  1. Yeah the ptb point is so true. I remember when the Alan wake ptb came out we had a blight testing out infinite rush and turns and we all gave criticism about how broken and op it is and bonded over it in a way. Dbd is fun when you can look at the bad things and laugh at it

  2. Now I'm not a professional developer, but I would not have used bright red for the blood event seeing as how it basically looks like scratch marks at a distance. Now excuse me while I go send some death threats to them

  3. I’ve seen people want a nerf to deadlock!! Literally one of the most fair perks in the game, I’ve even argued to be basket because the amount of times I’ve had three gens pop in 10 seconds is too much

  4. Yes absolutely game development is difficult but at the end of the day it's their job, if the dev team were all people who literally never worked on video games before I'd understand. But the fact it took them a month to fix a simple problem with the knight and the fact that the twins will probably be kill switched for longer and we have an event item that is still not fixed yet is unacceptable. I'm not just mindlessly hating on the devs they do lots of good work and dbd is a great game but we have to call them out on their BS or they won't learn.

  5. We talk mad shit and use the "i think we did a pretty good job so far" meme often. But in all honesty theyve put in work and kept it up for a while now. Imagine how bad this game would be if it was run by ea or ubisoft

  6. I agree with most of this, however I do have a slight issue with the point of "you're not a dev, they work as one" aspect. Just because someone doesn't work doing something doesn't mean they can't tell it's being done poorly. I don't need to be a mechanic to know if I send my car to get repaired and it comes back unable to startup they didn't do a good job. Furthermore just because they have a job position does not mean they're actually good at their job, nor does preforming poorly mean they'll lose their position depending on the circumstance.
I'm not saying they're always right to say these things, but using the defense "well you do it then" or "you're not blank so you can't say they did a poor job" is not a line of thinking I agree with.
Not sure if that was your intention but that's how it sounded to me.

  7. I agree so much. While I haven't done so in decades, I used to be a programmer and I know that programming today is 1000x more complicated than it was when I last did it. So when people say that game developers are lazy, etc… It just shows how entitled they are with no clue how to even start making even the simplest video game themselves. Especially annoyiung is the term "Spaghetti code" like all freaking code is like that. You make one change and it affects something you have no idea that it will affect and why does it? No idea, but it does. All code is like that.

  8. I and some other Pig mains put out a well-constructed argument about how much we hated the timer increase to Pig's Reverse Bear Traps on the latest PTB, and we also posed what would be nerfs but we are okay with our nerf ideas because they will make Pig more healthy and more fun to play against, not nerfing her as a whole, but nerfing the most toxic unfun for survivors "screaming Pig" builds. While they didn't have time to implement our changes, Mandy did thank us, and said they would definitely look into our ideas.

  9. BHVR will go on a win streak and give us some well thought out amazing balancing updates or characters like the hillbilly rework or most recent chapter all things wicked but then they’ll hit us the most unholy, ungodly, and most forsaken balancing update or character I.e skull merchant or the recent huntress buffs. Also as a community we do need to insult the devs less im someone who has played way too much D2 and the toxicity towards the devs killed off all communication from bungie which is sad since bungie used to communicate way more

  10. The game is in an extremely balanced state and I find people whining about "killer sided" vs "survivor sided" to be very immature. In fact, I think the community's conversation is way too focussed on balance as opposed to flavor. When the Pig lost her ability to see boxes and essentially lost an entire dimension to her gameplay, everyone was simply either "Pig's stronger, yay!" or "Pig's weaker, boo!" as opposed to "Hey, what reason do I have to play Pig over Chucky now? You compromised her uniqueness!" If you're gonna criticize BHVR over something, it really should be stuff like that, because for most powers they come up with, a simple number change is all that's needed to put it in a balanced state. If Compound 31 stunned you for 5 seconds after breaking the pallet, it would be weak sauce; if it stunned you for half a second it would be OP. That means somewhere in between those values it's balanced, and if BHVR playtests with different number values they can pretty easily find the answer. But if the power doesn't offer anything different, any unique selling point, then really what point does the character have? You can't fix that with a number change, you need to actually start from the foundation level. Balance is important, but it should never be obtained at the expense of flavor. And, in my opinion, the dev team should slow down their chapter release schedule so that they can balance/tinker with unique power concepts so that they release right the first time. Because no feeling stings worse than falling in love with a killer's unique selling points that YOU PAID FOR only for them to be ground up and tossed away. That's happened to me twice, and with the Twins' rework on the horizon, it could become thrice.

  11. When one lowers themselves to insults with their argument/critique, they've already lost. it's showing the receiver it's not about the the topic at hand but something personal, which nobody has time for. I've talked to the head artists and animators at Bhvr and they're nothing but the nicest people on the planet out for a laugh. If I was to yell and scream at them over some balance do you really think i would've forged such a interaction? Of course not. Without respect, reject. Dbd is the only game surviving from Bhvr since their last 3 titles (eternal crusade/death garden/meet your maker) failed. There's possibly an issue with far too many staff members on the higher levels not seeing the bigger picture of game flow, or are simply afraid to change the formula too much since it's keeping them afloat, I don't know personally but this is the healthiest I've seen Dbd since 2017 and while its hard to pick apart one's compassion for a side to "toxicity" at times, i think we're in a good spot now, where experimentation is promoted within the dev team and it's up to US to give logical, not emotional feedback.

  12. I'd love to see the devs set it up so that once a week they do a live stream of them playing DBD and interacting with the viewers, even if it was just for an hour or two. Getting to learn about which side they play, which perks they like, which game features they like/dislike, and them talk about the process would be pretty cool, esp if they sometimes played with Fog Whisperers like Otz or SpookyLoopz

  13. I do believe its fair to call out BHVR at times (like for instance, with the recent event cause its just bad). But people need to rembmer BHVR devs are human too. They make mistakes, they arnet perfect. What matters is they ARE trying, way more then they used to. They listen far more often to the comminity, make changes to match it.

Sure, not every time they listen on all things, but they try.

  14. Nowadays there's just sooo many moving parts getting tweaked backwards and forwards, I find it hard to feel too strongly about anything since if I wait 2 months it'll likely change with the weather.

Except when things like MFT or Background Player squeeze through the gaps, and then I mostly complain to shore up those odds. I've been here since the beginning, pretty much, and BHVR deserves mad props for how much attention they pay to their community. They've improved light-years beyond how it was the first 3 years or so. If there's a live service game whose devs are more attentive than DbD is nowadays, I don't know about it.

  15. My biggest problem with this sentiment is that people spread it everywhere whenever ANYTHING goes wrong, which detracts from legitimate criticism of the devs.

This mentality leads to people blindly shitting on BHVR, which then leads to other people defending everything they do to try and counter the blind hate.

The only area that I'd argue BHVR is ENTIRELY incompetent in is map design, they've massively improved in pretty much every other area of the game.

  16. I think the biggest problem is that nothing ever feels play tested in DBD. it took 4 days to change the infinite rush Blight on the Alan Wake ptb. they just released this event when its effecting game stability, the event only offering is still disabled, and the event boon is overall just not worth using

  17. For being a technically indie dev that has to keep in mind every new thing will have to interact with hundreds of perks and 30+ kits they do pretty well . There is a feeling of general well I feel like incompetence is a strong word but that .

  18. In all honesty, in the past year or so they've been a lot better about handling the game than they used to. I hardcore quit the game when circle of healing was added to the game years ago because it was insane (plus the nft debacle), on top of old dead hard, DS, unbreakable, etc. I only returned after they finally gutted all that BS and started making the game actually enjoyable for both sides. They've been so much quicker on the draw with addressing problematic perks and features now days and I appreciate it greatly. The game still has its flaws, and BHVR has a bad habit of kneecapping anything that even looks remotely overpowered now (rip Scavenger), but things are so much healthier now days. It's one of the most major reasons I give a 🤨 at anyone who says the game was better when it's unbalanced or that it's boring now days. It just feels like they're salty they aren't given free wins whether they're a survivor morning the loss of the invincible rocket and immortality of DH DS/UB, or a killer wanting to be able to infinitely reduce gens to 0 just by downing a singular survivor with pain res call of brine eruption etc.

I still feel the game is largely survivor sided. It's not 98% survivor sided like it was a couple years ago, but it's like 70% now days. Mostly from the ridiculous amount of palettes and dog-water maps, and the nature of the beast when it comes to the playstyle of killers like billy who is crippled by indoor maps and ones with lots of vaults, or wraith with outdoor maps being able to be spotted from a mile away and having very few options for bodyblocking whilst uncloaking in chase. But it still feels fun and rarely unwinnable from 5 gens anymore.

I know they hired a new balance team leader the past while, and I feel like it's probably that guy's direction that's taking the game to a far healthier place. So kudos to him and the workers at BHVR who keep the funny hide and seek game zesty.

  19. The most annoying thing I see the devs getting attacked for is them being “killer sided” or “survivor sided” people really think the devs main one side and want to nerf one side super hard and kill the game for whatever reason and it annoys me so much, the devs shouldn’t be attacked for trying new things even if it’s a really bad change. Now people could give constructive criticism, but most people’s criticisms is “the devs are so dumb and don’t even play their own game”

  20. No matter how bad or good their balancing decisions are, I always remain grateful that the devs at least make an effort to listen to us. Despite the one or two slip-ups they’ve made recently, at least they’ve been WAY more better at listening than most other dev teams have.

  21. The only thing I don't like about bhvr is that when something breaks like oni being bugged to be able to lunge while carrying, try this with mad grit, or something really unbalanced like ftp + buckle up, or made for this they take so long to nerf or fix it, or when they over nerf a killer like deathslinger and they still haven't reverted him or even buffed him 🙁

  22. I really quit this game due to the community I’ve seen behavior work super hard to help but some loony flies off the handle about a killer looking creepy and how divided this community is you can’t get anyone to talk and admit what each side is doing wrong, you know your community is bad when I’d rather spend money on an mmo subscription than play this game for free on game pass

  23. I’ve been playing since it launched on console and to this day I can’t understand why made for this was even made and why it lasted so damn long but your right BHVR has been on role on steam its doing great the new chapter is amazing the gameplay changes its great

  24. Absolutely agree with this video. Every time I see a patch and think “oh this is good, oh this is bad” only to see a horde of “the devs never listen, the game is dying” or some other BS is wild to me. I first started this game since Curtain Call, and REALLY got invested around All-Kill. Throughout all my time playing this game, current DBD is BY FAR the best version as the devs actively want to listen to the community. It’s a shame that there’s so much genuine hatred thrown towards them because I can TELL that they really, REALLY care about this game, and that’s something people are completely blind to
