  1. This may be completely ignorant (and if it is please just let me down gently), but I'm thinking what if we bring generators into this equation? What I mean is what if a survivor dc'ing or killing themselves on hook completes the generator with the most progress, so long as the number of remaining survivors is equal to or less than the # of gens left to complete? And obviously this mechanic would go bye bye when only one gen remains. To help visualize this…if someone kills themselves/dc's at the start of a trial, leaving 3 survivors w/ 5 gens, it completes a gen. Same scenario but its mid match and 3 gens have been done, leaving 2 to go: no gen completion. And yes dying on hook to give teammate hatch chance should absolutely remain no matter what.

  2. Honestly I see survivors give up way more when I play survivor and I play both sides a lot. Some dude will get found first and maybe get downed fast or sometimes it’s a decently length chase and then just dc or off themself on hook ruining our game. I only off myself when I know the game is over and we aren’t gonna win. I completely understand people offing themselves when they watch their teammates throw an easily winnable match by doing the legit dumbest shit because I’ve been very tempted to do that.

  3. If we brought back old ds, dh, old endurance meta, old iron will, etc. then I guarantee we’d see a LOT more dcs on the killer side. Bc those things weren’t fun to play against. Back when they WERE in the game, I had a lot of matches where killers dced, and that’s bc the matches felt hopeless and you ran into it all the time, which I get.

With that said, that’s exactly how ppl feel with the most egregious killers. I truly cannot blame anyone for dcing against skull merchant or knight. If you play a killer that you KNOW majority of people hate to go against, then you can’t be surprised that people opt to go next. Most ppl aren’t dcing or killing themselves bc they lost. Even against a killer they don’t really like, most ppl will just deal and do their best until they get out or die.

Most ppl don’t get on their first match and immediately decide to dc. This is a culmination of just bad match after bad match of really unfun killers and really unfun play styles. As a survivor, it gets tiring when you’re constantly being tunneled, camped, going against an asshole who’s using a “meme” build and thinks they’re being funny but it’s actually just a super strong and annoying build, etc. People get tired of that. Especially when it’s damn near every game and you’re just trying to chill. There’s no quitting epidemic. There’s a “ppl are assholes and that makes me not want to play out the match bc it’d be a waste of time” epidemic.

Just last night I went against a bubba who hooked me as their first hook, bmed me on hook just bc I ran him for like maybe 50 seconds before going down, then proceeded to tunnel me the rest of the match and LOST because I actually know what I’m doing, I just messed up and was a little unlucky. By the time he decided to chase other ppl, it was too late since they cranked all the gens. You better believe I waited at the exit gate to give him his tbags. After I left, I saw that he dced even though the match was literally over. I hadn’t done anything to him to warrant the bm, but he got his karma. Maybe he had some bad matches and wanted to take it out on someone else but failed.

Which brings me to my final point. A LOT of killers will play in scummy ways just bc they lost their last match. Had a Freddy that brought fake pallets and knockout and just slugged us all and let us bleed out the whole match. We couldn’t pick anyone up bc it was solo q and we couldn’t see any auras. He griefed our game and we had done nothing to him. Survivors can’t do that. They can tbag and click their flashlights, but ultimately they can’t ruin a killer’s game. Not unless they bug abuse, which is bannable.

So yeah. There’s no quitting problem. People just suck and know what they’re doing. You may like playing a specific killer, but that doesn’t mean the people you’re playing with like going against it. Back to my first point, we’d all love to have our old perks back, but it was miserable for killers so they were toned down. It’s the same here. It’s miserable to play against SM or knight. So yes, dcs will happen. It’s miserable getting tunneled or camped or griefed. So yes, dcs will happen. If bhvr focused on the health of their game instead of constantly making new chapters, you’d have way less dcs. But sadly, that won’t happen. Not for a long time at least. So maybe instead of blaming the ppl who dc and calling them pathetic, we should focus on the ppl who make others not want to play a match. Some ppl genuinely just are babies, but the vast majority just wanna have a chill fun match. Not a sweat or snore fest. I feel ppl always think you’re dcing just bc you really don’t like that killer, and it’s so much more than that. They don’t really see it from survivor pov. And tunneling and camping ARE viable strategies, but that doesn’t make them any less fun to face. I’m also speaking so much from the survivor pov bc that’s who we’re talking about the most here

  4. nah hard disagree with this when it comes to Skull Merchant. Everyone knows why she is hated and it's the reason she's undergone multiple reworks and is going to get reworked again. It's not even that she's super strong (like Nurse or blight for example), it's that the design is horrendous. So if my solo teammates decide to immediately give up against skull merchant, I actually appreciate them saving us the time of an unpleasant game. I also don't blame the skull merchant if they decide to bleed the rest of us out as a result lmao.

  5. If you frequently dc during a match you should get a red symbol next to your name or a red username so other players know you dc alot. I'm worried about blood points for the teammates of a dcing player because they may encourage players to try and make someone else dc… if you think that's too dumb for dbd then…

  6. I don't understand why people want force other people to play a match they don't want to play. It's a online game there is obviously gonna be some players quitting it's in every online game that exist. I'm a left 4 dead 2 player and i see people quitting constently and i've never heard a single person complaint about it anywhere.

  7. I don't agree with the sentiment that there shouldn't be a disconnect penalty because it wouldn't really solve the problem if not make it worse. People who wouldn't disconnect mid game would now do and there wouldn't be any reason to even try. Games like L4D2 don't have a disconnect penalty, because of this, versus games are INSUFFERABLE, most of the time, it is impossible to finish a versus game because people would disconnect at the first chapter of the match.

The self-unhook feature should definitely be available only through offerings or perks, that would, at least most of the time, solve the problem.

The reality is that people will and always disconnect and/or find ways to simply avoid a game, whether it is by being AFK, k*lling themselves on-hook, etcetera. Most of the time, these problems -the players disconnecting mid game- are outside of the developers hands, in my opinion. I think the real question shouldn't be "How we stop players from disconnecting mid game?" and more so "Why are players disconnecting mid game?", I think that way the developers would have much more options to work with.

  8. Personally, Attempt Escape is important to the game’s identity. However, in my opinion, Struggle Skill Checks are not.

I would be willing to bet that if Struggle Skill Checks were completely removed, people wouldn’t Attempt Escape to get out of the game early.

  9. I feel like it was a massive mistake for BHVR to make DC'd killers turn into bots because it makes sense for survivors, one missing teammate is detrimental to the rest of the match, but for killer it doesn't do anything but make the match longer and more boring. I don't get why survivors Dc after seeing a certain killer, it's super entitled for them to go and do that, imagine if killers DC'd after getting Head-On'd twice in a row, because after something like that happens in my eyes it'll likely happen even more, so do we ruin the survivors fun to save ours? Me personally I just tunnel people like that bc if you're gonna do that 5 times in a row I can hook you 3 times in a row lol

  10. I don't think it's really fair to attack the second person the way you did the first one. Once one person DCs I can't blame anyone else for following suit, since one person leaving is already enough to disrupt the game. It's not like the game is any more ruined if anyone else leaves.
Oh god, you just went after them all by the end. The Sable and Feng are equally at fault? For what?

  11. Maybe for the skill checks on second stage of hook, they could add time to your stage? Lower stage 2 hook timer, but make it so that any successful skill check adds a few seconds, buffing the timer to what BHVR wanted, 70 seconds per stage. Otherwise it can be 55 seconds.
People can't go 'GG next', letting the other 3 survivors try and save the game.
This would mean that 15 seconds of stage 2 hook will be determined by skill checks, but this will make the game more new player friendly because messing up won't immediately destroy them.

  12. So about the DC penalty be removed. Absolutely not. The game would crumble into a state of pure on playability. People with DC at the drop of a hat. Making the game more into a lobby simulator than anything else. Some Killers most Killers would basically be impossible to get a match. The game would load the survivors would see the killer and DC like that and now the killer who wants to play against actual people would DC too. Something doesn't go the way that the survivor or killer wanted and they would DC.

  13. I stick with the idea of a Concede feature. To put it in the simplest terms: Survivors can Concede at 2 Survivors left. It's not a vote system, it's straight up once there's only 2, either can quit and be replaced by a bot.

For Killer, it's 2 Gens. At 2 Gens left, the Killer can DC without penalty.

Give the Survivors the BP for whatever Gens are remaining and the Escape if the Killer DCs, give the Killer the Hook Stages and Death BP for the two Survivors, and… fuck, make it so that the game ends if every Survivor DCs, because going against bots is boring.

At 2 Survivors and 2 Gens, both sides will generally know where they stand in a match, whether it can be won, or if it's a straight up loss.

I don't have anything for hook stages, beyond maybe removing the struggle mechanic for stage 2 entirely? If a Survivor wants to die by hook, removing the mini-games won't change it. They might half-ass it in the match until they get killed, but they might just stand under the hook until they're hooked again.
