Don't Stream Dead by Daylight

DBD seems custom made to be streamed and enjoyed on Twitch. My advice? Don’t do it. I’ll explain why in the video.

  1. I think I have a theory, these steamers won’t get anywhere cuz their uninteresting and entitled. The dbd community misbehaves already as it is. No one wants to watch someone who thinks their good at games, but actual just cries and asks for nerfs for everything. The problem isn’t discoverability, the problem is the creators and the community itself

  2. You have quite the nice soothing voice! I don’t really follow twitch much since YouTube is more accessible for my time so I tend to watch streamers on their YouTube channels and easy example would be Otzdarva but there’s this other streamer who does Starcraft 2 content and they have a good narrative voice so I think Starcraft 2 might be fun game to try since it is an RTS

  3. i agree to be honest. i steam dbd and i get follows and give follows also but dont really watch except for a few select because hey they were super nice or we play together sometimes. Ive play other games random ones like dark souls, fallout 4, and fire emblem and they mean a lot more then dbd follows because it means someone wanted to come and check out this random game i wanted to play and say hi

  4. I followed your Twitch because of your Youtube content. Proving your point, unless you're using tags I'm interested in on Twitch, I probably won't ever find you.

  5. The other thing about only streaming DBD is if you want to stream something else, you'll find a significant decrease in viewers. I think the best way to handle growing on Twitch is to mix your games. Play those big games like DBD and the medium games like Stardew Valley (which for me actually outperforms DBD slightly) and even some small games like Doki Doki Literature Club will bring in some viewers. But also, mixing things up means the viewers you do accrue won't be reliant on DBD

  6. I absolutely disagree with this actually. DBD has been the best game for discoverability with the caveat that my name is TTV_DrJMcB. People come to my channel to say gg's and often follow and come back. I've met people who I now play in with in SWFs and have become active in my discord. The community for DBD is one of the most accessible because of the post game chat on PC. I think if you're a console streamer it can be more difficult if you don't have the ability to make it obvious you are a streamer on your profile.

  8. one of the best pieces of advice i got back when i thought about making YouTube videos was from my brother he said and i quote "the days of making it big on YouTube and Twitch are over after Pewdiepie success nobody else will ever be "allowed" to make it big ever again. So don't waste your time".

  9. What cracks me up is i got 1.7 followers on twitch and dbd is my most stream game om lucky to even get 3 viewers foe this game so true no one cares about you're small time stream is the truth so many people what makes u or me special in any kind of way people are content and rather not help or support smaller Streamers and big Streamers don't raid so this is to be expect 1.5K hours on dbd never had even over 10 viewers in 5 years of streaming dbd Hella makes me depressed after awhile cuz this is my favorite game but I'm glad u made a video about this just wish people cared more to watch the small guy or otz raid people and people spread the love and give people a chance that have spent 5 years just to hope for a chance

  10. I get what you mean, so many follows I get on Twitch are empty, I have almost 1k followers, but still average maybe 7 – 10 viewers a stream;. I do stream DBD but I try to vary things up a bit but I no longer use it as a primary game because of this.

  11. I'm a new streamer and i stream dbd but i got my reasons and techniques
I really wanted to get into dbd for years but i never did till i started streaming and i notice is one of the most popular stream category on twitch so what i do is on my off time i play get better at the game and when I'm streaming maybe the last hour ill pop DBD On stream for a bit play alone or with friends and just have fun but I don't make it like the main game of the stream sometimes i don't even stream it at al but ill record gameplays and use clips for social media and promos etc
btw shameless plug but if you like horror game indie obscure rare or banned games in spanish look me up

  12. I gotta say I really agree with the advise here. It just sucks how playing the 'Trending Games' is essentially a fools errand cause why would people come watch YOU when they can watch Otzdarva and all them, only for you to end up buried underneath everyone else trying to capture a taste of that. I started streaming not long ago, maybe a month or so? Started with DBD, luckily managed to grow a little something out of it somehow which according to viewers they enjoy the fact I'm playing casually with an eccentric and animated personality. Made Affiliate in like… 2 and a half weeks? Been hoving around the 6-10 viewer mark a lot lately ever since moving to Elden though, pretty cool.

  13. This is mostly why I usually go watch people with less than 5 viewers. Twitch doesn't care if you just started out, it's not going to help you get an audience.

Edit: Also, I've dabbled in streaming before. My max was 12 viewers at one time and my average was 3 viewers at a time. And that was every odd day, cuz I would usually just stream for myself. Oh, and those three viewers? One was actually watching and talking to me, one wouldn't shut up about their Mega Man OCs (even when I wasn't streaming Mega Man games) and the last one was just there to simp for the second one. I gave up on streaming after a year or so, but I usually just streamed what I wanted to play.

But, DasFood's tip is great here: don't stream highly successful games on Twitch. Chances are that you won't get found if you do. Stick to what YOU want to play and try your best to advertise your stream outside of Twitch.

  14. I have stopped playing DBD since I chose Playstation as the initial platform. I also have a Series X. But there is no cross progression between the two. And until PS5 receives VRR and cross console progression is enabled I refuse to play.

That and taking Dowsey’s Twitch cosmetic out of spire.

  15. I have 250 followers and I average 2-3 viewers on twitch. People follow me for one of two reasons usually. One: they played with me. Two: Because I'm a woman. The ones that followed me because I'm a woman are usually the only ones to show up for streams. Over half the messages I get in chat are men asking me out. I really enjoy streaming but it has made me feel uncomfortable in the past.
