Whenever the killer breaks a pallet you can get an easy blind, and it'll buy you extra time because their disorientation (unless they can hear you really well)

like everybody else is saying, it just takes time to figure out where/when, and timing. you shouldnt use a flashlight like that when the killer isn't locked in an animation, they can just look up or down and you cant blind them. however, using it when they ARE locked in an animation–like a stun (like you did), or picking up a survivor, vaulting a window, breaking a gen, opening a locker, etc–they cant look away or anything, so thats the best time to use it. aim just for the face. there are tips on how to flashlight save, too, if you wanna try that! the timing for it is you start the blind right as the survivor's butt comes up to the killers shoulder, or slightly before.
me when i first started playing, i would just aim the flashlight towards the killer like “GO AWAY HEATHEN” then die, trust tho your aim will get better overtime !

That's me after they changed survivor standing positions, i had a specific strat for the perfect blinding on Xbox but then they made survivors stand up instead of like slightly bent down and that while strategy died

Quick tip for you. If it seems like the killer is being blinded slowly, they have Endurance (less stun time). So if it takes a while to blind, don't even try

Normally I don't use my flashlights unless I have to save a friend, but a way to lose a killer is, after a stun then blind them, you have more potential to escape
