Dead by Daylight have finally added SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking) into DBD. A lot of people are still unclear as to what their MMR is, so I wanted to clear some things up.

My survivor games are generally okay, more or less of the same memey shit, but my killer games are absolutely miserable. I want to play 'fair' as Hag, no tunneling, no camping. I even play Devour Hope to encourage me away from the hook and not to teleport to deny unhooks. I want to play fun builds but also not get genrushed into sweat-filled oblivion.
3 games in a row – Ruin gone, Devour Hope gone, Thrill of the Hunt gone. Sorry survivors, but after my 3rd totem was gone in the 3rd game, I just fully face camped the survivor I downed to second stage and set 10 traps around them. Altruism wins through, I down one more. Hook nearby, contest the unhook, down someone else, hook them again. The remaining 2 survivors take the hint and hop onto 2 generators simultaneously (2 gens left). They finish the gens simultaneously and then run to separate exit gates. Good thing I had Bitter Murmur as apparently my only perk so I could get the Ace I brought to second stage. Quick chase for the 3K. I hate tunneling and I hate camping, but apparently it seems to be very much the only viable option to get anything above Brutal Killer or even a few hooks.
If this is the way BHVR wants to take the game, I don't feel much of an incentive to play Killer. It's not fun. To be frank, survivor games aren't so great either. But at least it ain't killer.
I don‘t know if I should feel honoured or worried, because the MMR system seems to be working for my main killers now. I have queues that take up to 15 minutes and I get the sweatiest survivors I’ve had in a long time.
as a better killer and a kinda good survivor i find that as killer im doing good and having fun and as survior with my gf and friends one of us always dies but we all survive and its the best its ever been for us.
It would have been better if they would have just made sbmm a separate mode. Casual and competitive. And the way the could have done competitive and make people want to play it is by having a special charm, skin, shards, or cells for hitting rank/grade 1 and each match gains double the BP they normally would. The have both systems so why not capitalize on it and keep everyone happy?

well as a silver killer going against 4 man iri teams, I'm unsure MMR is working.
Queue times as a killer have definitely become a problem. As a casual player I do not enjoy waiting 15 to 20 minutes just to find a match and I am very far from high mmr play.
Behaviour needs to do what Unisoft did with Rainbow 6 Siege and release their own version of Operation: Health and focus their effort to fix all of the game's imbalances as a major update
I solo queue and am suddenly playing match after match with 4k (as a survivor). Needless to say it's very frustrating.
In my experience, playing in a way that's fun for me keeps me away from the sweaty survivors, except for a couple of killers. As survivor, i get mixed results as i play with meme builds lately, but whenever i get bad teammates, i recognise i've been playing poorly so i just try a little harder so i get to play in a fun way in the next few games without hurting the team.
All in all, the game is good fun so long as you arent high mmr where you're forced to either lose horribly or play in a way where you sweat and stress
I'm a bronze survivor, going against iridescent killers or bronze killers who were quite obviously previously red rank. Teammates have been hit or miss silvers/golds. The game still feels the same?

I have the same problem dowsey has, 10 to 20 min queues and every game is just unfun since the killer side is forced to play in a "scummy way" if they want to win… this mmr system is not meant for high level players cause of the unbalance that exists
10 minutes on queue to play a 5 minutes game. And these 5 minutes won't be anywhere near fun. A Skill Based Matchmaking should be fine on a balanced game. But not only DBD isn't balanced it also is very RNG dependent. I don't get the idea behind this.

Honestly, I hope this means they nerf killers & survivors including their perks for lower MMR.
Playing almost exclusively survivor, I see a much wider range of killer skill levels than I did before. I feel like in my games I'm being paired against random killer skill levels as opposed to being paired with killers at my level. The games are often one-sided, either in favor of the killer or the survivors – few incredibly hard-fought matches. Comparing to before, it's definitely less draining because I will get more easy games where I can relax as opposed to having nearly every match be sweaty.
Edit: With old rankings I was usually a rank 4 or 5 survivor when trying my best.
I got to iridescent 1 in 6 days as survivor. Now I can yolo the rounds till next reset. Before SBMM I just reached Rank 3 after flip-flopping around rank 5-4 the month before.
But I also get many face camping killers. Also I was on a leave last week I got really relaxed games from 3am to 9am… sooo I don 't think I'll get iri1 that fast next month.
I'm a relatively casual player, never really played competitively. The new SBMM system makes the game really unfun in my opinion. Playing as killer, I get matched against full SWF parties nearly exclusively who are all way above my skill level, to the point where I can't learn new killers, or even play killers I'm more experienced at. Without SBMM, I could just wait for a rank reset, get back to rank 20, and play a killer I'm new to and learn them at a slow pace, but with this system I struggle to even get one sacrifice most matches.
I'm a very casual DBD gamer and SBMM actually seems better than the old rank system for me.
In the old system I was a solid rank 7-8 survivor and I had the pretty frequent problem of getting teammates that do more for the killer than the survivor team. This number of game throwing plays seemed to simmer down thanks to SBMM. Also I felt that killers don't have as much of a difference in skill as before.
As killer (old rank 6 Ghostface main) my matches are noticably more difficult and very consistent. Before I had 4ks at 5 gens and 3 hooks in games after each other, now it's around 2-3 kills per game which BHVR probably considers optimal.
The nice thing about this system being more consistent in my experience is that I had the bad habbit of underestimating people early in the games and now I more or less know what to expect.
Edit: reading the other comments I realize that I forgot to say that since the new system I only played like 15hrs and at first I had bad inconsistencies as others described (getting a sweaty team after an easy 4k)

Problem is all people will play that way. I'm glad I only watch this game I don't want to play killer that way but if you don't enjoy your in flight nuts. As survivor the game is boring and I don't like getting tunneled. The game is the worse it's ever been. Once a trend happens there is no fixing it. All killer will play that way now forever because they want to win I don't have fun playing that way but I don't like getting steamrolled so for me I just quit and play other games and watch hoping that one day it will be worth playing again
I love how apparently they have been working on this matchmaking system for so long just for them to release it and it to be complete crap. I'm not some high level comp player I don't play with the toxic swf perks and all I've been matched with us camping tunneling killer who have to play like this so they don't lose rank and mmr. Honestly behavior this is one of the worst things you have implemented into the game. Pathetic 👎
As a survivor, I'm getting killers that do nothing but face camp and as a killer I'm punished for trying out anything new or fun because all I get are sweaty swf that bring keys and maps every match. How is that healthy or fun for anyone? I want to try new and different perks, but SBMM pushes us as both killer and survivors to stick to the meta perks that we know will work every time.
I am no where near as good as you at killer. I'm respectable and am consistently in Reds. The game has become a lot harder for me and I get teams with keys, map offerings and meta builds a lot more now.
Honestly as a newer player these games vary wildly in my opinion of skill or if not skill, the tactics used by either side. I've had killers that slugs and let us bleed out in their faces because we're at such low ranks that the average soloque player doesn't have ds/unbreakable yet, or the killer completely memes it up. It's anything but consistent lol
I think survivors should win more blood to stimulate to play with them. I know they have the uper hand but we need more good surv

I love how quickly im finding games as a survivor, i am facing killers that are good but no longer getting my ass kicked within 5minutes 😅

Out of 50 games my tournament swf lost against an insane blight and a nurse thats it. Only killers that can compete. This game is unbalanced as shit: we run 4 medkits, 4ds, 4 adre, 3dh/1sb, 2 proove, 1borrowed, 1unbreakable.(map offering too). Normally the killer gets 2-3 hooks.
I hate que times (killer) but I’m glad I’m finally playing teams that are actually trying to win. Before out of 10 matches 4 would just be free wins bc skill difference 5 would be free bc the survivors were literally not even trying to win and I’d have maybe 1 fun game
I've never related to a video so much, I like to have fun using tons of killers and different builds but almost if not every game is nothing but survivors using offerings for hatch and picking the map. queueing takes forever sadly
ive been in red ranks with both killer and survivor pretty consistently. but with this new system my survivor matches are just dreadful. face campers, tunnelers, NOED every game. and killer matches i’ll go against high level SWFs only. it’s rough. but it’s whatever i still play it.
My time on DBD since the MMR has been so weird one game I will go up against obvious noobs and rekt them and then the very next match I look like the noob and get rekt so IDK how its really going for me its kinda all over and killer ques are quite long most of the time.

Yea that’s why I stopped playing this game. SBMM just kills games.I’m an average player but play a lot on the weekends or after work. I’m always being matched up against the sweatiest of players. I’ll just go play better games.
