Dead By Daylight| Are DBD devs encouraging us to make friends & SWF squad up instead of solo queue?

Read more Dead by Daylight ➜ https://deadbydaylight.mgn.gg

Dead by Daylight is a very difficult game to balance being an asymmetrical game, especially when you layer on top of it the advantages that a SWF (survive with friends) group can have with an extra layer of communication through discord call outs, or even just knowing what playstyles and perks your regular teammates run.

Rather than eliminating SWF which I think would be a complete disaster, it looks like the devs of Dead By Daylight have gone in the opposite direction, encouraging people to squad up as much as possible, given the topics leaning in the direction of friendship on the latest survey, and the new Dead By Daylight mobile feature offering extra bonuses for their new “squad quests”. But what happened to the proposed “what are my teammates doing” icons discussed in January for solo players? Let’s look a bit deeper at this topic of solo vs SWF experience and discusss.

What is your current experience when playing survivor? Do you play as solo or in SWF? If you play solo would you like to make friends for SWF? So you think the game is balanced for solo players of do you need help? If you think solo needs help is SWF the solution? Let me know what you think about all this?

  2. Simple thing to help solo would be just to show the other survivors perks before the match starts. I have started shooting a quick message to other Xbox players who pop up in my lobby telling them my build. I think it would pretty major if we knew who was running Prove Thyself and who had BT, and who needed to get an unhook for Deliverance, or if someone had a boon so I shouldn't try running Inner Healing because we might shortchange each other. That little bit of knowledge pre-game would go a long way to bridge the information gap. I really don't expect too much free information, but if I knew my teammate had Adrenaline or DS I would not give them up as a lost cause. I don't think it would be all that complex to add to the loading screen, but maybe I'm wrong.

  3. I'm not too keen on playing with friends, I was introduced to the game '18 by a friend who stopped playing shortly after and I haven't SWF'd since. The new perk changes are making life significantly harder for the solo q player and there's no rewards for long term playing. No incentive to get creamed match after match and leave the games feeling like it's genuinely upsetting you. The devs telling people "just make friends" isn't a good solution to the issue and IMO shows a lack of appreciation for the players who are playing in spite of being solo. I'll probably take a break or stop playing with the mid chapter changes if things aren't changed. Again, for as long as I've been playing there's no show that they value people who've been playing for a while or people that play even without friends. A little disheartening since I do really like the game and have fun with some of the solo antics.

  4. I’ve been playing DBD for a while (rank 1 survivor) and unfortunately have only played solo 😭 None of my gamer friends play. They all say it’s too stressful for them… lol… which i don’t disagree with.

I can imagine how games would be survivor-sided with SWF and can only tell you that playing solo sucks big time when you’re paired with new players or selfish survivors.

  5. The chances of me doing swf is 0% I never get anyone playing with me and when it was swf it was only one or two games and then they never played with me again happens all the time

  6. Question 29 Answer

Other: I want an option to disable any guild or friend suggestion nonsense you decide to add to the game.

As someone who only plays solo survivor as SWF is too easy and no fun, the fun of playing solo is NOT knowing what my teammates are doing, so I would dislike the symbols telling me what teammates are doing. However, if it helps BHVR to balance the game for SWF while not hurting solo survivors' chances, then I'm all for it.

  7. I liked this game because I had an option to communicate or not. And I do prefer not to communicate verbally lol, especially with the toxicity you already see just in end-game chat and Discord groups/FB Groups/ etc… I'd rather not put myself in a place where I will meet someone like that. I already have some friends I like to play with and even then we don't verbally communicate while playing. I kind of think 4-man SWF w verbal comms is A LITTLE BIT "Cheating" (maybe more like… "unfair"" is a better word) but that's just my opinion lmao I play killer and survivor pretty equally. BTW! I subscribed today! Jelly of your custom DBD PC though! xd

  8. It's because in solo their matchmaking is really bad. I find when playing as either role it's a complete mix of 'noob' type players and high skilled players and it's probably because the system sadly reads just stepping out the exit line or camping as skill when it's really the opposite.

I like to play with at least 2 people I know so I will have fun matches and as killer I just feel sorry for the way they've been grouped. I think they said they're working on a new system but honestly this should have been their priority first over anything else a long time ago. Sometimes I get that magical day where I'm teamed with a great team though. 😀

  9. Pauline Esther don’t you always survive with friends? In your song “It’s a gen rush life” you say “we don’t do randoms; we got friends” and almost all your survivor games are premades, which have left out us solo survivors for years. Show some compassion and plz play solo so we have a chance of being on your team. Pleaseeeeee 😩

  10. I have had the game for about a week now, bought it on the sale, and I have got to say that they really should just let players queue up for matchmaking with any combination of killer and number of survivors. Want to practice killer and have only a couple of friends with the game? Well, you have to either play solo and still be able to gain blood points or do a custom with only two survivors and no bloodpoints. Decide instead to just play SWF with your two friends so you can all gain BP and do rituals/challenges? Well, you get matched with an AFK survivor and/or killer who are just waiting for specific things to happen in the game so they can get their ritual/challenge progress and nothing else. To me, the reason for not being able to matchmake as a lobby of killer + survivor(s) is kind of moot because of my experience so far with playing SWF
