all that as she can hit them and make these status effects useless,And most survivors rely on loops on pallets,They should find a new way to loop if they want to survive nurse
The only ways to nerf nurse would be to mutilate her add-ons, or change her power. Neither are ideal and i think she’s just fine where she is. That being said, the gap between her and the rest of the killers not including blight, can be addressed by buffs all around to close the gap. While a killer like pig will never rival nurse directly, the power gap shrinking would be a positive for both as pig would get better and nurse would stag the same. Too bad the same can’t be said for Myers though…
The issue isn't (mainly) bringing Nurse down to eye level (bag level? potato sack level?) but moreso bringing other killers up to or closer to A or S tier. Theoretically, if every killer had a similar threat level, it would be much easier to balance around that. It would also be far more positive in the community if F, D, and C tiers got deserved buffs or reworks, and maybe some B tier tweaks. At that point, nerfing S tier killers would be much more reasonable since there would then be a much more considerably effective pool of killers to fall back to if the nerfs are too harsh. It would be best if BHVR focused on this now rather than later after adding even more to the current roster and making their lives even harder.
She deserves a rework. If you go against any other killer with an experienced , dedicated player,. Then you'll still have a reasonable chance of escaping or at least be able to stay in the game long enough to actually have fun. If you go against an experienced nurse, then pick a hook and wait to die. Super Alf has a 200+ win streak does he not? If that isn't the clear indication that something needs to change for her i don't know what is. Just because a bigger ratio of people aren't good with her doesn't mean she needs to stay like this.
First hitting after a blink should be considerd a special hit, second Nerf range addons to maybe 30 or 20 %if hoy combine both of them ,same with recharge , make her hitbox while tping More wide so you can at least stun her and make use of pallets , and last of all if she Gets stuned she loses all of her blinks,( i think this change Is very important cause you are making ds a little bit better vs nurse while making it More bearable vs Weaker killers)
Only reason Survivors player say this is because they know Nurse is the only killer that does not give a damn about pallets or walls while any other killer is a sad story
tbh the only way to balance her is to butcher her. basically remove a blink, make fatigue longer and make time to blink longer. thats what id do. after that shes no where near as good but still mid tier.

Which i understand the standpoint, i don't get why NOW we are talking about this? With a meta change around the corner and plenty of changes with that (ye even the off the record shit) would it not be wiser to focus on THAT rather than divert the developers attention to something else? I just seems to be scattering the focus all over the place instead of being consistent. She'll be changed like the others eventually but we have to keep the focus on the present changes on the way first.
I don't want to play Nurse, but I have to if I want to do anything against meta-built SWFs. Any killer that cannot traverse map fast is doomed to suck humongous schlong.
Something that isn't brought up enough in these Nurse discussions is how much she limits design space: a lot of killer perks are intentionally undertuned because if they were tuned to be decent on most killers they'd probably be ungodly broken on Nurse.

Nurse is fine… survivors are just upset they can't bully her like any of the m1 killers

Just boost her speed to Huntress's base movement speed but make only a single blink base kit. Maybe shorten the distance boost of her perks too.
I really liked when they removed her from the game for a month. Maybe just disable some perks and killer every month or something 😂

At the release nurse had 3 blinks by default and Hero base movement speed was faster. Bad old times where me and a few player play this game

There was that brief period where Nurse was disabled, and I think I was enjoying my DbD experience a lot more with her disabled. o.O
