  1. One point I forgot to mention: There's no incentive to be at high MMR. The only thing you get from being better at the game with this system is your matches are less fun. Other games at the very least have trophies of prestige from things like Global Elite in CS to visible MMR in other games, but you get absolutely nothing but less fun in DBD. I don't get the point of even trying for it.

  2. I know ranks ultimately mean fuck all in this game. But as soon as you hit those red ranks, it's almost like a switch. It turns into the most fucking boring game in the world and there's no way of escaping it anymore unless you literally throw your fucking games. Rank reset does nothing to alleviate the problem.

  3. I think this can work well if they showed your ranks and had leaderboards and if they tried to fix the gap between solo queues and swfs, killers aren't balanced around high level play if every killer came against swfs all the time the kill rate would decrease dramatically. Not even good swfs

  4. I feel like people take the whole only nurse and spirit thing way too far. Blight and Oni and Hag are also really really strong killers that if you ask me can absolutely win against really strong teams, in an actual competitive environment where things like object of obsession and ds unbreakable are banned, and the rule set allows for things like slugging (which I don't understand why so many tournaments want to punish slugging so much?)

Point is I don't fully agree, but I don't entirely disagree either, outside of competitive environments where there's no rules to prevent object and problematic maps then there will absolutely be issues with an mmr system being in place.

  5. My team scrimmed against NA's best nurse for like 2 months solid, I think its a little disingenuous to say there was no barrier for entry for Hexy's tournament.
Just because EU outclasses NA doesn't mean that any of the NA teams didn't deserve to be there.

I sort of agree and sort of don't agree about the MMR, I think it needs to happen so that the developers can see how garbage this game is with optimal survivor teams so they can finally make this game stop sucking.
Does that mean this game is going to be painful to play until they do it? Absolutely.
It'll be like 2016 days all over again.

  6. I'd love if they did a 24 hour test where they turned off EVERY form of matchmaking and let the flood gates open. Let it be a casual game where you could (as killer) face 4 brand new players one game and shit stomp them then 4 veterans the next. That was kind of the fun of old CoD games before they did skill based matchmaking; you went into each game not knowing how good everyone else is so you found the one good player in the lobby and made THEM your focus, and when you were the bad player you tried mixing it up. This game is too casual to be given something where every match needs to be a sweatfest

  7. YES THIS! The game is just gonna become very dull and unfun, especially for survivors. The only hope would be that they'll see how busted competent teams can be/how bad some killers perform against effective gameplay and try to balance it. But that would mean survivors in the low mmr will get absolutely smashed to the ground…

I tried Plague who is probably my most played killer and the match I got was really boring. Survivors holding W on Pale Rose and just smashing gens. Literal W simulator, boring as hell.

Btw did anyone else notice a weird pattern of getting good players and like 1 complete pepega during the MMR test?

  8. I usually never comment but, as a comp player I have to say that about variety you're wrong, it is not only nurse/spirit, in fact there's a lot of blights and twins out there 2 different killers that are not strong as nurse or spirit, but definitely are strong enough to be used in comp, I actually rather play comp than playing pub games were the level is just too low. This is just my opinion ofc

  9. I think it's better to have sweaty survs go against nurse and spirit then for them to just bully new wraiths lol Im incredibly excited for MMR, if you want to play super sweaty with keys or Iri head or what have you then I think you should go against someone that's going to give you trouble, it rewards players for playing for fun and for not being a dick. I think that's fantastic

  10. depends if you are playing in a tournament or just playing in a random match, playing sweaty in a public match is kinda boring, but if you play high level vs other high level players with set rules then yeah it's fun

  11. Scott if the MMR system works well and you only see nurse and spirit then BHVR can use that data to actually balance the game. Perhaps a bit optimistic but I'm hoping this is their end goal. Short term pain long term gain.

  12. Just a question: would the mmr-system work better if all killers were stronger with higher skill caps? (Obviously killers like nurse or spirit wouldn't be buffed, but I'm talking what if trapper, pig and myers was as good as nurse for example).
Because in my head, that would mean that if you manage to do well as those killers you will go against better survivors and you don't have to rely on 2-3 killers to have a chance, and if you stomp newer players you are just gonna rise in the mmr ranking.

  13. I must not be good enough, I’m at the only Freddy MMR level, yesterday I probably played against 10 shweaty Freddie’s and only lost to 1 of them, some dude named chinas no1 killer, the dudes lunge was something every survivor dreads, you vaulted that window and started runnning? Well Freddie’s claws don’t agree

  14. During the mmr test ,I have either encountered a full rank 20 squad with 10 hours on the game or a full 4 man rank 1 sweaty swf
I either didnt need to do anything to win or couldnt do anything to win
    very fun gaming experience

  15. All these are Tru3’s exact points. It’s exactly what he was trying to explain to Otz about the 50 streak thing. Yet he gets crucified and called a cry baby. I know you disagree with tru3 on things Scott. But you have to admit you agree with him on these points. MMR is legit gonna kill DBD imo.

  16. The other day I was getting nothing but top tier survivors all across the board for hours straight and yesterday I got anything from rank 20-3 survivors just mixed all together in a random clusterfuck… and to be honest both were boring as shit so there needs to be balance but still a slight amount of random clusterfuck to make the balance fun

  17. And not only that, these tournaments had SOME rules. In DBD MMR, there are no rules. You can all stack the same perks, the same addons, the same everything. This "SBMM" is good for anyone that isn't good at the game, basically. A super good Nurse or Spirit probably plays other killers and they think, it doesn't matter much if they don't do as well, in the back of their minds they could just hop on those killers and do super well. The problem is if you're a good Nurse/Spirit, you probably have enough skill/game knowledge to play most of the killers in the game, which means eventually your skills will translate to every other killer, culminating in you playing sweat squads that force you to feel like you should just… go play Nurse or Spirit. That applies to everyone, not just those two. It will make everyone feel like they should just play their absolute best killer and sweat their balls off.

  18. One thing that's cool about MMR coming is that your opponents reflect your own play style. If you typically don't sweat all the time, you'll continue playing against others that don't sweat all the time too and occasionally lose matches. If you play to guarantee that you escape or get a 4K all of the time by bringing over powered stuff, you'll be faced with opponents trying to do the same thing. I think it only really cripples the players that go for win streaks or try to play "competitively," right? Unless I'm missing something, in which case please let me know haha

  19. Honestly this is a problem with the current ranking system already. I feel like at red ranks all I see is huntress, slinger, pyramid head and spirit. MMR is definitely just going to make it even worse

  20. If they keep the same MMR that was activated yesterday, then streamers will lose viewers. Nobody is gonna sit 2 hours to watch a streamer sit in the queue. The system needs to use MMR for every other match, that way it keeps you in the middle. You lose one, you win one.

  21. I've had 2 games as killer in the last day where everyone had DS Unbreakable, along with the addition of other meta perks (Object, BT, Spine Chill, etc.). It's completely unfun. What will be fun is seeing how boosted scrubs deal with the DS nerf.
