This game isn’t really designed to be played for multiple hours every day. Every game ever made gets boring if you play it incessantly. Most people playing a reasonable amount of time each day/week likely doesn’t feel this way.
Something i di if the game feels repetitive is i usually swap to killer. I play survivor a ton and its easily the most repetitive thing ever especially becuz all i do is get chased and die. Yea i can get some fun plays or get unexpected stuff to happen, but at the end of the day, its still very repetitive. But for killer, its always fun becuz theres over 30 to choose from with different speeds, different play styles, and different powers which gives tons of variety
yea when i used to play 12+ hours a day i literally couldnt get enough dbd. now? i need more stimulation. i have way more fun on dbd when i am switching between around 2-3 other games as well. cant play 12+hours now. it's too much of the same.
I call it Brain dead
Havent played dbd since shadow of the erdtree
ever thought of minecraft?
For me, what sold DBD to me was its variation and diversity in Content. So many killers and so many survivors back in 2021 alredy, and it has become MUCH more since. Many maps and all that, diffrent playstyles. That was the thing for me that never made it boring. And i enjoyed hunting tome challenges while i still had them locked on my old account.
But as for everyone, there comes a point where my mmr was high enough so i would be in the same Meta-perk, meta-killer, meta-playstyles mmr bracket as majority of people. I even am probably above average and i do actually fall totally under the 60% killrate 40% escape rate that BHVR wants to have, these are the litteral numbers from my own games. On average i make 2 sacrifices with every killer every round, no matter what. And as survivor i escape now and then, fairly often for the fact that there is 4 of us and not anyone is gonna survive. I COULD be pleased, right? Like that was all i wanted when i had to learn to adapt to the better players than me, fair, equal games.
But they dont have alot of variation, so i made a second account and i cant tell yall how much joy it brings to me, facing killers as a survivor i almost never saw. Yes you can say smurf account, and i agree to an extent. But im not playing on that acc to stomp people, i will deliberatly make sure my escapes and 3+ sacrifices are way lower than "losses" where i either get no sacrifices or get sacrificed myself. Its just that im bored, im bored seeing the same shit everytime. And new players play in various diffrent ways, sure majority of the time they do mistakes, which is why i try to hold back when playing against them.. But its so refreshing just seeing so much diversity in characters and playstyles again. Only thing i wish would be selfcare reworked, because its such a trap for newer players, even more so than when i was new myself, at least back then selfcare wasnt slow af.
So yeah, if you feel bored but still kinda want to play DBD, try a new account. Its also kinda bhvrs fault with their sticking to the MMR system, which is the reason why everything becomes so redundant because you always see the people in your bracket.
Edit: The feeling of being "trapped" is the reason why im starting my youtube channel much more open, i do "gaming" in general which sure has been done alot and is a harder market than finding a niche but i avoid my passion becoming an erand that way. ofc i understand your situation kaiser and i hope you find ways to loosen it up a bit. Im sure there are many people watching you because of you and not dead by daylight, these people would remain even if you switch completely to something else.
Im currently like that right now the game doesn’t feel boring at all but i don’t know what it is but I’ve been zoning out a ton as well for some odd reason its probably cause I’m enjoying my other two main games but i still love dbd but its been happening a bit with other games as well.
You’re not alone with that sentiment. I began playing in 2021, when Nemesis released. I like the RE games, so having the option to play as my favorite bio weapon was a no brainer.
And for a few years, I put an embarrassingly large amount of hours into the game. The thrill of hunting and being hunted was a much needed dopamine hit… until it wasn’t.
With every tome done. All rifts collected. All trophies completed…. I found myself staring at the menu and frowning because there really isn’t anything else to do. This is a very repetitive game. And yes, there are modes, but even then, that fails to immerse measurable it did 3 years ago. Today, I’ll log in, check the dailies, sigh because they are always the same, and close the application.
And I don’t even stream. I can’t imagine someone playing this all day every day for a living (actually, I can- a friend used to do that and, to nobody’s surprise, she got burned out.)
I would personally, enjoy watching you cover any other game, film, etc.
A hag video!? I am excited. Count me in.
I totally feel this, when the chaos mode was out I was playing a lot more, every match felt like fresh air, every game wasn’t OTR, DH, or pain res pop, I think they need to either have that mode be perma or have a option to randomize loadout with or without a BP bonus for doing it. My point ultimately is the chaos mode was such a breath of fresh air and that’s all I played, and how much the community played it, I think 50+ million ques that speaks volumes
I have gotten that feeling so sometime I will play a different game or just stay off games for a day. I love watching your video keep up the great work 🙂
The game got so boring for me that ever time i get bored of playing a killer i have to buy a new killer i only have 2 killer's and 4 survivor i haven't got yet
I think this problem could be easily fixed by adding different objectives for the survivors. If survivors had a pool of different objectives to achieve to escape the trial.
So right now we have the gen objective that powers exit gates. Add a few more and then have the game randomly pick what objectives they are doing.
The survivors get a message saying what the objective is. Or some other type of indicator. The killer will know because of their aura reading on the objective that it is might be a different objective.
It changes the game up a bit, changing the strategies given the different objectives. Killers get to do something different from patrolling gens. And survivors, if Behavior is willing to break out of the mold, get a break from boring skill checks.
Like maybe one could be a component scavenger hunt to repair the gates. Survivors find the parts scattered around the map. Then have to take the parts to different power houses. Once ALL power houses are fixed the gates open (don't need the charge up).
Or an outlast the killer, objective. This one is trickier because it I can see toxic play taking hold of this but if you don't know what objective you will have it is hard to prep for it. The idea being that the survivors have to survivor for a set time the gates then open or become charged and the survivors can escape.
Oh and completely separate from the above. I would love to see what would happen to game play if survivors were first person as well. I feel like it would up the tension in a good way. Make the game scarier.
I understand where your coming from Kaiser, I used to be able to play the game for hours on end without getting bored but nowadays after around 3000 hours of playtime, the game gets stale for me quite quickly now and at most I might play either role for maybe an hour or two at most and then hop off. The game is still fun, it just feels less fulfilling now more than ever…
I've been thinking the game should have rotating perk bans to make matches more diverse and interesting. With the perks weighted based on pick rates.
Honestly Kaiser it sounds like you’re coming to the end of the hyper fixation period of ADHD with a game, I go through this all the time with games, and hobbies in general actually.
I feel the nature of the competitive mind set the game as whole has taken has lead to less of those stimulating moments of WTF 😅! The way the game has been balanced , poor match making, and toxic play styles all for the “win”. Killers who play fun builds get shit on and gen rushed. So it lead to the camping, tunneling, slugging play styles you have now. And survivors have to be so efficient now because most games are 3v1 anymore. So they rush gens. And this cycle just keeps repeating until no one is having a good time anymore except these “pro” gamers. Like the average joe blow coming home from his 9-5 doesn’t want to play this sweaty crap
Good stuff for being honest about your situation and how you feeling. 👌 I have adhd too and over the years I would get fixated on a game and no life it until I jumped on the next game. Now that I'm in my 30s I realized that I tend to come back to the same games like DBD. I then put those on my roster and rotate them in and out of my gaming time and it keeps things feeling fresh for me. Keep up the good work. Love the content
It doesn't matter how much you love pizza if you eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner it's gonna get stale, you may still like it with different killers- I mean toppings it's still pizza, but it's hard to be excited about it everyday after awhile.
Thjis happens alot with people who make one game there content…I've seen it with league of legends and minecraft as two examples. If I can offer a suggestion, try making content that's dead by daylight or horror adjustment from time to time. Try talking about horror games or movies that are already in dbd. That sounds like a good place to start.
take my opinion, I think its because you feel presured to give good gameplay and good commentary and too much effort/really good videos to pay bills, and live off a wage, if you didnt im sure that if you did not have to, you would have more fun after the few hours
I love dead by daylight
That bit about job hunting is too real. Been out of full-time work for… too long.
It feels like I'm never gonna have a job again.
This is a sign that BHVR needs to do something different with DBD because we’ve just been doing gens since 2016 they need to add something different beside just doing gens all the time and hooking survivors the game is far too repetitive and very annoying especially when playing killer
Appreciate the honesty, and you hit the nail on the head when talking about how it’s not meant to be played for several hours a day. It makes sense in a way because your dopamine system is probably completely depleted.
If have a full day off work and I decide to start playing dbd in the day, I end up playing all day all the way through to the night and I pretty much always feel rough afterwards. So having it as your job I can absolutely understand why you would feel like this.
