The term "rework" has lost all meaning. | Dead by Daylight

The term rework is a label that the Dead by Daylight community throws around a lot, and unfortunately it has lost absolutely all meaning and is used to define things that are not reworks. The community keeps asking for a legion, trapper, pig rework, but because the term has lost all meaning, I don’t think the community knows what they’re asking for. Let’s discuss what a rework even is.

  1. The devs for add on changes, call them add on passes. So u think that changes made to killers powers that don’t completely rework the power, but add/alter mechanics should be called power pass.

  2. I miss old freddy, he was my main, can we at least have an option to play as him? Like a toggle switch in the menu? He was so much more fun and underrated, people just didn't know how to play him, he needed to be used in a fundamentally altered way

  3. I agree with your assessment. The term "rework" is an accurate description of the Freddy change. His power was revamped, top to bottom, and I think the only thing they reused were some of the animations (his hand animations and the bleeding gens).

The Doctor changes, I think, were fundamental enough to warrant calling them a rework. It changed how he played, and while he had fundamentally the same ability, you could use it much more freely as a chasing tool, and the static blast was a new, welcome addition to his kit (rather than the old passive buildup, which was antiquated by that point).

After that, the community started referring to every killer change as a rework, which was reinforced when Nurse, Bubba and Billy received changes. Bubba got some significant changes, but they didn't change him too much. They just gave his power more depth and lethality, while adding the rev tantrum to stop facecamping. Billy just got his add-ons destroyed and an additional mechanic added on top. I would argue that neither of these qualify as a "RE-work", as nothing from their original kits was dismantled.

It's unfortunate that all killer changes are now branded as "reworks", as it waters down what a rework should truly mean. We should reserve the term "rework" for a true change to the power of a killer.

    Freddy, Doctor = rework

Nurse tokens, Bubba's chainsaw charges, Billy's overheat, Clown's yellow bottles = significant changes

Everything else, including Wraith speed buffs and the most recent Trickster changes = run of the mill balance changes/buffs/nerfs

Pig, Trapper = need SOMETHING, devs pls

  4. I'm honestly getting sick of this game and the devs I went from rank 7 to rank 10 because of tunneling and I wish we had the old decisive back because this game is ridiculous

  5. Hey Tat, I just wanna know is your opinion on the new trickster the same or do you think he's not bad to go up against? You compared him to old legion and I wasn't there to witness the pain of old legion, but I think I understand what you mean when you say, you're just waiting there to die or it doesn't matter what you do against him, you're bound to go down against him eventually.

  6. I definition of Rework that makes sense to me: a deliberate change by the devs that adjust or swap the base atrabutes of a killer or power that require an additional adjustment with add-on changes
