Gen times are becoming a problem… | Dead by Daylight

Generator repair times are not the fastest they’ve ever been, but they might be problematic still. The issue with gen speeds right now is that A) they’re no longer tied only to strong toolboxes and B) the timing of several other elements of the game has become wildly unpredictable. Both of these things also have the unfortunate side-effect of making it even easier for subtle cheaters to remain undetected. Should these speeds be normalized or am I overthinking this whole issue? You tell me!

  1. I really respect you, and have been watching you since your dark souls and pubg content.

However, I entirely disagree. I agree that it shouldn't work with toolboxes, but why do you never make these videos about very problematic things like Nurse? Or blights add ons and "techs"? Why do you not make videos on these things, but you make sure to point out Reassurance, or Hyperfocus, some of the first good perks since Mikaela?

Don't get me wrong, I love playing killer and these perks should've been changed, but they completely killed reassurance over unlikely situations.

So, ultimately, my question is, why so one sided?

  2. I have wondered for a while if it might be a good idea for certain speeds to be hard capped in both directions. A maximum amount of time it can take to repair a generator or finish a heal, and a minimum amount of time it can take to repair a generator or finish a heal.
With that change implemented, small bonuses from perks and addons and such can be increased to be more impactful, because they cannot be combined with large bonuses to exceed the cap in either direction. You'd see more legitimate perk variety because everyone's loadout would be doing multiple things a moderate amount instead of one thing obscenely well.

What the numbers would look like, I'm not sure, but I do think it's well worth considering.

  3. I cant stand that u suggest thay they keep on nerfing items screw u that is one of the few good things the game has and they have been nerfing them to the ground but u want them to nerf them even more why dont u ask them ro remove them alredy this isnt a competitive game for the million time

  4. Personally? I think they should just slash at the times perks and items affect the game as a whole. Perks and items should give you an edge, but not dictate the flow, if everything that affected speed and regression both was reduced to about 50% effectiveness as it is now, people would still have benefits to bringing the best of the best, but there would be a lot of chance for skill expression and alternative builds to be shown if things were a bit more normalized.

  5. I think that dbd is heading towards a brick wall right now…what I mean is that when one side gets a buff, the other feels as though they are deserving of one as well. It seems to me that soon we will reach a point where the negativity projected by both killer and survivor players will become overbearing and there will be no real way to address that when it happens.

  6. Make different game modes. It’s meant to be fun. That’s it. It’s a game. Both sides are supposed to enjoy it. Variety is key to that. I don’t for a second buy “but but longer queue Times 😭”. Plenty of games have huge play lists. Take SBMM out and just match people randomly. Do a competitive rule set like real life comp. Keep what you have now and add some bonkers fun. 2 killers vs 8 survivors. Currently it’s constant sweat. It’s obvious people don’t want that. I’ll say it again. It’s meant to be fun

  7. I think the biggest issue with increase to gen times again, would than just further destroy solo q. If they decided to do it, I think the best way to balance it is getting rid of the survivor animations that do the “point” and “come here” and just replacing them with actual in game messages like, “going for gen” “not going for gen” “agree” “disagree”. That alone would give solo q some way of communication to help with the gens and not completely kill it again.

  8. Always bring Deadlock, it's the best slowdown perk in the entire game. Those are 2 minutes which you're guaranteed to gain just by picking the perk and doing nothing else. Why would you ever disregard something which gives you this much value?

  9. More radical view, get rid of gens and replace them with something else. Everyone agrees that they are a boring sit and hold m1 objective, so why not make a more fun one that promotes active playstyles and more emphasis placed on interaction with other players rather than a boring mechanic?

  10. please lord, i need tips for how to deal with the gens. i recently got to rank 1 (my first time ever) and have been battered with green toolboxes with best addons and prove thyself with it. one of my most painful games was on gideon meat plant were i fought a decent jake and some other people. the jake was good at looping and held me for maybe 90 seconds the entire game. i was like: "ok time to leave chase" and did later, but i still lost gen after gen after gen. while the jake did do amazing for his team, i was still pretty confused till endgame

edit: i was playing blight and was running a not super slowdown build with the only slowdowns being pain resonance and jolt

  11. NGL. I see my brother win on every single killer be game. I don't think this game will ever have balance but the killer side really needs to stop crying every time survivers get anything. Eventually you won't have any survivers to play against when it's so shit nobody wants to play it.

  12. I think if they stopped focusing on speeding up or slowing down the game by focusing objectives, they could have some more interesting interactions with items affecting the map or the players. Not all of these ideas might be great, so take them with a grain of salt, but some examples just off the top of my head:
    – Make more items that affect hooks, doors, pallets, etc. For example:
    – make a single-use trap that blinds the killer upon breaking doors, pallets, etc.
    – make a single-use killer item that puts a breakable door into an empty doorframe- the only catch is that the room must have another point of exit, so it won't work on the bathroom for the meat factory
    – make more decoy objects and sounds. a droppable radio that emits a loud noise upon pressing a button. the one who dropped it can pick up up and put it elsewhere. battery-powered, is reduced with each activation.
    – make a smoke bomb for survivors. could be interesting to interfere with the killer's sight so they are forced to mind-game
    – a droppable killer item, when a survivor walks close to it, it alerts the killer without notifying the survivor
    – a single-use survivor item, an object that can be used to make a hook rescue silent (it does not alert the killer with the loud noise alert).

    things like that

  13. You can literally run 1 boon and remove the need for meditation and run prove thyself and run botany knowledge then you can gen rush and cross the map to heal yourself or other ppl fast ash its broken and people do gens way too fast and heal even faster without even using a medkit

  14. This might be a crazy idea, but just for survivor side, maybe they COULD make survivors unique with passives strengths and weaknesses. For example, Claudette could have a small boost to healing speeds but is slower in generator repairs, and then limit the survivor on how many of one survivor can be in a game. This then pushes for the whole new prestige system of levelling characters to P3 but it also 1) makes the survivor experience more unique and 2) gives the killer a bit of insight into how a survivor may play. I know this comes off as quite limiting for survivors, but it’s the first thing I thought of. Plus, survivors are currently nothing but skins right now anyway.

    Just my thoughts.

  15. In a no perks, no items, no add-ons match who would have the advantage? Killer or survivors?

What if they make perks, items and add-ons have weaknesses? For instance, tool boxes have weight that slows your running speed a certain amount, then if you add add-ons you get slowed even further.

  16. I think that survivors don't need perks, its overpowered to have any perk, also items, why the hell they need items for ? Dude , learn how to survive, hide in locker entire match, hug wall, be a bush and die like a skilled hero.
P.S Killers should make their own lobby, killers vs killers, maybe then, they will stop crying. ✌🏻

  17. I've been managing to pull of consistent 46 second solo generators in public matches with hyperfocus and stakeout, at 60fps on a controller, while it is hard to pull off, it shouldn't be possible to pull off at all

  18. I would have to disagree. From a casual standpoint, I don't think there is anything wrong with the varying generator times, healing times, or sacrifice times. I don't keep track of these things. I understand that there are people out there that like to have consistent numbers so that they can have a formulated plan, but c'mon man, it's a video game. It's supposed to be a casual environment.
