  2. "selfish with extra steps" certainly describes some people I know.

In vhs, I "Play Nice™" simply to not scare players away, and to earn more points from a match because drop-kicking a squad of players in 2 minutes gets you beans for points. I also like just messing around at times. I won't deny that I have selfish motivation most of the time in that regard, though.

In dbd, I don't "Play Nice™" as much as I don't have perks to play scummy. Sometimes I just goof around, especially if I'm doing some archive challenge or daily, but when I'm playing matches, I just go at it. Not getting too invested else I'd get worked up, though. Sometimes I give people hatch, sometimes I don't. I just play how I feel like for the most part. I don't camp, because camping is lame and boring. I will tunnel if you let me though. Like, yeah, tee hee, I get it, you're abusing the fact you have 8 seconds of invulnerability base kit now, so you're going to try to body block me when I come after your unhooker. Unfortunately for you, I'm counting down until you're vulnerable again and slapping you right back onto that hook. Also unhooking right in front of me (I'm typically pyramid head) is a bad idea, and I will punish it and tunnel out the one person who just came off hook. I don't like when the game punishes people just for playing the game while simultaneously rewarding bad plays like that, and I will punish you if you try to abuse the system.

Anywho, I've heard the "I play nice" argument plenty of times, and my reaction to it is "that's nice, sweetie pumpkin". Cuz even if they actually do, that doesn't mean others are. If something is being abused in a game, it's up to the devs to address it, not the players with some sort of code of honor.

  3. Usually if there is something I think is unfun to go against as survivor, I will avoid it as killer and vice versa. I also try to always have fun regardless of how the match is going…I play the way I do cause I want to have fun as well as EVERYONE else. And if I'm not having fun or an stressed out I leave immediately to play something else….I highly recommend taking a break from dbd if you are not having fun. I don't need other people telling me how to enjoy myself with dbd or what kind of mentality i should have.(I'm not saying this guy is just in general)

  4. Losing feels bad, but DbD has an issue where players win so often that losing feels like a personal insult. I often play nice to keep matches exciting, sad to see others are doing it for clout.

  5. Would it count in if you're trying to play nice (not weak on purpose, like not Tea Bagging, Facecamping or Tunneling off the bat) to try and break the circle of toxicity that burns down this game… that'be selfish too?

  6. I think the point is "i am playing a fun character in a fun way, please don t play in the most unfun way possible against me", which I don t think is entitlement but just… please match my energy?

(Not mine specifically, i can t play billy) Just if I am playing billy with double engravings with no gen defense, why not taking the chance to slow a little on gens, do a couple of totems too, see if there is an alex toolbox in a chest and go for a sabo play, earn that second pip, instead of smashing gens and predropping like the game was "gen simulator"?

I use billy because he is a universally loved character, but personally I have so many games of cenobite where I am clearly going for funny snipes with no slowdowns and survivors just do gens and leave, but ig cenobite players are entitled to nothing anyway :]
