  1. I definitely agree that casual/ranked modes would not benefit this game at all. Ranked rewards increasing was to help alleviate the grind and adding ranked would make the grind all the more annoying for both survivors and killers. I love the ideas of new game modes though and I wished BHVR would listen to their community

  2. Honestly It would be amazing to have a casual gamemode with SBMM and get SBMM removed from the ranked gamemode, but just like you, i dont think its worth it

  3. One benefit I could see is that que times for higher ranked players could be lower as there would be no criterion of who you could match with, but then as you say that might be a moot point as splitting the playerbase would probably do the opposite and even worsen the issue.

  4. No, I don't think it should have a separate rank and casual. The idea of having them is a "in a perfect world" scenario. In a perfect world, rank-chasing tryhard sweaties will play in rank mode and get their rank up while casual players get to have a lazy just play and have fun play in casual mode. This isn't a perfect world. Dowsey already brought up the points in the video. The game is full of unfun tryhards by default now. Casual is no longer a definition of how people play. People just play to win now and with the defined ways of winning for both survivor and killer, "winning" is extremely unfun for the other side.

  5. You said something along the lines of "there's no guarantee that if there was a casual queue, that survivors wouldn't be running dead hard and boons and that killers wouldn't be camping or tunneling" which is true, but you fail to see that I don't think anybody is claiming ranked and casual queues will 100% fix every issue in DBD.

In a Casual queue, people will play in whichever way they define as fun, which can include all those tryhard ways(noed, boons, camping etc) but it'll be the exception, not the rule because the people that tryhard because they wanna win will be mostly playing ranked and abusing those things in that queue, so it's not about removing all the tryhards, but instead giving them a different queue where you're expected to go against that, and in turn, filter them out from the casuals so that they don't need to be put in the same queue as the tryhard to win people as often as possible.

If you queue up for ranked in any other game where you've got teammates, every teammates expects you to be playing what's meta, not making beginner mistakes or playing "for fun" because everyone's putting their rating on the line, it's a lot more toxic in my experience and very looked down upon to do any of the things I mentioned because you know that the other team will be playing meta and playing to win (which still applies here even with dbd being asymmetric).

And while your counter argument to this point would be (like you said) that "DBD is not an e-sports game and it shouldn't be looked at like that", then BHVR shouldn't have added Skill-Based Matchmaking, but this point is mute since I know you too, don't agree with the way BHVR implemented SBMM and will then agree with this point.

No fix will be 100% perfect, there are always edge cases that you can't or have a really hard time controlling, but if you can make it so the issue happens less often, it's a good start.

  6. something i just thought about for 2v8: part of the reason why there are so many more survivors than killers is because you get to play iwth your friends when you play survivor. 2 killers being able to queue up together would mean more killers killing.

  7. Splitting the ranks would be a plaster fix that creates more problems than it solves.
The main problem continues to be that near-perfect play for Survivors has been discovered and is widely used, and the balancing is forever being tilted more in their favour because they have the numbers to scream at the devs when they feel unfairly countered.

  8. I want there to be a mode where there survivors can’t die and they can equip any perks but they can’t do gens and it’s just about having fun getting downs and messing around with the killer, the killer could also switch killer in game

  9. I stopped playing lately because every time i play survivor(i play solo queue) someone just gets downed and facecamped and when i play killer the survivors just way outmatch me almost every match. I only have fun on killer when i literally throw matches to lower my elo and on survivor i only really have fun anymore when i SWF which is a huge pain to me since i just wanna chill and listen to music while playing.

  10. Two game modes
You want to play Killer ? or a game of Hockey

Casual would be played more than ranked
    guaranteed
They won't add it cause they know, no developer loves to be proved wrong especially Patrick

  11. How to fix DBD: Change healing boon to only provide healing speed. Change no ed to only work on the first surivior you hit ( give the survivors incentive to try unhook) Make dead hard either 1 use or tripple the cooldown timer. you're welcome.

  12. lets be honest , people are going to sweat more in casual then in rank or want to pub stomp casual which is why i think dbd dont need a rank / casual mode since it wont do anything.

  13. I think that a more "eazy fix" would be to place a point ratio perks, and every 3 months let the community decide by some short of poll, the ratio of every perk, that would let more diversity to killers and survivor. Wanna go with dead hard? no problem, the perk costs 5 point of the maximum of 12 point. But that is just my opinion, what you people think?

  14. Okay, your logic is flawed. You said that the casuals would enter the casual mode, and then the purpose would be lost immediately because of it? All your logic is saying is that there are casuals in a ranked and, by definition and logic, competitive game. You also said that most casual people don't want to go up against or with tryhards, but what you didn't seem to realize is that that particular issue isn't an issue for tryhards; tryhards shouldn't have a problem with playing with or against other tryhards.
Casuals with casuals guarantee them what they want. Same goes for tryhards.

Now, they actually probably won't do the whole "I most definitely have to try and win," because the vary definition of a casual game is not trying so hard to win to begin with. Now, if BeHavior start making perks and add-ons focused more on a specific playstyle, then maybe the whole perk problem can be avoided.
As an example (don't hate me for this): Let's look at TF2. You have all the classes, but certain weapons offer different ways for you to play the game. Like Demoknight, it allows for charging as opposed to the usual bomb traps and area denial of Demoman. Another decent example is Trolldier, having similar weapons to basic soldier with a single weapon offering a new playstyle. If BeHavior had mode-exclusive perks, and Casual had more "What do you want to do besides winning" perks, then it could work.

The queue issue is a good argument, and I agree with it for the most part. I don't really see any good way around this atm. However, the bigger playerbase could solve it.

For the perk funness (I don't think that's a real word, but go with it), they just need to be balanced and tweaked at that point.

Finally, DBD do need casual/tryhard mods for the game, but it needs to do some things to accomplish that effectively.

  15. Here's a thought. Just stop caring. The MMR system only works at the poles of the raking system. People who escape 1 of 50 games will be matched with others that get 1 kill every 50 games and 4 man groups running 2 Prov. 4 DS 4 DH with every intention of winning as fast as possible will be matched with 4 slow down blight players.
So just stop running 4 slow downs, stop running a toolbox, built to last, +whatever else, and take it easy. Then you will have fun with the game.

  16. Casual/Ranked system.
Multiple game modes – A survival mode without gens, just an endurance mode; 4v2, 2v8, Tag, a mode where hooking a survivor changes your killer or randomises your perks,
Removal of the MMR system, or a better explanation of it that doesn't reside in hockey analogies.
BP rework to remove the grind.
QOL update without a killer release to revitalise the sinking playerbase.

  17. Well, I suppose that the main issue is that BHVR are too proud to change their definition of a win. They have defined in such as way that playing in a fun way (for most people) is punished. They can't say with a straight face that they wanted to make a casual game, and in the same breath say that they have designed it such that tunnel/camp/killing one player asap (or sit on gens, don't heal and such) is the way to 'win'. Frankly, they should remove MMR and reward a playstyle that facilitates fun for as many people as possible, if they want to be a 'casual' game.

I must say, I don't think I have seen any successful game with this poor a management and design team. It's such a shame, because I believe DBD could be so much better than what it currently is.

  18. Here’s what I want for a “Casual Mode” make it so you can open Custom Lobbies to the public. That way you can play any of your characters, with any assortment of perks, and you can disable crazy add-ons if you want or really awful maps if you want. And all of that.
