The Stranger Things Chapter: A Dead by Daylight Retrospective

Hey everyone, today we’re going to talk about the Stranger Things chapter, or chapter thirteen. This chapter I would argue was the most important in Dead by Daylight’s history. Second only to maybe the Halloween chapter, which brought along the first license. This chapter to the best of my knowledge brought along the biggest influx of new players. Licenses are clearly a big pull for Dead by Daylight, but this was a bit different because it was a license that was currently extremely relevant. The most recent license really prior to Stranger Things was Saw, which is early 2000’s, and so this was a big deal. A currently airing, and incredibly popular show, and it was coming to Dead by Daylight. Even thinking about it now, that’s pretty crazy. In many ways I’d like to think Stranger Things joining the game, potentially made other unlikely licenses prior, like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, a lot more likely. So, regardless of what you thought about this chapter, I think its undeniably Dead by Daylight’s most important entry for the sheer number of new eyes it brought to the game.

Chapter 22 has been released on the 5.4.0 PTB. With this chapter we have a new killer, The Artist, a new survivor, Jonah Vasquez, and a new map, Eyrie of Crows, part of the new Forsaken Boneyard realm. It looks great, and I’m very excited!

  2. The Stranger Things chapter was the only licensed chapter I was ever interested in(and my favorit chapter btw). I've been Steve-Main since it came out (Btw, Steve was chosen for the chapter because he's one of the most popular characters).
    I'm sad and pissed that the characters never get Cosmetics again, that they unnamed the Perks and the Map disappears 🙁

  3. Steve is my favorite survivor and this map was my second favorite! My friends and I love the indoor maps, they feel cozier and imo scarier because it's harder to discern where the killer is. We also liked playing Hide and Seek games in it on customs. I am hopeful for more indoor maps in the future, I will really miss this one!

  4. 2:52 The choice to have it be Nancy and Steve instead of Nancy and Johnathan is telling.
    Steve's just had consistently more interesting character development over the course of the show while Johnathan has sort of petered out. Most interesting during season 1, lost me midway season 2, and nothing to contribute during 3. This is true of both Byers brothers, pretty much. Steve conversely just gets better and better the more we learn about him.

  5. I may not be as in love with Stranger Things as other people, but in regards to bringing a licensed property to life, DBD did the show justice with the mysterious, yet overcoming aura that the DLC provided. It will also forever stand as the first sci-fi chapter in the game. If we ever get Alien, the Thing, Cloverfield, or something similar, we have Stranger Things to thank for it. R.I.P

  6. Mabey this entire thing of this chapter leaving is just a troll and we will get the cop as a new survivor and another map. (Mabey a new killer but I have no ideas who it can be) probably not, but hopefully yes

  7. RIP Stranger Things chapter, not only is Demo still my fave killer to run/verse, but we'll be losing one of the best maps for Jumpscare Myers ;-;
    You will be remembered, even though i've never watched a second of ST.

  8. I remember when i see a publication in Facebook or something like that about a game bringing a Stranger things chapter, i tried that game and actually loved, i purchased Steve and the Demogorgon. Lovely stuff, then they added Jonathan as a legendary skin, eveithing was perfect and then… Stranger things is going out of DBD. That really hurt me. Godbye Stranger things chapter.

  9. I don't have the means to get the game, so also couldn't get anything from Stranger Things.
    I at least have the Demogorgon on mobile, still, I wish I could have gotten him on pc because once I can get the game I would have loved to play him
