Hey everyone, today we’re looking through the strangest nerfs in Dead by Daylight history. These are things that just left me confused when they happened, they aren’t all directly bad, it’s a combination of being stunned, being unhappy, and just kind of being generally confused by the decision. There’s a range of things in here, so I’m interested to see what you all think.

  1. The flashlight nerf is completely fine. I’ve not had a problem using them to blind killers or get saves since the nerf. Now you can no longer spam click your flashlight to annoy killers. I see that as a win.

  2. Sorry if im misunderstanding some of these comments but people being able to play without health problems is a bit more important than you being able to spam click flashlights xdd

  3. The Generator nerf is not a bad nerf, as survivor I barely notice the difference, whilst on killer it allows me to get a lot more pressure with lower tier killers. (without using slowdown perks)

  4. Honestly, Freddy's rework really irritated me. I wasn't able to play DBD around the time they reworked him because I didn't have a way to play, but when I came back I found a killer I mildly liked playing was just useless. I don't think they will rework him because nobody really plays him anymore, but maybe I'm wrong and they will. I hope so because as much as I love Wesker, I liked mildly annoying survivors with Freddy.

  5. Seems like some of these nerfs were quickly thrown into the patches to temporarily remove large issues in the game and work on them in the future. For me, this has made gameplay very boring now, and I am playing this game less frequently than I ever had.

  6. It feels like in the early days the devs had a vague idea of the route they wanted to take in terms of lore, sprinkling bits of Vigo and the realm outside of the trials throughout the game and completely did a 180 when the archives released. I actually prefer the Benedict Baker flavour text as opposed to most of the archives.

  7. Maybe who ever worked the Benedict Baker quotes stopped working for BHVR and who ever they assigned to create the quotes after the person who quit isn't as good as the original writer.

  8. A nerf I remember was the Blast Mine Repressed Alliance combo. It used to only apply the blast mine itself allowing you to save Repressed for when the killer kicked the gen, but now they are both applied at the same time, making it not synergize as well

  9. The new breakable walls have a lot of clipping
Normally you couldn’t see it because non breakable walls are in the way. But with aura reading like windows of opportunity it looks REALLY bad

  10. I personally have seen one person escape hatch with key when I was playing pig, I was patrolling the exits and saw her stand up while trying to open it and when I saw what she was doing I just let them leave since keys are pretty rare and they played well

  11. I don't really have a problem with gen speed but I know the reason they didn't wasn't so killers would use less slowdown. Look at all the perks they have released since. It was so they could add more and stronger gen rush perks lol

  12. I know it’s a only a perk nerf but the blast mine nurf for me was really unnecessary. Blast mine never bothered me as killer and now as survivor it never even feels fun to use anyone. This is just my opinion tho.

  13. i dont understand why the hatch exists at all tbh,its really unfair for the killer. you do everything you can to put yourself in a winning position then you need to win a game of basically a 50/50 coinflip, and its even worse if they have perks to help them find it. also i think the gen nerf was made purely because it was too easy to repair them and overall survivors needed a nerf

  14. I completly agree with the Hatch/Key bit.
There's literally no point in keys. Wallhacks?? Okay sure, but that's weird and should be usable with a map over a key.
I had no problem with anyone knowing where hatch spawned. I thought it made for cool and funny plays on both sides.
Killers could see it and know exactly where to go when they had someone on hook with 1 survivor left. If everyone was slugged in end game, it made for a crawl race, and honestly who was ever ACTUALLY taking their full team and escaping out of the hatch halfway through the match??? like??? That just didn't happen save for a good meme once in a blue moon.

  15. I want to give a little more information about the Hillbilly rework.
    1. Hillbilly’s add-ones we’re definitely useful before but are all now literal “add-ons”. They can be useful but situational
    2. Hillbilly’s curve was changed to have better techs and not be able to easily flick kill survivors. This ultimately made Hillbilly hard on console and just in general
    3. Despite being considered the most balanced killer, Hillbilly was still a top 3 killer so the devs felt like he was going to be the easiest to tackle. His nerf was more of a way to force a fall from grace than remove crack billy and Insta saw

  16. Freddy was pretty unique and interesting in the release, and his power fits better for the character… He was weak, yes, but i think weak is better than boring… Freddy players can fall asleep too during the match
