Well today while scrolling through Dead By Daylight Twitter, a post caught my eye suggesting that the Leatherface license could potentially be expiring in Dead By Daylight in the not so distant future. On the PTB build for the mid chapter patch, I’m told there is code in place to change Leatherface perks to very rare public perks not tied to him, and even text in place suggesting coming name changes for his perks. Let’s discuss.
The strongest evidence exists in a “license expiration” section of code in the game I’m told. In the PTB Leatherface is set to “TRUE” for LicenseExpirationOverride, the same way Demogorgon is, while other licensed characters such as Ash and Nemesis, etc… are set to “FALSE”. This suggests the license for Leatherface will not be renewed by the Texas Chainsaw Massacre license holders, perhaps due to the fact that TCM is getting it’s very own assymetrical horror game later this year.
This will most likely be a similar situation to the expiration of the Stranger Things license, where you’ll get to keep what you bought connected to Leatherface, but if you don’t own him or his cosmetics by a certain date, his content won’t be available for purchase anymore.

Hmmm, we do have Texas Chainsaw Massacre the game coming out in 2023 so it would make sense. I am 50/50 on this. I love/hate Bubba mainly because of the way some play him. Thanks for the info Paulie!

It’s likely because of the new game
Again some Perks to buy in Bloodweb for every Killer in the Future. Extends the grind for all perks by up to 9 Webs.
I will not miss a Killer with mostly boring playing Gamers. Camping, Tunneling and toxic Chat.
The Cosmetic are boring as well, after removing the different faces, which was a unique trophy.
Doesn't make any sense, Texas Chainsaw by Gunn already admitted they weren't pulling him out of anything. This is BAD BUSINESS on BHVR or the license-owner's case if this is anything close to accurate, hahahaha.

The optimist in me says that maybe they’re going in and making alternate names for the licensed perks to all licenses preemptively just in case something happens as they have learned that they can’t keep licenses after the stranger things situation. Maybe bubba just so happened to be the one to bug out.
I hate Bubba but I really hope not at the same time 🙁
Honestly this is really bad news if it’s true. The reason why stranger things has so much hype behind a possible return in the future is because it’s not only a big chapter but it’s the only chapter to have been removed thus far. If we lose leatherface too, the chances of any license returning in the future starts to dwindle.

Something I need say about MR.bubba is,the ones play normal(not camping)are very fun,I love that sense of you be so close to be downed but his chainsaw run finish,its simply,but cool,sadly,not a lot of people play him in that way,I hope him not be removed,I want a blight buba one day

Look at how much licensed content there is in the game, each of those they got to pay to keep them. At any moment the people they are paying to keep and pull the content. If all the licensed content where to leave the game, just think of how much money they would save. Money they can use to pay their own workers to create original killers/survivors.

I think texas chainsaw massacre changed licence holders, pretty sure it was with lions gate when dbd got the licence so maybe they'll just re release leatherface under a new deal with the new licence holder
