  1. Completely agree that there should be something to discourage players to "hook dc". I don't know, even if they can't implement what you suggested, they could do stuff like allow one free unhook try, but you can't just start unhooking yourself immedietly, instead you can try to unhook self in like 30 seconds on it (it would also help with some people who use Deliverance when killer is still nearby).

Other idea I suggested them in a poll – just insta dc surv who went into second stage within like 10 second of hooking and replace them with a bot that has that 10-15 second on hook timer.

And killers dc as well, sometimes just to spite survivors (like killer sees survivors brought 4 bps so they wait 10 seconds in match and dc, just to waste all those offerings). They could literally replace dcing killer with training Trapper bot that just m1s, kicks and hooks, but for some reason they do not. Also, they can rage quit because chase takes too long or is frustrating – and that's where the hold to dc button would probably help.

  2. This is why I like Identity V. There's no disconnect button, and if the system detects that you're afk for too long it will replace you with a bot. In order to disconnect, you need to either turn the device off or close out the game.

Although, the penalty for disconnecting is a few morality points deducted and no 200 clues at th end of the week, idv has MUCH less disconnects.

It also could be because many people in the dbd playerbase are entitled and toxic, since those players are the ones disconnecting all the time… Also, idv just seems more fun? Holding W is NOT a viable strat and the characters have a large variety in play styles. Much more engaging, in my opinion.

  3. Also, a dc adjacent topic (maybe you could do a video about it, if you'd find it interesting). You could dc against a killer slugging a survivor to prevent hatch or out of spite. It was semi counter to exploitation of game mechanic. With bots, at least dcing to give hatch is no longer possible, which makes killers go wild in that (which is so frustrating if it happens).

I was hoping that the base kit UB would fix that, but it was a disaster of an idea. But maybe – game is already smart enough to recognize if someone can still try to unhook themself, why not let it check if any survivor is still standing and if not if any survivor can pick themself up, and if not then all downed players bleed out (but then, bleeding out punishes the killer points and pips, so I don't know what to do with that)?

And other idea, make it like a 1.5/2 minute timer that if neither survivor or killer interacts with you when you're downed, you can just hold a button to bleed out (which would definietly retain the bled out penalty for killer – so killer would likely have to down that person 2-3 times if they can't find last surv if they want to keep 4k) – that way it doesn't completely ruin "slug for 4k" strategy, but it should be enough to not force crows on hiding survivor and the downed player wouldn't have to feel miserable doing nothing for 4 minutes.

  4. I'll admit most of my hook suicides are still out of spite, either towards the killer or in rare cases my team. Changing DC penalties wouldn't change players like me, since my penalty hasn't been above 5min in years. No amount of penalties or incentives will make me want to give a 'proper match' when I hear a nurse screech and the following Ultimate Weapon screams. Denying them a proper game and being out of a miserable match asap is its own reward.

  5. I think the best way would be to give people a limit to the number of times you can dc in a day for no penalty. For example, if you can only dc 3 times in a day before you get a 15 min penalty, it would help in the cases where dc’ing is more needed, but not help the people who dc because the killer is playing killer, or their teammates went down in the first minute

  6. I do think to fix this kind of problem is to make an honor system. After every match everyone can honor someone for like 3 reasons like in League of Legends and the more honors you get the better rewards are at the end of the month or smth like this, and you get more lobbies with ppl who also have a lot of honors and ppl that sabotaging like killing on hook or DCing cant get honored and will get matched with players that do the same. ofc this requires a lot of work and testing but overall I do think an Honor system could mostly fix this problem and also could make the community more healthy since let's be honest the game is as toxic as LOL if not worse. I never heard so much complaining about your enemies play style/loadout

  7. I would rather there be a stacking bloodpoint penalty for disconnecting from a match early, after x disconnects in a shrine rotation you are incapable of earning bloodpoints until you complete x matches or the shrine resets. The idea is to make disconnects not punish players with matchmaking suspension and instead cripple their progression in a way that is temporary but also not easily avoidable, also maybe make a score event for completing a match that a player has dc'd from to reward people who see the match to completion.

  8. Ever since MMR was introduced, we have all been forced to play ranked (or KWF, but honestly who plays KWF for the majority of their playtime?). They deleted the casual playlist, but their ranked mode has none of the features other games' ranked modes have (K bans for S, Map bans for K). I have continuously advocated on the official forums for a ban system in ranked, or a casual playlist. Sadly neither option has been implemented, which means voicing my discontent is met with deafening silence. I can hard DC/Kobe every match with un-enjoyable mechanics, or uninstall. I uninstalled, but many people still only want to play the game for their own reasons, and DC/Kobe is their only logical recourse for avoiding these bad mechanics.

  9. Ok since nobody on here is a legit rage quitter here’s my perspective no matter if I wanna leave I will 10 seconds 10 minutes whatever look I can close my game or turn off my console at the same speed at which I quit out of the menu. Why do I quit? Usually bad teammates dying 10 seconds in. A annoying killer huntress nurse blight or because something extremely annoying happens that would be impossible to predict causing a death. If you make me earn less bp till a certaint amount of games are played I’d quit more often because I’d be like this match is for nothing why go thru this bs for nothing it ain’t fun and I can’t suffer through it for bps so I’m out

  10. Disabling the ability to unhook would absolutely make a difference. If someone gets unhooked and beelines towards the Killer in hopes they get killed, or goes AFK, or runs around the map throwing all the pallets, or does whatever else they can to try to sabotage the game as a result, those are reportable offenses and can (rightfully) prevent them from playing future games.

As it is right now, it is WAY too easy for Survivors to give up and "go next" the moment anything doesn't go their way, which ruins the chances of their teammates and all but ensures any decent Killer has a free win if it happens early enough in the game.

If the devs removed the easy way out, and issued proper consequences for those who didn't finish out games as intended, we'd see a significant decrease in 3v1s and a decline in the kinds of players who try to hold everyone else's fun hostage just because things aren't going exactly the way they want.

  11. I agree with you completely, except for the point on DCing against Chess Merchant.
There is a massive difference between someone liking or disliking a particular killer power, and something like Chess Merchant, which would extend matches for up to the maximum hour time limit. One is a preference, the other is so unimaginably egregious that I’d argue it is excusable. It isn’t even similar to a camping Leatherface, because you can counter it and self unhooking makes things worse. Chess Merchant is so far different from those situations that it is legitimately much less of a waste of time to DC and eat the 5 or even 10 minute penalty. It’s the only time I really see DCing as viable, because its comparable to keeping a game hostage.

  12. I don't like the idea of disconnecting just because you don't like the killer you're going against, I know that most Legion killers aren't fun to go against but one streamer I went against actually enjoyed when they went against me, since I don't do the whole…. everyone gets a stab repeatedly and nothing but that. I will stab a person but then use the speed of Frenzy to move up behind them and use the swing to get past them to block a window or pallet and because I "missed" my swing, I'm immediately out of the frenzy and cooling down. A lot of the time, they don't even realize what's happened until it's too late.

  13. Today, I got into a match with 2 people using no mither. In the beginning, the killer downed one of them and they DC… me and tapp were stuck with 2 no mither bots against a pinhead😕 we tried to help each other as much as possible but in the end, I got hatch via being spared by pinhead.

  14. If some of these killers were not so toxic and didn't tunnel they probably wouldn't end up with bots. Playing this game and watching the behavior of some individuals is rather disgusting. When I am left slugged and being humped on the ground by some sicko am I suppose to just take this for an entire match? Id rather give them a bot that will run them for 5 gens than deal with that bs. Rarely do I DC. But I have come across some pretty nasty people and question in my head what got on in their lives that would make them do the things they do. Even if its just a game. I am still a person on the other side.

  15. Just delete the "koby" mechanic. Thats it. Why is this in the game in the first place? For what? To have a chance to escape when everyone is dying? Wow, a chance to extend the game for the killer for another 1 minute before he hooks you again. It’s annoying when people on the hook try to jump off 1-2 times when I run to them to take them off. Why are they doing that? To jump off the hook and not give me points for saving? Well, now heal yourself. Sometimes I don't even unhook people after such moves. In short, to make DBD more normal, they need to remove "koby" and map oferings. This won't solve all problems, but it will be a good start.

  16. I think a lot of what you mentioned here was a really good starting point and tweaks/adjustments can be considered afterwards.

Making the props feature actually do something is an idea I and many others have had for a while

  17. The DC penalty shouldn't be a thing. No one should be forced to stay in a match they don't want to be in, Killer or Survivor. Not to mention that getting disconnected from the servers is fairly common. I play games to have fun, it's not a job and shouldn't be treated like one.

  18. With the presence of replacement bots, the DC penalty doesnt really need to be around anymore. Take away the punishment, reward people who don't dc. This creates a positive feedback loop instead of a negative one and will eventually cause DCs to decline altogether if the reward is decent enough. People wouldnt DC as often if the servers were halfway decent or if there werent crazy balance problems in both directions

  19. I agree on all of your points on the matter! I came up with my own Concept for what could be done.

A Blood point bonuses and a blood point Cap could also be used to Limit disconnects, so say for the Rewards if you show good sportsmen ship by being complemented by other players, or you earn a Certain amount of blood points over a series of Matches (signifying Active participation in Matches). You gain a temporary modifier for a Small 5 -10% bonus to blood-points earned in Matches for all categories, and maybe a Slight increase to the amount of Shards you Receive for leveling up your player level in game for 1 Hour. Players could only have one of these active or in their inventory at one time.

However should a player be disconnecting at a consistent rate in a certain amount of time, say for this argument in a 1-2 hour period, or after you D.C to many times in one day or be reported with the Updated Report system we are supposed to get later, and you are found guilty by the devs for Unsporting ship Behavior.

The Guilty survivors Name will be then be highlighted in purple. "The Entity" will then "impose" a temporary Blood point Cap on the Guilty Survivor, Reducing the Amount of Blood-points they are Able to Earn in Matches for a Certain Amount of time ( say 2 Hours, Roughly if every match lasts about 15 minutes then the Cap will stay for about Roughly 8 Matches give or take). To prevent players from just turning the Game off and Waiting the penalty out like a Match making Ban, the Timer only goes down while the Game is running. The penalty will not increase with each subsequent disconnect afterwards but the Blood Point Cap Timer will Pause if you are currently waiting out a Match making ban.

its just an Idea, But Rewarding Survivors with a Boost to blood points for good Behavior and punishing the ones who disconnect intentionally for any reason reason, excluding the players that are disconnected for reasons beyond their control.

  20. I am definitely on the side of don't remove the penalty as things currently stand. I think having no penalty would just encourage the crappy DCing bevhior. However, I think you have lots of great ideas for better ways to encourage players to stay in the game. I would be all for pretty much all the things mentioned near the end of the video – bonuses for good behavior, grouping people who are chronic disconnectors, taking longer to DC and showing the penalty while doing so, earning karma, etc. It's a great mix of penalty but also incentives to stick around and be a better part of the player community.

I hope BHVR is seeing this because I think it could make things better in terms of DCing. They will never 100% get rid of it, but I think those ideas could significantly reduce the issue.

  21. considering all the pros and cons of the dc penalty, i am in favor of it, dbd is not a game id call stable or designed in a way that its never fair for you to disconnect, maybe if the game was better designed and structured… anyhow, i can see why valorant, league of legends, cs go or other competitive games have a dc penalty, but dbd is simply NOT in the standard these games reach to deserve generic competitive penalties.
