Are There Any Truly Major Licenses Left for DBD?

Dead by Daylight has added icons like Michael Myers, Ash Williams, and numerous Resident Evil characters over the years, but after the somewhat muted response to the Alien chapter, I feel like it’s fair to ask: are there any licenses left that would truly shake the fanbase? There’s room for debate one way or the other, so let’s talk about it.

  1. I think you are definitely only thinking of horror slashers that can come to the game. They can still go into different genres like Anime and even other game IPs. Like we dont have to just think of horror specifically but any character in media that can be considered a killer would work. Like IPs like The Walking Dead and The Last of Us could work. Games like Outlast and Until Dawn could work. And even though I'm not big on anime, they definitely missed an opportunity to have a awesome killer from a show like Attack on Titan. It was hype just for the skins imagine if they actually brought playable characters into the game from the anime instead of cosplays. But yes they could make the biggest horror IP of all time, which I think would be Jaws, if the gameplay is trash or uninteresting the chapter will flop. And i think the gameplay of newly added IPs is why the game isn't getting bigger.

  2. i honestly dont think it depends as much on who but how the develpers treat them you can tell alot more love went into chucky than into alien or into some others because its what the developers love but i think all they need is a few fresh minds in their team to help get a little more creative with refrences to new and old

  3. FNAF got popular because of streamers and their reactions. Not because of the games quality, it was a mid af game with a mid af jump scare gameplay style. But the bad guys looked cool.

  4. Some characters they could totally add:
Red/Leader of the Tethered – Us
    Carrie White – Carrie
Jason, Predator, Pennywise, Candyman (mentioned in video)
    Norman Bates – Psycho
Art the Clown – Terrifer franchise

  5. You know what? I completely agree with you. Especially about the zoomer and alpha market. Newer stuff is more appealing to them because they grew up with it. I think FNAF is definitely on the table, maybe within the year. Sure I’d love to see the other licenses like Candyman or Pennywise, but I think FNAF is the real money maker here.

  6. I think they should make dbd free, especially with all the new killers, the battlepasa, and the expensive cosmetics. It would bring a ton of new players in, and they wouldn't be losing much money.

  7. Springtrap, Jason, Pennywise, Candyman are a few that come to mind, bhvr could also try to expand their current licenses like elm street and ghost face with some cosmetics for freddy or new survivors like sid prescott

  8. I know they’re similar, but either a Terminator or Cylon from BSG would be cool.
Slender man. X-files pack with an alien and sully/mulder skin. Candyman. The list goes on.

  9. Personally I think FNaF would be really healthy for the game, I know a lot of people say, “but kids will come into the game and ruin it.” A majority of the player base is either already children or millennials getting home from a long day at work, hell it doesn’t even have to be millennials since zoomers as early as 2008 work now(obviously doesn’t apply to all). FNaF, I believe would genuinely be the next Stranger Things or Resident Evil chapter as those were when player bases peaked.

  10. Only Jason now can keep the kype for licenses, any other, like Candyman is good but after Chucky everything change, the game needs Jason now, more than never, without him, any other name will cause frustrate hype

  11. I think the grabber from black phone could work, hes not supernatural but i could see him being a "prop" killer like freddy and sadako with phones around the map ringing that you have to answer, maybe hes perma stealthed until you answer a ringing phone and then once you do it reveals his position to you and he sees your position

  12. Gotta say, I completely disagree with your point about Alien being more relevant than Chucky for gen Z. Alien was massively influential, but its presence is more of historic importance than something new to appreciate, which to younger audiences makes it look more generic. Chucky was surprisingly progressive and ridiculous for its time, and was initially dismissed for that reason. Now, it's had a resurgence in popularity thanks to the show and how much it stands out compared to any other horror franchise. It's not even a debate, to Gen Z, Chucky is the exact kind of chapter they would be interested in, even factoring in how any strong killer on release will be decently popular.

  13. I agree with you that FNAF would move the needle if done in a cool way. I also believe a Scooby Doo chapter with a playable Scooby and Shaggy would as well. The Thing also would if that means they finally add being able to play survivor as killer. But we also that wouldnt work with SWFs.

  14. Genuinely dbd needs a competitive mode seperate for the ganeplay and get leagues. Its an asymetric horror game that keeps trying to do tournaments but cannot figure out how to do a proper tournament so it cannot get sponsors. It dominates the asymetric horror area there comes a point where it is tapped out for growth, it doesnt have many new customers left. It has the people who left the game and the people who havent tried a game like it left for "new players" left and so the other area to grow would be through sponsoring tournaments and creating a game mode that takes it to a more balamced place with an ability to cover it properly and maje it an esport would let us the casual player base get more modes more content more often which will help prevent the burnout everyone has been experiencing. Texas chainsaw massacre dragged everyone away and not everyone came back because playing that other game made a lot of people realize hey i havent been having as much fun for awhile now but i dont have anything else to fill this gap
