if BHVR needed a 6-month content break in order to reassess the direction of dbd’s future, I would be happier with that than these last two releases. it feels like devs have gotten lazy and do not think their releases through whatsoever anymore.

I think everybody expected too much I mean come on seriously, everybody was saying how bad the knight was, don't tell me you guys really expected something better after that chapter 💀 you wanted it be, which is okay of course but never put your hopes too high for something we don't know very much about
I gave it up long ago with this community. I fought and hoped so much that ppl will realize their bhvr. But they will never change. This game changed to the bad side so heavily so the best decision was to quit the game. And it feels good to play healthy games now
I actually do have fun with knight now, playing as him. It sucks that you basically need to run call to arms with him though.
100% agree if next update is a miss, I'm taking a break.

When Tools of Torment popped up I was excited to see what it would be, I had high hopes. I try out the PTB and immediately I wanted out. You're right about pretty much everything in regards to this in my opinion, especially with some people teetering towards the edge of quitting the game. If the next killer is even worse than this or just offers the same playstyle, I'll probably be done. It's hard for me to articulate the words that I want, but what I do know how to do is say that I hate absolutely everything about where this game seems to be heading. I've been having more fun playing other games, maybe I should stay in other games.
I think there is an underlying problem here. 3 Gen is just strong. Possibly too strong, and it lets a killer just slowly bleed resources from survivors. We can say the new killers are just too good at holding a 3 Gen, but honesly any M1 killer could hold pretty well, and even old killers like Hag could drag a game out for way too long. The game needs some way to punish a killer who does nothing but patrol a 3 Gen, and it cant be tied to perks. Even something simple like generators no longer regressing after so many minutes have passed in game would at least make it so killer has to actually commit to winning.
Don't you dare compare the knight to the skull merchant he is at least cool with the boys
i feel the perks aren't the problem, its that they are making killers that are boring and aren't scary, they saw the backlash with trickster why would they do it again
if no one buys the new killer they will make a change
well. as someone who really likes Knight and his play style. I can say that tools of torment is the second worst chapter ever from most points. And other then your takes on knight I agree with what you are saying. I hope they make one hell of a anniversary or things wont go well for this game

Punishing tunneling doesn't work case I point is the standard borrowed which hasn't stopped tunneling. Instead killers need to be rewarded for chasing other survivors because atm whether a killer wins or loses depends on how quickly they can get someone out, if that wasn't the case there would be less need to tunnel. Nerfing killers just causes them to play "scummy" in order to still win.
DBD content creators all crying about Skull Merchant & still crying about Knight is fucking hilarious & the popular thing to do right now lol. Everyone nitpicking the skull merchant to death but her abilities are nice in the right hands. THE RIGHT HANDS. Either y'all will play with her or won't but everyone making a vid complaining are poisoning the minds of ppl not able to use their own minds.
this is the first time ever that i get coonstant back-to-back 5-10 min matches as killer because nobodys playing killer. the game just forces me into any lobby of survivors because there arent enough killers to queue into high ranks, so it grabs lower ranked killers and throws it at them. i queued as solo survivor and the first killer i got was a doctor prretending to be his clones.
i have over 1500 hours.
Currently as a majority killer player, from just my experience over the past year with SBMM. Killer has become a miserable role unless you play higher tier killers. Toolboxes and med kits are so unbelievably powerful for something that doesn't take a perk slot. One med kit and COH makes hitting and running even worse, the addition of new dead hard giving even more distance and the new healing meta has trivialized the threat of a killer.
So weaker ones, that rely on m1 as their primary source of damage, now struggle even more. This is why Nurse, Blight, Spirit and I believe Knight excel and why we see more of them. They didn't get stronger, or players didn't get better. As new perks and playstyles adapted around new DH and SBMM, they just minimize the issue of closing out chases ignoring some survivor-killer interactions.
Due to toolboxes being a massive benefit, along with the extra healing options of today, gens fly faster as it takes longer to finish out chases. Survivors injured used to have a self care, or team mate heal the other, that no longer saves time. Newer options make this process so fast it trivializes uncompleted chases. Things that used to make survivors have to leave gens now only serve as inconveniences. Which is why I and others have to run 4+ gen regression perks to guarantee that after one chase through the horribly designed maps doesn't make me loose the game.
Some killers just don't have the tools to keep up. They haven't had the addon, and basekit changes to keep up. Power creep hurts Killer a million times worse then survivor.
Due to SBMM and having no dedicated casual playlist, people who just want to play for fun are being stomped into the dust, so in turn everyone is taking their best each match. I think that there needs to be a huge rework of healing time, toolboxes, and perhaps how addons and items are introduced into each trial. Boons, alike killer hexes should be placed randomly or give the ability to place hexes alike pentimento.
Quitting dbd was the best thing I‘ve ever done. I have a blst on vhs and league of legends
BHVR's ideal chapter is one with a killer with an interesting enough power to make it feel like killer players are doing something, while still being too weak to actually win against survivors who are trying. Because that is the vast majority of their customer base. They aren't out there selling a dozen new trapper skins every week like they do for Feng.
I used to be a killer main now I am a survivor main that bullies killers until I kill the game or they nerf survivor
I recommend watching One Pump Willie's vods on Skull Merchant (if they're still up) he proved that she is actually a fun killer, he didn't run any gen slowdown, other than her drones and ran a pure chase build and did just fine with her, going on a 101 win streak. Now that said I realize and he realizes that it was a PTB and so a win streak doesn't really mean much, but rest assured when the killer comes out he'll go on another win streak for the live version. I think they buffed her too fast, too soon, because they're clearly in panic mode, but time will tell when she goes live. IMO she looks ridiculous, her background lore is absurd, and her chase music sucks, but game-play wise she's got all the tools to be a great killer. Will she need tweaking, maybe? But again people IMO were too quick to judge her during the PTB with many content creators maybe playing a match or two with her before going on tirades that really should have never been made considering their lack of time playing her. One big creator which I won't name for example played one match with her using 4 gen slowdown perks and then said "OH SHE'S JUST A 3 GEN KILLER". Here's a pro-tip, you can pretty much do that strategy with any killer in the game, not just Skull Merchant or Knight. As far as the survivors go, I like most of the new perks, I am disappointed they changed Background Player before we even got a chance to try it as I think that would have been a fun perk to build a load-out around. The new version despite people touting it as a flashlight save perk, as really not that suited for flashlight saves as the speed boost happens during the pick-up. Best time to go for a flashlight save is during the pick-up when the killer is locked in a animation. So I would say its probably less a flashlight save perk, and more of a sabo save perk. Has a bit of utility, but I was far more excited for the original version of the perk.
No dev making a game should strive to make it fun. Fun is subjective and what is fun for me might not be fun for someone else. A chapter is not bad just because you didn't find it "fun".
I don't think the devs know what a 3 gen actually is. I know this is speculative, but I believe that during the "playtesting" for skull merchant they placed drones anywhere BUT generators and since they suck at their own game most of them said "woah I know where survivors are this is so strong :0"
How odd when I see the knight since mainly the skull merchant is one of the big issues, I was honestly looking forward to seeing the new killer and may have thought that it was going to be a cyborg killer but it ends up being some random human chick that wants to be like a predator want to be killer but coming a bootleg version, what a disappointment

I hate all these new killers who just aren't actually built for DBD or promote the worst parts of DBD. You can have a busted killer who is still fun to play and play against. I'd say 90% of people would rather play against Blight than Skull Merchant
DBD has always been awful. I don’t know why people are surprised by this, tho I suppose you (the fans) are too stupid and gullible to quit the game or stop giving BHVR, a mediocre company at best, more money

You say tunneling is a kind of gameplay thay should not be rewarded but what about survivor gameplay? You say don't want to reward tunneling but what about survivors who are so competitive they won't even let e killer get the first hook. First hook. They're already body blocking, going for flashlight or pallet saves? That kind of gameplay is ok? And of course they can do it, it's fun and sometimes really helpful but before hook one? Why don't we have a "standard" for that like we say to killers that it's only ok to camp or tunnel in endgame? The game is always fun for survivors as long as they are having fun, but this does not mean the killer is having fun. Play however you want. As both killer and survivor. Just don't complain about how the other side adapts to you. If you tunnel hard and the survivors block you then you brought it on you. If you start body blocking and sabotaging and flashlight saving then you were asking for it. Don't set rules for one side at the expense or for the benefit of the other.
