  1. I never understood worship being a creator at all like I complement creators all the time but that’s just complementing. That is not me thinking oh we’re friends we’re gonna hang out on me. Best buddies that’s just super weird. I complement your videos like a regular person and everybody has flaws. at the end of the day worship creator not only because people, but if something comes out, you’re gonna feel like shit

  2. i will NEVER understand people who assume any civilised criticism is IMMEDIATE hate, and that they have to use the power of the “💀” and “😭” emojis to defeat this blasted creature those who faced it call “a different opinion”, just to defend some other youtuber.

i feel like these types of aggressive people lack a type of open mindness, critical thinking and maturity that they should improve on so they don’t embarrass themselves again in the future.

  3. I always disliked Scott, he is very arrogant and dismiss people’s opinions even when he is wrong. He posted a video about the improved Demogorgon after some buffs saying that he leaves no option for the survivors, while I pointed out that “his examples are not very valid since the survivors he went against were clearly bad which means he could have won even with trapper” and he responded with: “the skill of the survivor didn’t matter, he didn’t had options.”…..the survivor refused to drop a pallet only to DH into a wall

  4. I've always found saying "I'm a fan of (insert crater)" a bit difficult. Because I'm a fan of that person's work, not the person themself. A fan of what they do and not what they are. If that makes sense…

I would like to think it comes from treating craters as people. They might be a screwed up person in private, but if what they do in public is awesome that's what I like about them.

  5. New Sub here. You actually made fair points here but low life individuals like to change things up and make unnecessary drama. I've been following otz for a long time and he has answered some of of my questions in stream.

  6. Bro I feel you on this entire topic, when I’m on watch, me and my navy buddies will talk about dbd and it gets so heated because people have very strong opinions and love to bring up content creators and it’s crazy.

  7. "Hours." Sure, the more hours one has, typically the more skilled and knowledgeable they'll be. It's a common belief that it takes 10,000 hours to master a thing. That said, ever work with someone that's been there for 15+ years and they can barely do the job, or are just atrocious at it? 1) How many of those hours are bloated with queue times and rift/bloodwebs and 2) How many of those hours were actual practice, like comp does in customs, in getting better and not just going through the motions?

  8. It's the "not thinking for yourself" that gets me. Always has, every where, every when, every how

Builds come to mind. Throw out a build like The Unforeseen Devotion of Furtive Friends (do give it a go, it's beyond satisfying), and people "um, ackchually" before even trying it. Why? It's a build that takes a only a mild bit of thought, is why, and they don't want to think. Also, Lethal Pursuer is highly overrated, but folks won't come to terms with that, because their favorite content creator loves it

  9. I haven't watched Otz enough to say anything beyond "he generally seems to know what he's talking about", but the more I watch Scott, the more I go "… I don't think I agree with all his arguments."

Edit- Yeah, you can be abrasive and self-loathing and horny and such, but it's all also very sincere. I think that's part of the appeal for people.

  10. I never understood the problem with para social relationships until about 2 years ago. I didn't realize that they actually hurt the people involved, and I thought "Well, they support you and like you, so I don't understand the problem" until I caught myself actively diving into one. I didn't realize it was problematic because I didn't realize I was part of the problem.

I have become a lot more aware about all of it and have disconnected myself from the "he's being nice so we're friends" mindset. I borderline worshipped a couple of people and it really is scary once you see how bad that is, realizing that you're no better and your para social relationships are just a different color than someone else's.

I tried apologizing to a couple of the people that I borderline worshipped because I realized that I severely fucked up. They did recognize it was mostly because I was an immature preteen who just didn't know any better, so they were willing to hear out my apology. A lot of people who worship content creators are young people who are still easily influenced, which is why they adopt someone else's opinion as their own.

While it's still wrong to idolize regular people and few them as gods, it's still important to realize that a vast majority of those people just don't know any better because they haven't finished developing and growing up. Hell, it took me years to realize that I was copying people because I was a child simply absorbing what I was exposed to. Instead of shaming and getting mad at them, we need to realize that they're literally children doing what children do, which is absorb the info given to them.

A big part of this problem too is that a lot of kids nowadays are being raised on the Internet, so the Internet culture is messing with how their brains develop. They see things they shouldn't be seeing and think it's normal, because young children are easily influenced.

  11. In recent times I've noticed the inverse of the Otzdarva problem personally. People have developed such a huge hate boner for him that anything he says is instantly wrong. Even in the range of "This isn't an opinion its a mathematical fact" when comparing perks, people will just instinctually take the opposite side of the argument because god forbid they agree with him. He could say water is wet and you'll get a vocal group calling him a liar.

I'm the type that when learning a game with a lot of complexity I'll just read all the guides and watch all the content to rapidly learn it, that's why most of my friends still think I'm lying when I say I have under 1000 hours in the game and for me Otz was a big part of how I got better at the game in a short time. I still fuck up looping alot, but I can't deny his guide breaking down every tile in the game at the time was a huge help. Granted at least for me the more comfortable I am in a game the less I look up guides and videos beyond "Hey I'm just ass at this killer… does someone knowledgeable have a breakdown to help me understand it better?" And generally Otz is the one with such a guide.

I do agree the worship of creators is insane to me, but I think that's less a DBD problem and more a human problem whether you get into other games, sports, politics, its everywhere. We tend to glob onto things forming parasocial relationships for better or more often worse.

  12. I don't understand stuff like that like at the the end of the day we the viewer just watch whatever video people do. Like okay im pretty bad with works but I'm saying i don't get people putting others that they don't actually know on a pedestal. At the end of the day y'all content creators are just random people that makes us laugh or educate people. Y'all give different perspectives too depending on what y'all create. Like we don't actually know who we watching at a deep level anyways and most of the creators have like personas. I don't comment on videos much because i don't really have much to add on topics. Hell i don't think i added anything here lol

  13. Kaiser you should never say what you said in the video because you can greatly profit off people thinking you’re actually their friend. It’s why advertisers feel it’s so important that “family friendly” channels advertise their products. You’ll get way more patreon subs too.

  14. My feelings are pretty simple. If Otz, Scott, Hens, you, or any noteworthy content creator says something, then you would be wise to listen to it. I do not think you should blindly follow what is said, but if Otz is saying it, I find it's worth hearing him out. Everyone has the capacity to be incorrect. Always challenge your opinions.
