Dead By Daylight has posted some “coming soon” teasers for changes they are working on for the game. Presumably these will be things that will be tested in the next test build and released into the live game in the mid chapter patch this Fall. Let’s look at the teasers and discuss!

  2. Look, I get the problems with Skull Merchant. I just hope this change isn't just a nerf to her drones, without adjusting her power elsewhere to compensate. I'm not even a Skully player, but I'd hate to see her as just filler on the roster bc she wouldn't be appealing to anyone, at that point.

  3. My biggest concern with the unhook anticamp is specifically for trapper & hag, now I know these killers don't face camp but they do heavily rely on defending small zones or poxxing the hook. Hag is already an incredibly low pick rate killer & trapper is arguably the weakest killer on the roster.

  4. Can’t grab an altruistic survivor from saving teammate. Survivors unhooking themselves, what’s next no longer being able to grab survivors from gens now? Borgo already got a rework cause it was 💩 and now another rework? Where’s the Grim Pantry rework, The Game? No one?

  5. I hope they fix the hay bales and fence on Borgo, its literally impossible to use Aliens tail over them i found out cause they have like a meter tall invsible wall places over them for some godforsaken reason…

  6. I'm just glad they are not letting this new QOL affect the endgame. Camping with more than 3 gens is just so boring but if the game comes to endgame then everything is permitted also makes the saves and escapes more rewarding. 🙂

  7. I have never played vs skull merchant I guess since they're nerfing her I never will.
    Also 15 meters is huge! 50ft radius around the survivor that the killer can't get near is effing ridiculous

  8. the unhook part will 100% get reworked, its insane if they gain %chance increase only by proxy camp, imagine small maps or double floor, or if lots of people around the hooked surviver, it will have lots of bad scenerios .

  9. The only thing I see being a matter of question is…Killers will still camp, but they will stay just far enough away to keep the hooked Survivor from gaining meter, and then rushing in when another Survivor rushes in to save.

I think people don’t play Skull Merchant is because either the backlash from just playing a Skull Merchant, 3-Gen is really her only play-style and people don’t want to play it OR people keep ditching lobbies or DC’ing so they don’t play Skull Merchant so they can actually play proper matches. I’m excited to see the new changes! I actually loved her aesthetic despite its simplicity and the drone aspect and mini-game is cool.

  11. I hope they actually have a visual way to tell if you’re too close to a hook and they prevent the metre from building if they chasing a survivor in the radius. I know a survivor being close to a survivor pauses the build up or at least makes it very slow but I’d appreciate if they made it at least slower if I’m chase on the edge of the proximity.

  13. I actually hope they give Skull Merchant some compensation buffs to help her in other areas. Even if I didnt play her in that way, the only thing propping her up was that boring af strategy. Nerf 3 gen, but buff Chase Merchant.

  14. So the answer to camping is to jump right into the killers arms and be tunneled out? Not sure what type of solution that is…i almost want to see something in the form of hook progression ceasing like you get from Reassurance to entice the killer to move away in order to get that kill. Although it would have to be tweaked so an active killer isnt penalized each time they near the hook in search of other survivors

  15. i gave the skull merchant a fair shot and played her in various different playstyles. my take away is that her chase power absolutely is non existent, so you have to camp something, either a basement, a slug, a hook, or of course a gen, with your drones to be effective. if you spend any time at all chasing someone, you will lose all your gens. and one thing that absolutely drives me nuts when playing her is her slowdown when a drone is returned or when placing one. there is a slight hesitation to her movement during those sequences and its distracting, not to mention it actually slows you down and hinders you while chasing. if they gave her a solid chase power and reworked her drones she would be cool.

  16. What scares me the most is if someone goes down next to a nearly done gen, you can't protect that gen and the hook at the same time so you might just have to give it to them or risk an easy unhook.

I’m interested in seeing how the changes are made and I’m hoping they did a total rework of sm I understand how people did not like: gen and I’m hoping the power is tweaked a lot to where it’s not overly oppressive. Also congratulations on the sub court you are close to the next sub goal. Also I just got done with survey and I typed in ideas that I wanted to see for killers hopefully they see it

  18. I stopped playing Skull Merchant, I used to primarily use a Chase or a Hex build with her.

    However due to the bad reputation of Skull Merchant in general most players DC before the first chase even starts.

    And if I wanted to play Dbd with bots I would have just played in customs.

    I hope this rework at least makes the killer more fair so survivors won't dc as often.

  19. i like the hook change…however the killer can just tunnel you and slug you so you bleed out. That is if the killer really wants you dead that badly, unfortunately it is DBD so…..the chances are always 50/50

  20. I can see the hook change backfiring. I'm assuming the meter will build faster than the hook stage count down, so if you really wanna tunnel someone out, let them unhook themselves, down them, and repeat till dead. Either way, this will probably be a terrible change for the health of the game.

  21. Sure I hate the gameplay on Shattered Square but my biggest problem with it is how it looks. It's too cluttered, the color scheme & environment is boring & kinda ugly. Really wish it was snowy & had a different color scheme. Unless they completely change the theme it will remain one of my least favorite maps. So disappointing, cuz I wanted a medieval chapter & wanted to like it more.

  22. I wonder why they chose Jane and Trapper in the picture? How will Sam comment on this? I can already see it, the killer waits for a minute while Jane is absorbed by the Entity and then BAM the hook breaks under her weight

  23. Sadly, I think killer mains are just going to proxy camp and tunnel that survivor who unhooked themselves so this may not help much. Maybe make the gens repair 6 percent faster for all players still alive (similar to Deja Vu). I rarely play the game anymore because most killers just tunnel back to hooks and tunnel players out, it's just not fun anymore when most play like this. But thanks for the info Paulie!
