Dead By Daylight| Solo Survivor Experience Improvements in the Next Mid-Chapter Patch?!

Last January Dead By Daylight had a developer blog post saying that they wanted to shore up the solo survivor experience. And today Dwelf gave us a sneak peek of what some in game status icons in the HUD telling what your teammates are doing will look like! Presumably these will roll out in the mid chapter patch and will probably be in the PTB (Public Test Build) in early January for testing. The first PTB of the year was January 5th this year so the next mid chapter PTB will probably be in early January 2023 as well. Let’s look at the status icons and discuss!

To jog your memory, here’s that blog post from January this year, discussing how they wanted to help the solo survivor experience in the future:

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/302821

“We want to share key pieces of information, like “What are my teammates doing?”, but not too much info, like showing everyone’s exact location. To put it simply, the idea is to bring solo Survivors up to the same level, not give people excessive information that makes even premade groups stronger.

We want to share a very early peek at one potential way of closing this gap. Before we do, we want to stress that this is in the very early stages; we’re curious to hear what you think, but please keep in mind that it may change or even be scrapped entirely.

One feature we are experimenting with is a status icon next to each Survivor’s portrait in the HUD that lets you know what they are doing. This way, solo Survivors can base their decision around what their teammates are doing, and partial groups get a better idea of their solo teammates’ contributions, making everyone feel like more of a team. This is something that can already be easily conveyed with a quick callout over voice chat, but is currently not available to solo Survivors.

Once again, this is a very early preview- so early that we’re still discussing this internally. Feel free to share your thoughts, but please keep in mind that none of this is final or confirmed. Depending on how things go, this feature may be changed or scrapped entirely before it ever sees the light of day. We wanted to be open about this and keep you in the loop: The gap between solo Survivors and groups is not going under the radar, it’s something we’re actively working on.”

  2. This is going to ruin the ballance once again. But this time solo survs won't be much different from survs on Discord. There will be really more info. And that's exactly the thing that will make killers really less enjoyable. Because the gens will pop in about 5 minutes and adieu.

  3. I don't think that's going to help at all to be honest. It's not going to make random teammates play any better so in my opinion it's going to do nothing for the game. You can see what others are doing but there is still a ton of people that just hide and not do much and I don't think it's going to persuade them to do more LOL I actually think it's going to cause people to get a lot of salty messages when people see that they didn't do nothing the whole match.

  4. This is a really shitty idea. It will leave to even more disconnects. I hate this. It also takes the mystery out of the game. in 2 years we will have 3 live camera feeds of other survivors. Why would anyone pick information perks with this. This is so dumb

  5. You forgot to mention that this picture also shows that the “infinite” window on eyrie will be nerfed. The positions of the window and breakable wall have been swapped in the photo. Excited to see what other changes will happen in the mid chapter (hopefully swamp rework finally).

  6. I run either bond or Empathy on almost every build… I can already see what everyone is doing, and where they are doing it. Now if they if they were to give these icons to the killer.. well that should spice things up a bit.

  7. i think this change only gonna add more frustration to the solo Q survivors, since as you said you will at all times see if your teammates are doing something productive to help win the game. it's not even helpful in winning the game. you still need all those aura perks for that to have that information. this change gonna change NOTHING
