On their 6th Anniversary livestream, Dead By Daylight laid out their plans for the future on how to reduce the grind of progressing in game with an overhaul of the prestige system as well as changes to 40 perks and other various gameplay changes.

We tested these changes in the PTB (Public Test Build) for the mid chapter to see exactly how these changes will work. Well now Dead By Daylight has come back with some tweaks to everything we tested and changed a few things for progression, the visuals of the prestige system (including new legacy character portraits for players who reach Prestige 3 before the mid-chapter patch goes live). They also tweaked some of the changes to perks and they’re increasing the bloodpoint cap! Let’s read through all the changes together to see what’s happening.

  2. They better at this point rebuff balanced if they gonna nerf dead hard more.. the 1 second was enough

    Also it would be nice if the characters on your portrait would be bloody if you got to p3 before the update, it would be a lot cooler and just overall a nice addition

  3. Looks like the Devs want Dead Hard to be used about 0.5% of the time with this further nerf. Luckily, I never ran it so its not as disappointing for me. This update will definitely be changing the look and feel of the game entirely, I certainly hope its a good one and does not further extend the gap between veteran and novice players.

  5. So much for them rewarding players who have already done the grind to p3 all perks because now a p3 level 1 character will get the same amount of prestige levels as a p3 all perks character, so much for my grinding to try and have my Nea start out at the highest prestige level I could.

  6. I hope they still give progress for the perk tiers seeing as they pushed that narrative as the goal during anniversary event. If not guess everyone is P9 but im excited to get to P100!

  7. That part about not being able to stack endurance is going to kill dh. If you get hit by a legion, you have no dh because it gives you endurance which even if you time perfectly, you go down.

  8. It seems like they are doubling down on the power swing. It is reasonable to believe killers needed boosts; however, with zero changes that will address camping, inherent killer buffs, and the removal of endurance changes, are we over-correcting? Will be interesting, if nothing else. Great video, Paulie.

  9. I really wish they could implement the boon totems to brighten sections of the map to the ratio when it comes to the dredge is to freaking dark but at least the light of the boons would help

  10. It's a little crazy how Botany Knowledge, a perk that is meant to teach you about medicine, makes you LESS effective with Medkit supplies. It's just a bit contradicting with Claudette's lore and the origin of the perk itself. Great changes otherwise though.

  11. A cool thing would be that every time you complete a bloodweb, you are allowed to influence the next bloodweb, with choices in the form of flavor text… For example

    You're upgrading Trapper then finish your current bloodweb…

    Suddenly, text pop up and say "Where does Trapper go to?"
    With choices such as:
    Eyrie of Crows (Brown Add-ons)
    Autohaven (Yellow Add-ons)
    Lery's (Yellow Add-ons)
    Killer Shack (Purple Add-ons)
    Basement (Iridescent Add-ons)

    (Just Example btw)

    That way you will be given a a better chance to get what you need, or don't want to get!

  12. My only issues with this new info is that the perk charms are still a thing and will massively clog the charms pages. The other is that prestiging still costs BP when it's free right now BUT I'll accept a reduction of over half to the original 50k cost they had.

    Also good on them making DH take some actual real skill to time and use now instead of being a "E to win" perk

I love how they made off the record useless before it comes out, by useless I mean it cannot be used in end-game or if I'm hooked and last gen pops then it wont work either, at this point using old BT sounds like a much better choice for helping teammates (10 seconds definitely better than 5).

  14. Now wait a minute.. they removed the bloodpoint bonus to barbecue and we’re gonna live forever but they never mentioned prove thyself did they? I thought they wanted to remove all blood point bonuses on perks.. hmm

  15. Instead of only Spine Chill showing the strength of the terror radius they should just make the four perk diamond on the bottom left show the terror radius strength. That eliminates the need for a single perk for the players that need that information visual.

  16. Hey Paulie, maybe you can clear this up. If you are already P3 on your survivors and have some special cakes, medkits, toolboxes etc will you lose them when the new system is implemented? Some are saying yes but, I thought BHVR said you would not?

  17. They cut me deep with Dead Hard. As a 49yo PS5 player, PC players half my age with 20 pings and 120FPS could often close a chase gap with the turn of any corner. The old DH was a way to briefly extend a chase. Often times at a pallet or window, on my screen I'd make the safe point only to see the killer a meter closer than what the prior chase indicated. This is primarily a problem with cross-play, which I embrace. Now that DH is wholly dead with just 0.5 seconds of Endurance, I'll be throwing pallets with glee. My struggle with an uneven field is similar to those relying on Spine Chill to overcome being hearing impaired. I fully understand that these perks weren't meant to help overcome deficiencies as they bolster those without similar hindrances. Mostly I'm fine with the changes, except when there's no meaningful way to play against the most powerful killers in the hands of experts. Thanks for the work you do here

  18. Inner focus is great in certain situations. Works well with sabo builds and a better focus on where to go with a flashlight. I like it someone else might not! Bp should loose the cap completely honestly don't understand the cap anyway. Took around 2 million per prestige and that was to just hit 50. Dead Hard is officially dead in the water but, overal the PTB made it harder to recommend others to play. The killer role just seems sweatier to me personally.

  19. Already got my bloody Meg, Nea, Mikey and Granny so probly won't be prestiging anyway. I would like to see the cross progression more then anything. I went back to PC when PS5 released and would love to have my PS4 DbD account (Platinum) 13 P3-50 survs and 5 P3-50 killers the only 5 I play.
