Scott Jund posted a video titled “Ringu Chapter Will be a Flop – Dead by Daylight” in January, DOWSEY posted one the other day in response, this is my response to the response of the original video.
DOWSEYS Video doesn’t really talk about anything to do with the Chapter and neither do I.
Cheers.

More about Dead By Daylight:
A group of up to four survivors must elude one killer. The survivors’ perspectives are third-person, while the killer’s perspective is first-person. The survivors cannot fight against the killer and can only survive by running away and evading them. They must use obstacles in the form of wooden pallets, windows, and items that they either find inside chests or bring before the match starts to run from the killer for as long as they can. In order to escape, survivors must repair 5 generators scattered across the entire map to power the exit gates, then they must open the exit gates and leave the area themselves or find a hatch to jump into.

Yeah there's only Xbox PlayStation switch phones like literally dead by Daylights on everything not to mention it's cross-play
You're skills don't mean anything if u don't get 2 kills
Idk I came up with a trial system its works I love it its so funny
Man he found something that fans like and he milking it, every video title has something in it now lol, and people are starting to copy that and dbd YouTubers are becoming even more annoying now just crapping on a game they voluntarily play lol
I rarely play other PC players. So plenty of console players are on 😂😂 I think someone is salty they lost some twitch shirts
I think saying "mmr is the problem" is just a more concise way of summing up the issues. The problems were there before mmr, mmr just brought them to the surface.
I am playing dbd for already 4 months and apparently i'm blind for all the stuff people complain about. Maybe because i like the game so much who knows. The only thing I would consider being bad is the matchmaking system that's it.
The entire playerbase is becoming closer together in skill, the tutorial itself gets you ready to hold that m1 on gens and gives you basic looping knowledge, there is a lot of information out there for people to pick up and start playing without wondering what they are supposed to do.
Killers have good hearts but it just does not work in this game it never has as a killer you want to get 4k as survivor you want to escape, that's just how it is otherwise what is the reason to play? to act like you're some scary slasher when nobody is afraid of you? and to be honest survivors can blame it on themselves for finding and abusing every little thing they can but when killers camp or tunnel, oh my.
As a killer main, games are either too easy, or far too hard. I am a average middle of the road killer and I get mismatched with teams a lot.
Also I am starting to notice the cheaters more.
World of warcraft was similar. Huge spike in wrath and its been lower ever since.
But the game hasnt been worse. There have been tons of improvements. Some xpacs were shittier than others. But overall its been a better game but never peaked.
Regarding the fact that players have been getting better: I joined DBD in January 2020, a week after the Oni mid-chapter came out, and it feels like I witnessed the beginning of a turning point for DBD, with the Ruin change (the old version of which I never got to experience), toolbox changes (Deathslinger), map balance changes (Deathslinger mid-chapter), the rise of anti-loop killers (Silent Hill), map visual reworks (Blight), etc. Overall, it seems BHVR has given killers quite a lot of quality of life changes and buffs, but the game often feels survivor-sided if the killer doesn't play ruthlessly (tunneling, camping, etc.), which in turn sometimes also makes it a lot more unfair for survivor (solo-queue, which I play exclusively) if they don't bring an OP build or just out of pure bad luck. One thing I still don't understand is why now? Why are these fundamental balance problems only getting significant recognition now? Why weren't survivors a couple of years ago much more efficient on gens when they were even more powerful? I find it hard to believe that it's because of SBMM, since your MMR is hidden. At least before with ranks you could see everyone's rating.
The reason why this game is dying is because of boons…I understand your statement that its something we have to get used to but they kinda break the game. as killer health states are everything and if Survivors can heal at the speed of light its hard to win specially when the game is already unbalanced towards survivor. If your going to give Survivors more powerful stuff to survive but not return the favor to killers how is that balanced? Thats why this game is dying, because killer is becoming weaker and survivor just becomes more powerful.
Honestly, I've felt this way for awhile. The people I hear complaining the most are the high-rank killers and survivors who are upset that their MMR is super high, therefore going up against tougher opponents where they'll have to work harder to win. Do I feel MMR is perfect? No, it's still rough and frustrating. I do however feel it's coming down to people being upset that they can't win as easy as they used to, on both sides.
I have to disagree, Dead by daylight is dying because of MMR, Devs being entitled and not listening to their fan base and hacker/cheater issues. Simple no more needs to be said.
I personally think they are correct. DBD has always been most widely played on steam (or so that's what's most likely), and although they're above the numbers they were at previously, there's no arguing that we're seeing a very significant decrease in the playerbase that isn't natural and more so being caused by something. SBMM has been shown to work against new players and old players alike, so it's no surprise to me that that's what's assumed to be the reason for the downtrend. Honestly, I get that there's other variables but none of them are made publicly available outside of steam charts, and this has always been a pretty good indicator of the state of the game (imo). So yes, they are definitely correct, and I hope the devs see their videos and consider either tuning or completely removing SBMM, cause otherwise it may be a while till we see some sort of significant uptrend in players.
I heavily disagree with this one, there isn't anything necessarily wrong with tunneling/camping but to justify it as skill because of poor game balance is a no from me. The point "older" killers are trying to make is not that the games are harder to win nowadays, its that no one wanted sbmm. The devs made a past claim that they didn't balance this game for skill but for fun, do you think that coincides with the concept of sbmm? I don't think the majority of players that want to play for skill will enjoy a game that makes you sit on a generator and hold m1 as efficiently as possible across the map while a killer camps and tunnels one player out of the game entertaining at all. Its a reason why the competitive scene never got big because the game wasn't created for it.
I wouldnt have much of a problem with getting harder and harder games if most of the perks werent locked behind paid killers or behind the fountain rng.
When youre relatively new to the game and youre about 6 years behind the grind (perks.items.add-ons), SBMM makes this game unenjoyable after a while.
Just wish we had a choice into playing SBMM games and casual ones
Well, I have either stupidly easy games or stupidly hard games. I'm just a casual player, who wants to enjoy some matches after work. In my worst times I got like 1 hour of DBD in two weeks in. So I'm not very good at killer. And I know that, and I have regulated expectations for my matches because of it. Yesterday for example I had this one super strong survivor team that completely crushed me on a corn map, because I can't see fucking shit. And then I got another relatively hard match, and then suddenly I was back to baby survivors that I could completely demolish, like what?
As for the Ring Chapter. I had no expectations for it, I did not care for The Ring, I only saw this US-Remake once and … I didn't like it too much. So I was like, yeah, whatever. But Sadako is since Nemy one of the killers I have fun with. (I'm currently playing her, Nemy, Doctor and occasionally Huntress.) So yeah, I'm slowly getting back into DBD.
I mainly feel that the majority of people who have left the game are mostly killer mains and or they've started playing survivor instead because in my opinion it gets harder and harder to play killer with all of the meta perks in the game to deal with.
Great to hear someone not blaming sbmm for everything! I think a lot of the complaints come in because a lot of the larger creators want to meme around in the game but still expect to win at the same time.
Ok so what's the deal with the sudden focus shift onto dowsey? He hasn't done anything crazy after his fallout with the devs
As a survivor main, my ONLY issue currently with the game is tunneling killers. Whenever I play these days it seems to be every single match to the point where I can’t use any fun perks and always have to use the “meta” builds. I get that the killer probably got their ass handed to them by a really good swf the game before and they’re probably in a bad mood, but it has made the game unplayable for me unless I’m with a swf. Just my perspective though as someone who mainly plays survivor and liked to solo que every now and then
I feel like you really need to rewatch the video bro.
The last video you made on Dowsey was just, completely against anything he's ever said.
As you are here; he even made it clear he was joking about going on only the steam charts, making it clear he was aware of console's and their players being unaccountable.
He never really said it's killing DBD either, he was simply trying to address Scott Jund and his very open opinion about how he thought the update would turnout, whether or not he was right and of course, laying out his foundation of what he pictures as a 'flop'. And it was also based on confronting the Twitter dilemma where someone had something to say about Scott Jund and he just found it ridiculous because the guy never watched Scott's vid clearly.
I'm a big fan of you and your content bro and I will be for a long long time, but brother I gotta ask; did you just lazily/half-assed your assessment of their videos? To me it seems like you're pulling points out of thin air… Or is this just you trying to get in on the conversation for content and conversation sake?
Just some honest questions from someone likes your videos and wants to know the direction you'll be going in, at least with your Youtube videos. All the love, big-man.
One last comment just because I'm passionate about this game, I want to make it clear that I don't hate DBD. I'm not anti-DBD, I'm not rooting for it to fail. It doesn't make me happy when the devs say stupid things on livestreams and enrage the community. I WANT DBD to succeed. I want the playerbase to be happy, both sides not just killer (my main role). I just can't force positivity and optimism, that just is not something I am capable of doing.
The 1 role in a 1V4 game is going to be more stressful. That's just the nature of asym games. The problem is playing killer can sometimes be too stress inducing for it's own good. Yes competitive matches are great but not everyone wants that all the time. The problem is mmr was FORCED on us as a community. No one asked for it. Like a lot of BHVR's changes they just do things without considering the ramifications or they will host a PTB for changes and ignore the community pointing out the problem with a change.
The main dislike I've had for years playing killer is the matches where gens fly. This has been present in the game since the beginning, however the matches were few and far between before SBMM. Now those matches are a regular occurrence and they suck the fun out of playing killer. Now since the change I've gone from playing regularly to playing a match once a week, remembering the games still zero fun and going back to playing another game. The only reason I still attempt to play this game is because of the amount of time and money I've put into it.
I agree that you shouldn't go completely off of the steam charts to show the general playerbase but to say that those numbers are pointless and don't mean/show anything is dumb
Honestly I'm totally fine with people bitching dbd older player or new however I don't like these people not realising without dbd they didn't have a platform or an audience and now game is in bit of bad state not terrible I will happily grind the game its like the 'in fashion' to bash i compare it to John Cena in WWE people hated him cause it was the 'in fashion' but when he was gone everyone missed him and I bet if dbd left tomorrow people would miss it
Honestly, MMR just seems like an excuse at this point. Was it the greatest thing DBD ever added, probably not. But as someone who played the game for years before MMR came out and has been playing ever since it came out, I really can't say that it changed much. High MMR (or what I think is High MMR) just feels like Red Ranks, maybe with a little more sweaty games. There are issues with the game, and MMR could use some adjustments, but I don't believe MMR is the big evil thing it seems a lot of people think it is.
The games being hard and over all challenging isn't my issue, I have trouble with people using a VPN to get onto our servers which causes the games to crash or be very laggy for everyone that isn't using a VPN. Another thing is that I still think sbmm needs to be worked on since a few days ago my swf got someone who only had around 20 minutes on their account, and didn't know there are perks he can choose.
Why does Dowsey play the game anymore.?. It makes him look really bad and entitled still playing this game with all the shit he talks about it smh.. He really needs to stop playing the game and spreading around all his negativity.. He even mocked the way one of the devs looked in one of his videos. He needs to find a game he enjoys and stop playing a game he hates its not good for anyone.
Dbd may have just peaked in the casual player base and a lot of those people were always going to move on regardless. Most of the strong loyal players will always play off and on. These numbers don’t mean much in my opinion.
I don't understand how people are against SBMM
Getting paired with people on your skill level is like the 101 for a healthy competitive game imo
I hate those "this game is dying" type of people when the game is still racking in millions and hundreds of thousands of players. I'm sorry… Doesn't sound like a dying game to me. 🤷
Hey jay, what is your opinion on DH?
Hey ManFaceJay, by any chance could you react to a game I played against a toxic streamer accusing me of tunneling?
It's because killers camping and tunneling
For the amount of variety the game has there’s way too much repetition…
